About me

I am a relative newcomer to being a serious gardener. I am slowly developing my knowledge trying to find the right balance with nature. My garden is fairly large, south facing in a rural location and is on quite a steep slope. Working in my garden has become more like a full time vocation.

In 2008 I built a new summer house and new introductions to the garden were alliums(see blog), gladiolli, lilies and dahlias. I also started a butterfly garden.

In 2009 I started building a new garden shed, new woodshed and two ponds. I then started collecting water plants and had my first attempt at growing roses (see blog). I discovered I liked euphorbia and also tried out some climbers. I commenced composting for the first time too.

For 2010 I hope to work more to planting plans to generate seasonal interest in different areas of the garden.

I took up photography as a hobby in 2008 and I like taking photos of wildlife. I also enjoy walking in the hills.

I joined GOY to make new gardening friends hence the name I chose. I welcome and benefit from the advice of members and am not offended by suggestions for improvements to my garden.
