HAPPY 2nd Birthday to GoY !!! :o) VANCOUVER, CANADA ~ GoY Winter Wellie...

*BUILD-UP TO 2010.

I’ve decided to launch this blog today ~ GoY’s second birthday !

~ Happy Birthday GoY. Thanks to Peter, Ajay et al for your hard work in making GoY such a wonderful group. :o)

The next Winter Olympic Games will be held in
Vancouver, Canada, February 12th – 28th, 2010.

These are followed by the Paralympic Games
( Jeux Paralympiques ) March 12th – 21st, 2010*

There are many fascinating places to visit in and around Vancouver. Some are illustrated in my previous blog which includes history and plants of the University of British Columbia Botanical Garden. Also, Gilli has written an interesting blog about the official flower of British Columbia, Canada. This is the Pacific Dogwood ~ Cornus nuttallii.

By the start of 2010, the world will be focussed on Vancouver, Canada, ready for the Winter Olympics.

GoY Winter Wellie Olympians will be arriving by all forms of transport, but hot air balloon is one of our favourites. For the 2012 Olympics in London, we are lucky to have Irish driving the red Double-Decker London Bus, ably assisted by Janette :o)

In anticipation of Vancouver 2010, GoY Wellie athletes have just one year remaining, to train in their gardens. A great opportunity to perfect skills of their chosen sports. Please comment below any time during 2009, to let us know how your amazing fitness is being achieved ~
Digging ? Mowing ? Fencing ?

David has a whole new garden to design. He’ll be fit for sure !

Please keep us informed of any garden work which is improving your physique for your favourite GoY Winter Wellie Olympics events.
Are you on a special diet to aid fitness ?
Lettuce ? Chocolate ?

My Sheltie, Conker, battling through the snow to deliver diet sheets to Winter Wellie Olympics athletes.

Polly the Scottie woke Pansypotter three times in the night ~
just to go out and roll in the snow.
Polly is definitely a dedicated Winter Wellie athlete !

*Snow sport facts ~

The first commercially marketed snowboard was the Snurfer, invented in 1965 by Sherman Poppen of Michigan.

The longest-ever recorded ski jump is by a Norwegian ~
Bjorn Einar Romoren ~ 239 metres in 2005.

British skeleton racer Kristan Bromley is known as Doctor Ice.
He is the first man to win the World and European Skeleton Championships in the same season.
These wellies below, would seem ideal for the Skeleton !*

Wellies and Flower Pot Person cleverly photographed by Catfinch.

*The fastest speed recorded in a bobsleigh is 125 mph.

The bobsleigh was invented by a group of Englishmen on holiday in Switzerland in 1890.*

My first blog about the GoY Wellie Olympics has become impossible to scroll down, due to over 650 comments. My thanks to you for all of those :o) But now, only the very fittest can reach the bottom of the page ! However, please feel free to comment on that original blog and let members know you achieved the marathon of arriving there ! Catfinch tried to comment on that blog, and her computer couldn’t cope ~ it leapt off the desk and landed in Wales !

However, with the help of these blog maps, we are airborne for 2010.

We’re hoping to visit various members along the way, including Newfienurse, Nancym, Elke, Gillian, Lori, Grammazoo, Greenthumb, Catfinch, Doon and Gilli.

And hopefully, for the GoY Wellie Olympics Annual General Meeting, we’ll all take a detour to visit Panther in warm Fiji. :o)
That suggestion needs to be put to the vote. Good idea ?

Our main rival team is the Flower Pot Snow People.
Please be on the alert.
They try to sabotage us at every opportunity !

In British Columbia, Gilli’s dog, Susie, is especially trained to sniff out and spot Flower Pot Snow People.
Notice how carefully brave Susie is guarding this menacing example.

Gee19 and Chrispook liaised to produce this evidence entitled ‘Melt Down’ which proves that the Flower Pot Snow People can be quelled.

Youngdaisydee is a very trendy GoY Winter Wellie Olympian.
These are her High School Musical pink wellies.:o)

January in Nova Scotia ~ Nancym photographed this frozen lake.
Proof that for our arrival in Canada, hot air balloons could be better than boats. :o)

In Ontario, Gillian found this sign for Terra Nurseries.
One of my overseas wellie-related investments. Lol.

Ducky’s girls are definitely pretty in pink wellies. :o)

Pottygardener shows that wellies can be decorative.

Here’s Milky, in wellies, on holiday, but dedicated to GoY ~
studying the rules for her chosen Winter Wellie Olympic Sports.

Michaella is very stylish. Look at her fantastic footwear !

And proving that Michaella’s wellies are warm and snug, here she is, with feet warm as toast, after an hour’s gardening in the snow.

Amy found these wonderful wellie key rings. Well-spotted !

And how about Ickledigga’s pretty paw-print wellies ? Stunning !

Donnah’s flower wellies have done lots of hard work in the garden.
Check out her brilliant blogs ! :o)

Rodburn proves that wellies can be artistic as well as functional.
Also a clever way to dry out those wet wellies. :o)

Arlene is always considering everyone’s comfort. These wellie-wamers look very useful indeed. We’ll need those when we stop off to visit Greenthumb in Alaska. Take a look at the next photo ! Brrrrrrrr !

Greenthumb’s fur-lined wellies in the frozen north. He gets plenty of opportunities to practise Winter Wellie Olympic snow events. :o)

Pottygardener photographed these intrepid Inuit people ~
on their way to watch the Winter Wellie Olympics.

Pollyannaever took this action shot of “lovely legs” Bruce shovelling snow. He’s a great asset to the Winter Wellie team.

Forget Eddie the Eagle….
Here’s Polly the Scottie ready to jump !

Flcrazy is entered in the competition for slalom snow sculpture dinosaur-dodging ! In her wellies she can whiz past this Brontosaurus at record speeds. She is a definite gold medal prospect. :o)

In Nova Scotia, Elke and Patrick have perfected their frozen bean pole techniques. For the GoY Winter Wellie Olympics, this dynamic duo will be winners all the way in the Frozen Bean Pole Challenge.

Deida51 reports that Percy’s snow football skills are second to none. He will also be a GoY entrant in the Wellie Curling competition.

Photo from Irish and John ~ Pip perfecting the downhill snowboard slalom ~ Jacque describes Pip’s style as the Roly Poly technique. :o)

This is wonderful !
Two more members for the Canine Wellie Curling Olympic Team !
Well done, Arlene, for the special training you’ve put in with Harvey and Merlin. :o)

In Newfoundland, Chummy and Scrunchion intensify their training for the ice-dancing events.

From Ontario, Lori sent this fabulous photo of marvellous Mandy, demonstrating how to sit and smile, despite the snow and ice !

More cats are getting in on the act !
Greenfingers says brave Butch checked out every inch of his slalom course before taking to the slopes.

Supercat Smeagols is owned by Lynne and Paul of Thenorfolkshed.
Their fantastic feline is training for the latest Winter Olympics event called Snowboard Cross. In Vancouver, medals will be available for this exciting new sport !

Ktshoot got this great picture of her cat, Dips, purrrrfecting the slalom. :o)

Here’s handsome Harry, owned by Lincslass.
He demonstrates a cool head for heights as he practises his balancing techniques ~
ready for the feline free-skating events.

Yellowleaf helped Lizzy the cat check out the bob sleigh run.
Lizzy is a great GoY Olympian. Definite feline gold medal.

Sophiejo photographed Sophie the cat.
Sophie will join Lizzy for the two-cat bob sleigh event. :o)

Another great photo by Lincslass.
Her daughter is wearing designer dogwalking wellies. Stunning !

Two of my blogs tell the stories of Furry Toto being abducted by the Flower Pot People and taken to the North Pole.
Here Toto receives snow travel advice from the Polar Bears.

Our team has athletic cats and dynamic dogs, but here Catfinch’s fabulous Flash provides some necessary horse-power for the GoY Wellie Olympians.

Gee19 decided that we Winter Olympians need to keep up our strength with her special shortbread biscuits. Great garden theme, Gee ! :o)

Wow, look, here’s Noseypotter. How did he get here ?
Not surprised he’s near to the lovely shortbread biscuits. Lol.

In snowy Wales, here’s Sandra with wellies and hearty socks !

And here’s Sandra again…
with Snow Lady…
What a wonderful pair. Lol.

And who is this ?
Looks like lovely Lilly has found the Snow Lady.

Madmum has suitably rosy wellies.
Check out Madmum’s wonderful paintings blog for pictures of roses, dogs and other flowers. Good one :o)

And from Ontario, Gillian gives words of warning ~
Help ! ~ these Canadian snows can be deep……

Special cheery weather map for all those in Canada suffering from too much snow !

Last but not least, our wonderful GoY Winter Wellie Olympics mascot ~ in the deep snows of Britain, beautiful Brooke ~ biathlon training ! Photograph by Majeekahead.

Thanks to all the GoY members who have generously allowed their fabulous photos to be included in this blog. Please go ahead during 2009, and comment with updates of your Winter Wellie Olympics training in your gardens. Any special projects under way ? :o)

1 Feb, 2009

That was brilliant TT. You've put a lot of efort into it, especially the maps. It was interesting to see what part of the country our Canadian friends live.
Blodyn is pleased to see her photo - she's training very hard. She might give you a further update on her progress some day.
Congratulations to the GOY team on their second anniversary aswell .

1 Feb, 2009

Hello Arlene, Gee, Amy, Dee, Gilli, Hywel ~
Thanks for visiting the Winter Wellie blog.
Here's GoY now into its third fantastic year !

Very cold and windy today !
Rain and thaw in British Columbia, but in Britain the snow is on its way. Lots of chances to practise wellie sports in the garden. I wonder if Blodyn the cat will venture out, or will she stay in the warm. ? :o)

1 Feb, 2009

TT This blog is very funny it must have taken you forever Brill

1 Feb, 2009

Blodyn will probably stay in the warm TT. lol, although mind you she wanted to go for two walks this morning even in this cold wind. I only went once with her. The second time I turned back. It was too cold. lol :o)

1 Feb, 2009

Glad you enjoyed the blog Donna :o)
Your flower wellies are lovely.

Hywel, your Welsh flower, i.e. Blodyn, should stay in the warm today. Really cold wind out there !

1 Feb, 2009

She has a thick fur coat TT. :o)

1 Feb, 2009

Looks to me like congratulations due all round.
TT...a wonderful blog, you have put so much thought and effort into it. Liked the map showing the different areas our members live in. Well done! Brilliant. look forward to everyone's additions to it in 2009.
Peter & Ajay, well done on 2 years of running the most successful, friendly, informative, fun site on the www.!

1 Feb, 2009

Thanks, Pottygardener ~
I improved my knowledge of Canadian geography by drawing those maps. Thought it better to draw my own maps freehand rather than worry about copyright issues. LOL.

I've just been out in the garden.
There's a FREEZING cold wind !
Snow is on the way !

1 Feb, 2009

Hey, thats a fantastic work TT, congratulations!!!

HAPPY SECOND B'DAY TO GOY!!! and GOY MEMBERS!!
Copying Aster, the friendship, of this site is a model to be followed...

Also, Happy anniversary to Eileen!

I could take a picture of my old wellies bought to face Iowa's winter many years ago, but I'm afraid it won't fit ... lol

and, as I'm not very skilled on winter sports, will offer the teams support serving hot brazilian coffee, tea and chocolate to keep everyone warm!!! :)

1 Feb, 2009

Hello Aleyna ~
There's a definite wind chill here today in England !
Hot Brazilian coffee, tea and chocolate ~

1 Feb, 2009

Hi Elke ~

She makes little items for dolls' houses too.
Very clever !

Yes, A & P do a great job with GoY :o)

1 Feb, 2009

1 Feb, 2009

Well, the thaw didn't last long. Its snowing like crazy again. So.....back to the flame throwing practice. I've come up with a new event.....Digging out the greenhouse from snowdrifts....!!!

1 Feb, 2009

Sounds a good event Gilli.
Please, when you post pictures of your Greenhouse Glacier Olympic training, let us know on this thread, so that we can take a look.

2 Feb, 2009

Hello NP ~
Nice to hear from you on this blog.
It seems like we'll take you with us in a balloon across the Atlantic !

Sweet Susie, the snow dog, lives in British Columbia, Canada, and the wonderful wellies with skulls were photographed by Catfinch in America !

Looking out of the window at the snow, it seems I launched this Winter Wellie blog at exactly the right time ! :o)

2 Feb, 2009

so its your fault

2 Feb, 2009

Yes. :o)

2 Feb, 2009

damn you wernt sposed to say that lol

2 Feb, 2009

Too late. Lol. :o)
Are you going to make a snow sculpture NP ?
You could photograph it and put it on GoY and it could go on this blog as well, please. How about a snow dog ?

2 Feb, 2009

Well done once again Terratoonie...
What would GOY be without you? :o)

2 Feb, 2009

Hi TT...Yes we have snow here a bit yesterday and a lot more overnight......

2 Feb, 2009

Hello Holly and NN ~
Snow here, but not that much yet !
This blog is really seeming appropriate with the snow over most parts of Britain.

What do the Canadians think about our country struggling after just a few snowfalls ? There is discussion on TV right now about very few Members of Parliament being able to reach London today. I guess they are all in their gardens, building snowmen. :o)

2 Feb, 2009

Interesting to see that we are not really expecting much in the way of snow this week - guess you've got it all over there!

2 Feb, 2009

Would you like your snow back, Gillian ? :o)
A national TV show this morning was working on a very low number of staff due to the snow. Only one presenter instead of two, and she made the coffee for her guest. LOL.

Then Lily Allen was interviewed on about four consecutive London-based TV shows. These arrangements made at short notice. It seems she was the only celebrity in the capital. :o)

2 Feb, 2009

So how much snow did you get?

2 Feb, 2009

I seems deepest in the London M25 area ~ maybe eight inches ? but possibly 12 inches or more to come later today.

The news bulletins are showing photos of snowmen built by viewers. Reports from the zoos where the Siberian Tigers and African Penguins are enjoying this cold weather.:o)

In areas of Canada, such as Ontario and British Columbia, how many winter weeks of snow do you usually experience ?

2 Feb, 2009

its about the worst position for my back rolling large snoww balls or id go over the local commen land and do something huge but hay ho

2 Feb, 2009

Oh, your poor back !
Leave it to the youngsters to make the snowmen :o) x

2 Feb, 2009

I love this TT...you are clearly the most industrious of all the Goy members...and now I can get to the bottom of this blog without being flung 7000 miles..LOL...Love your map too..LOL...my daffodil is in the US..in Washington State...I am not a Canadian but almost...!
I have no snow here..very warm actually 50's I think....no snow...no ice..not even any frost..have been looking and found some signs of spring...will have to get out my camera...as to the winter Olympics to come? I believe my packing and clearing practice will serve me well in moving pots and re-arranging over and over again...must move this to be able to move that...oh no must move that first ...oh dear now that needs to be moved there...I am very good at it now...
Happy Anniversay GOY...! Great Job and happy anniversay Eileen!
and thank you ...Dear Heart TT...xx ~Cat
NP.....the boots belong to a lady friend who stopped in my shop while it was still open...she is a piratess...and will not give up her boots...it would not be good to go after them...you see how she captured the flower pot person..right off...! "Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr....you will need to find your own...Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr"....I did not say that.... she did.... ....I know nothing....~CF

2 Feb, 2009

Hello CF ~
I had fun making the maps. The Canadian members have not yet reported any major errors. I don't think I've put Nova Scotia in the wrong place. LOL.

I reckoned our balloons could go north to visit Greenthumb in Alaska, and also south to see you in Washington State, before ending up in Vancouver.

Sounds like your packing and clearing practice has been happening simultaneously with my sorting and tidying over here.
Maybe we should team up for a Wellie Olympic sport ?
Synchronised sledding ? Conker the Sheltie together with your canine volunteers towing our sled ? xx TT

2 Feb, 2009

ill just have to lol

2 Feb, 2009

It would be grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrreat if NP found some skull wellies. :o)

2 Feb, 2009

i NEED some skull wellies badly lol

2 Feb, 2009

Well done Terratoonie and yes NS is looking just fine. I heard on the news this morning that Britian got 25cm of snow yesterday. Hope everyone enjoyed their snow day.

2 Feb, 2009

i did so much i did a blog of photos.got to beat drab and damp for once

2 Feb, 2009

NP ~ You've made some good blogs. :o)

3 Feb, 2009

Hi Nancym ~
I'm glad NS is looking fine ~ in real life and on the map LOL.
Yes, London and South East Britain had more snow than has been experienced for about 18 years ! Airports had to cancel flights. They prioritised on the long haul journeys.

In the U.K. we don't seem to be geared up for deep snow !
A chance to practise some Winter Wellie Olympic events.:o)

3 Feb, 2009

thank you terra anyone found my skull wellies i need them

3 Feb, 2009

Have you seen Pottygardener's very furry wellies in her latest blog.? Have a look at those ! She's taking her Winter Olympics training very seriously. :o) Lol.

3 Feb, 2009

They were showing pictures of the snow in London on our news. Said buses were all cancelled, and showed the drivers throwing snowballs at each other. There seemed to be a lot of excitement about it generally!

3 Feb, 2009

Apparently the London roads were gritted, so the main roads were okay, but the gritters didn't go all the way to the bus stations ~ lack of liaison ~ so the buses couldn't get out !

That footage of the bus drivers throwing snowballs has also been on countless news bulletins over here!

Sun is out today and a partial thaw.

3 Feb, 2009

Love the look of snow after it covers the world and the sun comes out..my favorite part of it..glad it can warm and melt then...it is perfect here for the seeds that need a good freeze and a deep watering before spring, when it warms after a late winter snow ...they really begin to pop.

3 Feb, 2009

That's a lovely optimistic comment. :o)

You're right. There should be some good growth following all this. TV news says the snow has now moved to Northern England, Devon, and parts of Wales.

3 Feb, 2009

LOL...I have heard it is doing a good job of it in Wales...Yes....
It was nice here yesterday...guess we had all of our snows earlier...hoping we can move on into more spring like weather again....it gets a bit confused around the equinoxes most often...so it is not over yet...but soon.

3 Feb, 2009

Now, how did you get news from Wales ? :o)

3 Feb, 2009

Four new photos now added ! Lol.

3 Feb, 2009

wow we are in he olympics now. we can join blodyn in the welsh team. :-}}

3 Feb, 2009

It seems you are very fit in Wales, because you're making up most of the team ~
Sandra, Lilly, Blodyn, Arlene, Pottygardener... o)

3 Feb, 2009

way to go Wales.....we should win a few meddles.

3 Feb, 2009

Especially if you also have the snowlady on your team :o)

3 Feb, 2009

i wounder which event shed be in???

3 Feb, 2009

Figure skating ?
She has a very nice figure. LOL

3 Feb, 2009

Yet another fabulous photo added !
The blog now includes pictures by Pottygardener, Pansypotter and Noseypotter.
A bit of a theme going on here. :o)

3 Feb, 2009

Wow, this blog is already well on its way to matching and surpassing your other Winter Wellie Olympic blog TT.

After thorough scrutiny of your maps I can find no errors, TT. Well done. No one should get lost with you fine work to navigate from.

NP ~ Susie is a Sheba Inu which is related to the Akita. She is very fox like. She has a mind of her own and is very stubborn. I am trying to find some Wellies for her as she doesn't like cold feet and walks around trying to hold all four paws out of the snow at the same time when it is really cold. It's quite a feat...........maybe another event in the making???
You could make some skull wellies NP. Find a nice pair of black ones and paint skulls all over them. There should be some kind of waterproof paint that you could use. They would be totally unique and a work of art.

TT ~ in Kamloops we usually start our snow in November (it was late this winter) and it pretty much stays around until the end of February or early March. Sometimes we have Chinooks (a warm wind) which cause a temporary thaw but that only lasts for a day or two. We don't get really deep snow like they do out east as it is quite dry here. I think we've been sitting at 12" give or take an inch or two, all winter. It keeps snowing but the dry air actually takes some of the snow away between falls even if it is below freezing....kind of like a frost free freezer. LOL

3 Feb, 2009

I'm relieved that the Canadian maps have been approved. LOL.

I thought same as Gilli about NP maybe painting his own wellies. Maybe he could start up a new cottage industry.
Painted wellies made to order. Dogs, cats, flowers, skulls ?

In Britain, having experienced just a couple of days of snow here, I really admire all those who cope with weeks and months of the white stuff.

Gilli ~ did you see the photo recently put on GoY showing the plans for the Chinese flame thrower ? It is by Naxiketa ~ 2nd Feb. There are 4 similar photos but please look at the first one, with comments. Lol. Could be a good addition to your equipment for quelling the Flower Pot Snow People. :o)

3 Feb, 2009

the paint would spoil no worries im only joking now i know they egsist ill hunt them down.i got a springer a sharpi and an american bully x staffy

3 Feb, 2009

When you find your skull wellies, I know you'll let us see a photo :o)

3 Feb, 2009

Harvey and Merlin snow picture now added !
Arlene ~ good photo. :o)

3 Feb, 2009

Congratulations GOY and many many thanks to Teratoonie for such a wonderful and entertaining blog, a true masterpiece! Love reading your comments on the brilliant Goy pictures. I have heard you commenting on Wellies many times, but missed out on what it was all about as didnt join until June2008 so sadly missed your first Wellie Blog, must try to catch it when I have a few days spare! well done and thanks again!

3 Feb, 2009

Hello Pansypotter ~
Lovely to have your photo of Polly on the blog.
Thank you. :o)
The first wellie blog was started in August 2008, but there are almost 700 comments, so quite a long read !

However, maybe you could just visit it to look at the members' lovely photos at the top. That doesn't take so long and there are some super pictures from the GoY Wellie Olympians. :o)

I'm so glad you enjoyed this blog.
Hoping to add more snow photos as we go along !

3 Feb, 2009

Well I for one am giving you a like..almost forgot!!!...Hey you guys with all this work..don't you think our TT needs more likes...Yay!!! TT......... love this blog it is so family...good going..wish I could give another like! ~Cat

3 Feb, 2009

Thanks. Cat.
With so many photos, it makes the 'like' option a long way below the comments.

I'm really thrilled that the Canadians and Americans haven't faulted me on the maps ~
Colouring in those, I used up boxes and boxes of crayons ! LOL.

I'm glad you like the blog. Still waiting for your answer to my question to you further back on this thread, as to how you got news from Wales. Now how could that be ? :o)

3 Feb, 2009

Thanks TT for the time and effort you have put into this blog for the benefit / enjoyment of members. Another well deserved like from me.

3 Feb, 2009

Hello Gf ~
So pleased you like this one.
Still waiting for Cat to explain how she gets such instant news from Wales............ :o)

3 Feb, 2009

TT..how I get the news from Wales?......LOL...little birdie flies by and drops off a newspaper...every so often....hmmm..I say..seems to be from Wales...I say...isn't that nice... xx's TT...~Cat

3 Feb, 2009

Oh Yay, oh Yay, oh Yay! I missed this second birthday! (due to another home move). Last year, Sprtizhenry and I "sang" Happy Birthday at exactly the same time online, and the results which appeared online were very interesting!

Tt! - I shall be getting extremely fit, no doubt, in a new garden, but will defintely be putting on weight for some of the heavier events. Also (and this now forces me to do so), in March i will post a pic of me in a kilt (!st time ever!) as I attend a family wedding on St Patrick's Day- wait a mo, have I got the wrong Saint? Aye, but there are reasons!

4 Feb, 2009

Good that Cat explained how she was getting that news from Wales. There was me thinking Hywel's Blodyn the cat was sending emails to Cat's Flash the horse. :o)

And an amazing announcement from Scotland ! David wearing his kilt on St. Patrick's Day ! Let's hope, by 17th March, the weather has warmed up and we're all busy out in our gardens :o)

4 Feb, 2009

nice thaught lol

4 Feb, 2009

I sincerely hope that you are, lol!

Incidentally, my 4-leafed clover seems to have survived some neglect, and is showing signs of new life!, Yippee!

4 Feb, 2009

TT...you know full well how I get news from Wales...

David..you wearing a kilt on St.Pat's day is all just great...but it is the cartwheeling that we all need to know about.....ya kin see a kilt any ole day....cartwheels...naw..

Glad for u about the 4 leaf clover David.....yur gonna need it on the cartwheels... har-har-har....

4 Feb, 2009

Scroll, down, click and drag, read, click and drag, read...pant, pant. Almost to the end, scroll down, click and drag...read. Whew! Look how strong and muscular my scrolling fingers have gotten! This gives me an idea!
I have a plan to help Gilli foil the flower pot people and help the Wellie Olympic people on their way to the Olympics... What if I use these long muscular fingers I have developed to point the way to the Olympics, then when I see an evil flower pot person I will turn and point the wrong direction! Heehehe, the flower pot people will never find their way out of the badlands of the Dakotas!

What a great blog, TT! You've done it again. I love all this.

Happy Birthday GoY and thanks for helping me through this long, long winter!

4 Feb, 2009

Dear Cat! I'll need four leafs to cover my clover ( or clover my cover, when I do the cartwheels - which have not been forgotten!). Am now looking into inventing a gravity-defying sporran!

5 Feb, 2009

Really..? ummm..now .....Why?

5 Feb, 2009

LOL David.....a marvellous idea. ...you could become a multi millionaire by the time the Olympics are over.
I'm glad to hear your 4 leaf clover is recovered. It would be a disaster to have your cover not clovered.

Weedy, your idea is truely the idea of a genius. Why, those flower pot people will be totally confused. They will never see the trap. While you are pointing in the wrong direction perhaps we can also get them to walk through a strong magnetic field which will then cause any compass they may have packed along to be rendered useless.

5 Feb, 2009

David, can't wait to see the kilt pix. Gravity defying sporran...probably a good idea. I think I'll just stay out of this one; the saga can only get worse!

Gilli, maybe we should talk to David, anyone who could invent an anti gravity sporran could probably invent a machine that could produce a strong magnetic field to squelch the flower pot people's little compasses.

5 Feb, 2009

TT...I do believe Weeds has some brave and new ideas here..we need to make her captain of something...this talent must be utilized...!

5 Feb, 2009

While I was sleeping, some brilliant comments been put on this thread. What wonderful GoY Winter Wellie Olympians you are !

Cat, you're right. Weeds could be Captain of Inventions ~
new technology and equipment to help us all win gold medals. Just about every Wellie Sport can benefit from her scientific knowledge and expertise ! How come we haven't heard about her talents sooner ? And those muscular fingers ~ if she's not sure which way to direct the Flower Pot Snow People, my detailed maps of Canada, with my very best colouring-in, are, I assure you, non-copyright and can be downloaded for closer consultation. Lol.

Gilli can be technical advisor. She has lots of know-how there !
She could alter magnetic North. Move it to Fiji. :o)

Even deeper snow here today than earlier in the week.
I've just seen a super photo of Madmum's wellies, which she's just given permission to be on this blog. Please see above ! :o)

Also, please be assured your snail mail is being delivered ! Despite the deep snow, your all-important GoY Wellie Olympics diet sheets are being delivered personally by Conker the Sheltie. Latest photo of Conker on the main GoY pictures shows how he braved the bad weather to help Postman Pat !

5 Feb, 2009

Captain of Inventions! What an honor! Thinking, thinking, thinking. ):-/ Ee-uwh, this is harder than I thought. I think I need to invent an automatic toddy maker to relax me. Testing, testing, testing! My work is never done...testing, testing.
Gilli I think I'm going to need your help with all this testing.

5 Feb, 2009

Glad you approve of your title, Weeds !
I'm sure Gilli will be along soon with her mechanical expertise. :o)

I'm very impressed with the snow-making gadget you've been testing. The white stuff is coming down again this morning.
Could you please make a sunshine gadget for tomorrow ?
Thanks. :o)

6 Feb, 2009

She has a rain gadget going over here that she is testing...things are wet out there and the dogs are not pleased...don't like getting their little paws wet...need to go work with horses today Weed's could you call off the testing for a this afternoon specifically? Need hooves trimmed and we have no cover right now to get out of it... how bout tomorrow for testing instead...K..? Appreciate it..

TT...good thinking of asking her to slow down the testing...on these items...I am sure she has many other things she could be testing....

6 Feb, 2009

Can our Inventions Captain please test some gadgets we could fix to our wellies ?

Such as springs so that we can leap great heights. Could also be good for bouncing up high to clip the tops of the hedges ?

6 Feb, 2009

I am thinking our IV Captain....has many inventions being drawn up..she tends to have an engineering mind...runs in her family....I am looking forward to what she can help us with...we will be sure to beat out the Flower Pot people with her inventive mind....

6 Feb, 2009

We're lucky to have Weeds11.
Dare I ask ~ why eleven ?
What happened to Weeds10 ? :o)

6 Feb, 2009

New picture of Polly the Scottie added today.
Thanks, Pansypotter for this fantastic photo :o)

6 Feb, 2009

glad you like it Terra, she has now promised to keep her rolling training to day light hours, but she is so addicted we will have to wait and see! lol

7 Feb, 2009

People, people...all in good time! I have nearly completed the work on the snow-making device. Patience...this is an all important device; we will have to have snow for the Winter Olympics, you know. The device has to be in working order and in place when Olympic time comes.
Sorry about the glitch with the rain Cat and the directional apparatus TT. I never intended it should snow over there...Developmental error. Had problems with the darned device all day yesterday. On the way to Portland we had snow, then fog, then rain and finally sunshine. I think I have it all worked out.

As we speak I am working on racing skates frozen garden pond racing. I'm thinking wind generator assists on each boot. I think it has potential.

TT the wellie spring idea shows promise. You have a great mind. With your permission I will do some drawings.

7 Feb, 2009

Weeds...my dear ...you did well...the rain stopped and the sun did try to make an appearance while we wrangled two horses with cabin fever Hawk & Tasha and two wild youngens Aries & Flash....they got the feet all trimned up nice...farrier got his hand kicked by Aries hind hoof once and then Aries kneed friend Steven in his... well ...use your imagination..so it was good to have a bit of sun smiling on us...it was almost feeding time too....potential stupidity on our part for that...but we did all live through it..with your help!..Very excited to see the wind turbine on skates idea...oh my..I have never ice skated and this would be a perfect time to give it a go...with wind turbines I should fall even more brilliantly...!!! I could do cartwheels along with David in his kilt...but only across the pond and he would have to have his antigravity sporran working of course.

7 Feb, 2009

Weedy.....<hic>....I'm shtill teshting.....<hic>.....your automatish toddy maker......I shink.....<hic>......I'll be teshting......for quite shome time.......<hic> giggle......If you can make it shmall.....we could.....attachsh one to everybodiesh wellies.....<hic>....for shushtenance.....<burp>...oh, pardon me!!...giggle

7 Feb, 2009

Gilli...your adding in your fairy supping sauce to your toddies again....Weeds you will have to keep a better eye on this one....Gilli remember we have to keep some of that on hand for the Little Forest Fairies who are helping me with Flashes droppings...things will be a mess if you drink it all.......come now....Weeds gonna need..some help with Gilli...she will not give up the toddy testing......Gilli..rrrrrrrr..well as at least share the sauce then....goodness...

7 Feb, 2009

No, no, no.....Itsh MINE....all mine I tell you....

7 Feb, 2009

Cat, we could call it free-style partners pond racing! Marvelous idea!

No, no, Cat. Gilli, is just motivated! Much of inventing is in the strict attention to testing. It's a big job, she may need help. Brilliant idea, Gilli, an attachment...shushtenance..er I mean medicinal only! This could work for the wellie fans in the stands too!
Cat, we'll have to attach pumps so you can be shushtenized while you and David are upsidedown- cartwheeling.

7 Feb, 2009

She is a Lush.....Weeds look at her...won't share....

7 Feb, 2009

~don't forget the cushions tied on at the front and rear in case balance is lost because of too much medicinal shustenance!

7 Feb, 2009

good idea Arlene....Weeds...need some help with this as you know whence one end of me gets to cartwheeling...centrifigul force could take over....may need those cushions on my head...

7 Feb, 2009

you may need to be well padded everywhere Caroline!

7 Feb, 2009

Once again we have Arlene considering everyone's comfort with her fab cushions idea. Well done, Arlene !

I've been out travelling through snow and ice today, so I was very grateful to Weeds whose inventions arranged for bright sunshine for the whole trip.

I had been relying on Cat to keep Gilli under control, but not sure she totally succeeded ? Do we need a new recipe Gilli ?

Would love to see drawings of the Wellie Springs, please.
Maybe they can be added to the blog. If my amazing coloured-in maps can be on the blog, then, hey, anything goes. :o)

Pansypotter could act as Wellie Spring tester, bouncing over Polly the Scottie as she does her special snow-rolling manoeuvres.

Well done to all the Winter Wellie Olympians for coming up with so many great ideas while I've been testing out the snow with Conker in far away places. :o)

7 Feb, 2009

Wonderful cushion idea Arlene. I thinksh I needsh shome right now!! LOL. Catsh....you are jusht jealoush....thish is veeeerry importantsh research.
TT ~ I am perfectly in controlsh...No needsh to worry <hic>...no,no,no,no no new reshipe is nesheshary. Thish is very good..

7 Feb, 2009

All this snow is having a strange effect on Gilli...
quick Weeds, please concoct a cure !!!

Good news on the feline front ~
Hywel's skiing cat Blodyn now has some fellow feline Winter Wellie Olympic team members.

Two new photos added of beautiful Butch and heroic Harry.:o)

8 Feb, 2009

YAY!!!! Butch & Harry!

8 Feb, 2009

The cats and dogs are doing very well with their Olympic events. We don't yet have a photo of Flash in the snow.

8 Feb, 2009

Snow photos of dog-walking wellies and diet-sheet delivering dogs now also on this blog ! :o)

8 Feb, 2009

WELLIE ALERT ~
Today, on British TV news, are reports that due to the wet and cold winter weather, the shops are now running out of wellies !
Please report any Wellie shortages which could restrict our winter training :o)

10 Feb, 2009

I do believe I may have one of Flash in the snow TT...let me have a look...!

10 Feb, 2009

That sounds great.
Well done Cat.
Bruce in his wellies will be another photo soon on here.Lol.

10 Feb, 2009

Fabulous Flash and brave Bruce both now have pictures on this blog. :o)
Thanks to Catfinch and Pollyannaever for these fantastic photos.

10 Feb, 2009

LOL...wish I had a picture of Flash from this winter...this one is when he was younger...he is a bit bigger these days...lol..the blanket is much shorter on him now!

10 Feb, 2009

Nice to have photographic records of how our pets looked in younger years. :o)
Flash is to be commended for the energetic winter training he undertook in the snow today. Lol.

10 Feb, 2009

TT
I've been out of the loop. Hope I haven't missed anything!

12 Feb, 2009

Hi Weeds !
You might have missed the British TV news reports of the possibility of stores running out of wellies due to the bad weather. Could you invent wellie substitutes please ?

12 Feb, 2009

LOL...Weeds!..your work will never be done with TT...and TT..you know there cannot possibly be such a thing as Wellie substitutes!.Goodness they are a British tradition...Ahhh! Could it be? The flower Pot people who have done this? How many Flower pot people have you seen in Wellies?

12 Feb, 2009

And there's yet another development...
On the BBC news reports today, from Dorchester, Dorset.
One of the Woolworths ( Woolies ) store which recently closed, is being reopened with the name of Wellworths, or Wellies !

Could there be a whole new chain of Wellies stores ~
set up by the Flower Pot People ?

Or is it really you, Cat ? Are you setting up Wellies stores in the UK ? :o)

12 Feb, 2009

Now there's a thought...! LOL..Wellies of every size, shape, color , print etc. you could imagine...do you think it would go over TT?....

12 Feb, 2009

TT -What a revolting development!
Surely it is a FPP plot; Cat, I know you too well to think you would stoop so low as to hoard the wellies supply in UK to manipulate the market so you could start a store of your own. Right? RIGHT?....Oh Cat, please tell me I'm right!
(Cat, do you mean a "WeBeeWellies" Store? It could be big! Think of it -acres of wellies all in one location.)

TT- I finished your spring Wellies. We may have to add a safety disclaimer or add a coupon for pilot training. I'll post a photo with my pictures.

12 Feb, 2009

Wow, the plot thickens.....
I'm not sure what's going on here.
Surely not Cat in liaison with the Flower Pot Snow People hoarding the wellies ?
I'll check out Weeds' photos to see what I can discover. :o)

12 Feb, 2009

Oh surely not. Not Cat, she would never do such a dastardly thing. This has the unmistakable stench of a FPP conspiracy to discredit our poor Catfinch.

13 Feb, 2009

How can we prove that our lovely Catfinch is innocent. ?

13 Feb, 2009

Gaaaahhhh...my plans are thwarted...it is out...MY WeeBeeeWellies store...for the Winter Olympics...Weeds..shhhhhhh....I was going to have you in as a partner...now look what you have done...ok..here..have all your Wellies back..bunch of whiney, whingie babies...take your beautiful Wellies...thought everyone had some...TT has millions on her favorites....go shopping there then....K?
Everyone all better now?

Weeds???I am also looking for your drawing with the sproingy things...would have carried those in my WBW store but now look what you have done....arrrgh...

13 Feb, 2009

Can this be a confession? Cat Oh Cat, how could you? Owning WBW and being filthy rich isn't everything. Wait I have to think about this...No it isn't everything. Definitely. I think.

Sad news, During the shortage, I investigated substitutes for Wellies. Around the world several inventions are in the product development stage but thus far all have been abysmal failures. :-(

13 Feb, 2009

I sitll think we could have a WBWellies store at the Winter Olympics...with sproingy things...

13 Feb, 2009

Saw WB and thought it might be short for Welsh Boots ...
the plot thickens.....

13 Feb, 2009

Ummmm..Wee..Bee Wellies TT...I am sure Mr. Welsh Boots will be there but most likely in disguise...LOL...delightful intriguing fellow isn't he....ahh..MWB...xx's...from your QC.

Now Weed's sproingy photo's please...drum..drum..drum..drumming my fingers...

13 Feb, 2009

MWB in disguise ?
At the GoY Winter Wellie Olympics ?
What might he be wearing QC ?

13 Feb, 2009

LOL

13 Feb, 2009

Disguise TT...LOL..I cannot tell...LOL..would not be a diguise then would it..?

13 Feb, 2009

I reckon Noseypotter knows :o)

13 Feb, 2009

ofcourse lol

13 Feb, 2009

Cat, get a sneak peak of the "sproingy thoings" on my pictures.

13 Feb, 2009

Do tell, Potter! "Inquiring minds want to know!"

13 Feb, 2009

No he does not...LOL
NP..you are pulling TT's leg...LOL

13 Feb, 2009

OH Boy..oh Boy..I will go look right now..had my fingers bout drummed to the bone...

Chummy and Scrunchion's latest training photo is now available for viewing. Special thanks to Newfienurse. :o)

16 Feb, 2009

Thanks for including my canine daughters on your very interesting blog...
You must hold the record for the most comments on a blog???? If not you must be getting close!

17 Feb, 2009

Hi NN ~
This Winter Wellie Blog is about 500 comments less that the original Wellie Blog which has about 670 comments. Lol.
Maybe as 2010 approaches this Winter blog will catch up.
I'm hoping so ! :o)

17 Feb, 2009

Supercat Smeagols is the latest fantastic photo to be added this blog.
Thanks to Lynne and Paul of Thenorfolkshed. :o)

20 Feb, 2009

Oh dear, I seem to have a lot of catching up to do. I've been in Fairyland looking for gold under the magic mushrooms.

20 Feb, 2009

Hello Gillian ~
Are you having a TT day ?
Have you been looking for Olympic Gold under the fungi ?

Have you seen my little fun guy ?
i.e. my new puppy, Truffle. Lol.

20 Feb, 2009

I wasn't on a TT day yet, just noticed there seemed to be a lot of new comments on this blog so came to see!
I have seen your new puppy - adorable! Still lots of mischief?

20 Feb, 2009

Yes, thanks. Truffle is lovely, and very mischievous.
Puppies are small for such a short time that I don't want to miss a moment. :o)

20 Feb, 2009

Yesterday I watched BBC TV's Question of Sport programme.
For overseas members, this is a fun quiz show between two teams, each comprised of three men or women from the world of sport.

The question came up asking where in Canada the Winter Olympics will be held in 2010....
..... No member on either team knew the answer !

We GoY Wellie Olympians all know it is... ..............V-A-N-C-O-U-V-E-R. :o)

21 Feb, 2009

OH you know we Goyians are so smart..no getting round it....basic geniuses we are!!! uhmmmm....yep..polishing up my little smart star.....very shiny it is ..uh huh...

22 Feb, 2009

The blog was FANTASTIC I really enjoyed the read.
Some wonderful photos.
All the best Sofiejo

24 Feb, 2009

Hello Sj ~
I'm pleased you like this blog.
From time to time new photos are added and I always put a comment on this thread to let readers know. :o)

24 Feb, 2009

Two wonderful new pictures added today.
Thanks to Lori for the fantastic photo of Mandy in the snow, and to Ducky for her glamorous girls in their pink wellies ! :o)

25 Feb, 2009

Ducky, what a perfect picture! Can't even begin to tell you how many memories of my childhood this brings back.

Lori, Love Mandy in the snow. Have a soft spot in my heart for big dogs.

25 Feb, 2009

Hello Weeds ~
So glad you found the new pictures.
Good additions to our Wellie blog :o)

25 Feb, 2009

Thanks for posting that pic TT - it is one of my favourites of the girlies - they were messing about in there for ages.

26 Feb, 2009

Hi Ducky ~
Very pleased to have your pink-wellie girls on the Winter Wellie Blog.
I'm not surprised the photo is one of your favourites.
It's a lovely picture. It's on my GoY favourites :o)

26 Feb, 2009

TT ~ I've been out with the flame thrower for ages .... days.... weeks....and I seem to be making very little progress with melting this snow....Everytime I melt some it snows some more.....I'm running out of fuel.....whatever shall I do??????

26 Feb, 2009

Hello Gilli ~

Which crops can we grow for you to make more flame thrower fuel. ? Not a lot of room in my kitchen as I'm already growing passion flower seedlings everywhere all over the worktops. Could you melt the snow with passion flowers ?

Or I could send Truffle the puppy. He could melt the snow very quickly, with little hot puddles everywhere. He seems to have a never-ending supply. Don't eat the yellow snow. Lol.

26 Feb, 2009

Here's something for the GoY Winter Wellie Olympians ~
Described in one newspaper as a piece of utter clutter, it is a glove and boot dryer ~
It has a built-in fan to circulate air around your wet gloves and wellies !

As my old Uncle would have said ~
You can't afford not to have one !

1 Mar, 2009

Gilli..it is this blog causing all your snow!!!..I have it figured now...you poor thing..TT..I have to say something about this to the weather Gods, they have lost track and Canada is being left in winter for the games year round I fear our Gilli is going to go mad!!!
Here goes...
For now we are looking forward, Winter & Spring Weather Gods, to signs of spring..we know you are excited about the WWOlympics...you must not worry that Goyians will lose track ,oh no they won't and Dear Wellie Gods..we will always wear our Wellies even those of us who just call them rubber boots..so let Gilli have spring signs pop out..we do not want to have her go mad..Thanks..and good job otherwise...thanks again... :o)

1 Mar, 2009

Cat ~
I have an idea. Do you think if I drew a weather map of Canada with sunshine symbols all over it, the snow would melt ? I could add it to this blog....

Of course, with puppy to look after, I can't guarantee the colouring-in will be up to my usual standards, but I'm willing to have a try....

then Gilli and friends could get out in their gardens with the spring flowers, and summer sun beds. :o)

P.S.
Today I put a comment on my original Wellie blog #1.....
only a very few can reach the depth of the 670+ comments.... I doubt if I'll get a reply...... :o(

1 Mar, 2009

Good idea TT...sunshine weather map..I know I won't see your message there..my computer locks up if I even click on it..LOL..what did you say?..now I am so curious... :( ?

1 Mar, 2009

I'm guessing it might be in my outbox ............... :o)

I'll get working on the map as soon as Truffle the puppy permits. Could be ready by 2010 with any luck. :o)

I'll add the weather map to this blog as soon as completed.:o)

1 Mar, 2009

Oh yeah...ok..outbox..lol..don't have to take a chance on locking up my computer then..lol...
Custard the puppy..oops! I meant Truffle the puppy...custard onthe brain...sorry..keeping you on the run still I take it...has he got a job for the Wellie Olympics yet? (not going to say winter) Try to get the Weather Gods back on track...ya know...

1 Mar, 2009

Truffle's task for the Wellie Olympics is to exhaust the Flower Pot People.
He is capable of tiring out anyone and everyone in a very short space of time.
I'm sharpening my crayons ready for the weather map....

1 Mar, 2009

Latest pictorial additions ~

Thanks to Ktshoot ~ Daring "Dips" in the snow.

and with the help of Truffle the puppy ~
warm weather map for Canada, March 2009 !!!

1 Mar, 2009

Oh boy we have to make sure Gilli see's this ..she just told me that the snow is beginning to melt and there has been some warmer breezes...it is working already TT!..YAY!..plus I did ask her to stop stomping her feet and yelling at the Weather Gods...she said she decided try it and say something nice and then it all started to turn warmer...lol...

2 Mar, 2009

Yes, yes, yes,......It's MELTING....It's Melting.....
Puddles everywhere....rivers of meltwater....a flooded carport......drip, drip, drip......grass even appearing at the edge of the path.....Yahoo!! Yippee!!! Yay!!
Thank you Cat....Thank you TT....your plans are working....Another week like this and spring will certainly be here..... :o) :o) :o) :oD

3 Mar, 2009

Very glad my sunny weather map of Canada has helped melt the snow and enable the plants to sprout !!!

The latest Winter training photo, put on this blog today, is from Irish and John, showing Pip's amazing moves on the downhill slalom snowboarding. Gold medal performance. :o)

6 Mar, 2009

TT, Irish, I think I have fallen in love with Pip. Looks like he is enjoying the snow! What a cutey!

6 Mar, 2009

And what an athlete !
Pip was photographed during special snow training manoeuvres in Scotland :o)

6 Mar, 2009

6 Mar, 2009

LOL..that Pip looks so out of control...lol...and laughing and enjoying himself way too much...what do you feed that dog Irish?..lol..

7 Mar, 2009

im beginning to wonder myself about pips food CJ lol

7 Mar, 2009

Maybe we should all eat whatever is in Pip's food.
Give us more energy. Lol.

Thanks, Eileen.
GoY members have contributed wonderful photos to this blog. :o)
