Wish I had room for more winter flowers, it's very pretty:-)
On photo - Prunus mume 'Ben-Chidori'
Yes:-) sometimes I half hope that I lose some plants so I can justify buying new ones lol. I do have room in my north border though:-)
On photo - Pulmonaria rubra 'David Ward...
Cotswold Garden Flowers has David Ward, they are a very good company which also delivers. Having looked at their catalogue (fatal mistake) there are more pulmonarias I want. Bob Browns favourite is Diana Clare he says ..."seven months of long silvered apple-green foliage in graceful rosettes preceded by large purple flowers Feb-May" sounds good to me:-) They also have a seedling of Opal (one of my faves ) called Nimes which has large open violet-blue flowers Feb-May another I want:-)

exactly!

I lost mine but know I have been reminded of it I will look for another one.

Rather than plant the clematis close to the shrub (and disturbing its roots), dig a hole just beyond the spread of the branches. Position a cane at 45 degrees to 'lead' the clematis to the host, and it will soon get the idea.

I want to know if you still have it too as it's on my 'little' list:-))

Thank you Spritz.

Oh now come on girl, where has that defeatist attitude come from? ;o))))
Start with a small spike and wiggle it around, you'll soon have a hole big enough :o)

They are lovely flowers! :-)) Is it a winter flowering cherry?

Absolutely Fab...;o)

Another one I have not seen before, do you still have this one B? we have quite a large collection of Pulmonaria, just looking for the out of the ordinary now......

Lovely, do you still grow this one B?
On photo - Pulmonaria 'Argentea'
yes me too wildrose.
Now that is a brill idea I can buy another clematis and say its to improve the other shrub ;o)
I have a Jackmani through the lilac and an Alpina through the philadelphus. well I say I have it depends on if the brutal pruning my OH did has killed them.

Gorgeous colour and what a treat so early in the year.

This is so pretty and imagining its scent is lovely.
The article in the RHS magazine this month made me want one of everything!!

It is spectacular!
In my dreams, one day, I will have one just like it!!

Lovely to see again Spritz, such a pretty welcome sight.

We grow Arabella a very useful Clematis...I can imagine it looks good sprawling over the Silver Queen...
On photo - Lonicera x purpusii
Of course you could always disguise it with a short, deciduous climber. I can recommend clematis 'Arabella' - it has purple flowers and flowers for months. It rambles over euonymus 'Silver Queen' in my front garden.

This is such a wonderful colour.....I love it.

Andrew that is exactly what my OH says when I say how lovely this shrub is lol
On photo - Lonicera x purpusii
How beautiful, we have an ericsmithii somewhere, now where did I plant it?
On photo - Helleborus x ericsmithii 'Ma...
Sbg - they are good at this time of year, but large, scruffy 'passengers' when not in flower.

Nice one
