On photo - My new bed - all planted up...
My Thalia blooms got eaten before I had time to photograph them. I noticed one morning that they were just opening up, was away overnight, got back late and following morning saw that they had been munched. Sundisc, Falconet and Sweetness were all untouched - must have been a little too early for the slugs - and Sailboat seem to have survived. Maybe my slugs just prefer the white flowers. ?

I've never grown Fritillaries though every year when I see them in the shops I'm tempted!
I know of at least one garden, which I used to pass very frequently while working, that has Crown Fritillaries that grow well & flower every year. I've never looked at them close enough to see if they were infected by Lily Beetles though.
How they find out new "food" is mystifying, perhaps the plants release scent molecules that the beetles can detect even though we can't.

I grow this in my small back yard in crewe this year it's popped up in about 40 different places my yard faces north so is shady and quite cool all year round

You will have to take a photo when they flower, I shall look forward to seeing it all in flower.

I remember as a boy in London that I used to love seeing 'Granny Bonnets' growing in our local park!
This is a lovely colour, Spritz! I like them very much but I don't think I've actually grown them myself.

As I haven't grown them for very many years I'm not too sure but I think they should flower again next year. I was deadheading some of them just this afternoon when we had some nice warm sunshine on the balcony. I do this with all my plants if I'm not interested in saving seed from them.
It has been difficult to get clear photos of the flowers as they are growing in pots with other bulbs, Crocuses, Mini-Daffs, Irises & mini-Tulips as well s Pansies!

Do yours come back? Did not realize that I had commented before. One of the best!

Mine seem to be "winding down" but they have made a lovely show even if they weren't all purple as they should have been!

Our balcony is at ground level - not half a dozen floors up! Have a look at my photos page to see a few updated photos of our balcony.
As my Lilies are sprouting again this year I will let you know if I see any Lily Beetles. Perhaps I don't get them because there is nothing to draw there attention anywhere close by. There are plenty of gardens around but I can't remember having seen lilies growing in gardens in the near neighbourhood. If their grubs only feed on lilies that could be part of the explanation as to why I don't get them on the balcony. I wonder if they are strong fliers as that might make a difference as well.

Is it semi shade or full sun after lunch? What plants did you put in? It is quite good fun deciding in a new bed bit.
