Like you I consider myself an 'old' gardener and well aware of the dangers of invasive plants. However we all succumb at some point. Last year's effort was a tall yellow plant, could have been an Inula, or not, growing to 5-6ft. Would look good as a background I thought! The grower forgot to mention it spread like Vinca, needed staking with something akin to the frames put round small trees to deter deer and still escaped to flop all over the lawn! It has been moved to a forgotten spot at the back of the pond, but will still need staking - and it's still coming up in the original place. I also have the yellow Lamium, planted under some conifers as I thought it would be one of the few things to grow there - it has and spread everywhere else. I also have patches of the variegated Vinca!

I've got a similar problem but not with vinca - My pain is a pink hardy Geranium and sorry to say I've lost the tag and can't remember it's name to warn you all!!! It's gone absolutely mad and I feel so cruel digging it up too!!!

Oh my,Spritz, what a mammoth task!I bet you thought it felt never ending..As lovely as the Vinca's are, they really are thugs, aren't they? You are going to have a lovely display with all your new plants, and you have chosen one of my favourite colour schemes..:o) .

I drop vine weavil larvae in the pond, the fish like them but haven't tried lily beetles.

If you try to pick off lily beetles, they quickly drop to the ground, probably wouldn't like a fall from a balcony!!

They certainly are.

You have every reason to be pleased with it as well! It's lovely! :-))

My Anemones are just making a come back after the the few days of strong cold winds we had a week or so ago. :-))
Just yesterday we had even stronger winds though not nearly as cold as the last. It was drying out all my pots & tubs & troughs & as I tried to water them in the face of the strong wind I nearly got as much water on myself as on the plants! :-))
My Anemone buds have greatly increased in number & this week, with the high temps forecast for Tuesday & Wednesday, I should see a lot of them opening! :-))

What fun to look at something real in your garden! we still have snow and brown grass. A few snowdrop in sunny sheltered spots. This winter just about finished everyone and every bush! The snow cover was ice at the bottom. So all Goys keep posting to cheer us on.Nice photo of yours too.

mine don't look too happy either. our market trader sells bunches at £2.50 for 6. I remember buying a bunch of 10 for 2/- [10p for those youngsters] back in the late 60's.
I love the colour of this one.

Lovely, Spritz! :-)) Mine are nothing like yours! They have been burned in the cold strong winds we had last week & the edges of the petals are browned & some of the buts that were about to open have been so burned they can no longer open!

I haven't seen any Lily beetles on my balcony! I did discover some when the Lilies were growing on the allotment but not in the 2 years they have been on the balcony at home.

Lovely, such a pretty colour. I love to see anemones. You used to be able to buy bunches of anemones but you don't see them very often any more.

How sweet is that???

That was lucky!!

I do like these dark Fritallaries!
My biggest enemy with the smaller Frits are the slugs. Gone through all my F.elwesii as soon as they poked through the soil.
