I can't remember if 'Masquerade' was scented....too long ago!

On photo - Multicolor Rose

I do! They were planted there years ago because they were considered sacred - and they were supposed to keep evil spirits away.

Also, the wood was used for longbows - and as people knew that the trees' parts were toxic to animals, they planted them in enclosed areas where the animals couldn't eat them...i.e. graveyards!

On question - Old Yew Tree trouble.

Yes - so have I. Salvia x jamensis 'Skylights Primrose'. (I had to check the name on my plant list!) Is that the one you've got? It's still flowering well at the moment! Pretty, too.

On photo - Salvia microphylla

Thanks....

Who, me, Morgana? Or Doreen?

On blog - Rained off

There should be a little controversy...imagine how boring it would be if we all agreed with each other all the time!

War, though....no thanks... Been there, done that, glad it's over.:-((

I'm off out to collect another binbag of leaves - the rain has stopped! We had 12mm......good for the garden, eh?

Well done! I seem to wear boots mostly - well, with dog-walking and gardening, it's not surprising, is it?

FUN?? lol. OK - maybe not!

THAT's what I need for amongst my thuggish Jap. Anemones! I'm clearing them gradually, but they grow so tall and flop over in spite of staking!

I posted a photo of the V. t. 'Variegatum' leaves last night. It got a bit surrounded by taller plants, but it's alive and kicking! Just no flowers yet - but it may do now it has light again.

On blog - 'Berry' nice!

Thanks, Paul - I was tempted by that very plant last Christmas - drawn to it by the scent! I think from what you've said, I might give in to temptation this year.

Errrr....I think it was a S. confusa....is there another one with an even stronger scent?

Yes - V. tinus is one I wouldn't be without. Did you see that I'm the proud owner of a variegated one? Love it - just love it! lol.

On blog - 'Berry' nice!

Thanks, Bamboo - what a nice thing to say! Maybe I should get a bit more 'direct' with some of my comments??? LOL. What do you think - time for a personality make-over??

What a shame you didn't get any conclusive results, Mg. Next year should be interesting, though! Keep us posted.

I was offered one - guess what! I declined it...gracefully, I hope! NO WAY am I having one in my garden! Silly? Maybe.

Bamboo - I do hope you haven't got me in mind?? :-((

We shouldn't laugh - but it was funny! :-D

Welcome to GOY, by the way!

No wonder they caught your eye, Frank! Lovely. :-))

Squirrels really can be a nuisance in the garden - we don't have them here, thank goodness! Sweet to look at only, I'm afraid.

In our previous garden, they dug up my containers and planted acorns and conkers everywhere INCLUDING in my containers! They were always trying to get the birds' food as well - but that was quite funny, really - we tried outwitting them in all kinds of ways!

I've been to Arundel once - I seem to remember it, though - thanks for the photos!

Jacque - Leeds Castle was quite close to our previous home in Kent - I know it well! :-))

Whar a brilliant idea! It looks great. :-))

On blog - Making use of !!!

Lake Como is on my list to visit - even more so, now! Have you been to Lake Maggiore?
