Hello. This is a while since you put this photo out but we're a group of volunteers running the hydrangea paniculata collection in Derby. Have a look at our website on www.hydrangeaderby.co.uk and our facebook page. We are short of H pan 'Pink Jewel' and would very much like to add it to our collection (Plant Heritage registered) Would it be possible to get either softwood (a bit late for this season) or hardwood cuttings which we can grow on and add to the pantheon of paniculata! Looking forward to hearing from you. Alison Grimwood.

What a beauty. If I could only have one rose in my garden, it would be this one.

I'm glad you commented on here, Callie, as that meant that I saw the blog too, and I too love daisy type plants and I will be looking for the tall ones, although perhaps my dad will have some going spare as he has lots in his garden.

I loved reading this blog,I bought three asters this morning with no information on the pots, apart from one with the name aster starletta.

I do that with my patio planters. Its great because you can have plants flowering at different seasons and just change them over when they have finished flowering.

Great story, and I have an idea maybe for those shape pots.... possibly put plants in more normal shape/straight side/easier to manage pots and then place those inside the fancy pot?

They often have some very choice items at those places but they also charge a premium for them, at least they do in my area.

It sets it off beautifully, Spritz.

Wish I had somewhere to place such a gorgeous display.

It would have broke my heart to smash that pot but it seems there was nothing you could have done about it. The new one looks lovely all planted up. Your rose is beautiful :)

Really thirteen years was a long time to keep in a pot lol they grow massive here in the South, except for two small varieties, ours are in the ground, even then I prune them, and split every six years....
Shame about that gorgeous pot, better luck with the new one.......Love Lady of Shalott.

Well the new pot certainly is an improvement on the latter days of the original plant. We find when we buy plants from a Garden Centre that often roots are pot-bound and we have to transplant them.
Does the rose have a strong scent?

Oh dear, I've done the same but only recently, planted 2 red robin either s7de of my front door and I know I'm storing up trouble. Saying all that, you have replaced it with a really nice pot and the rose looks terrific.

It's superb, just need to convince OH to invest is such a lovely urn and stand!

That is of course the problem with that lovely shaped pot, we all have them and if it's anything with a large rootball, your story will be the result. Didn't you feel the need, for old times sake, to keep a piece of the Phormium, it was very pretty?

Oh, I feel your pain, but I really like your happy ending.
I've got 3 tall tom pots (think that's what they are called), that with hindsight I planted up with the wrong plants years ago. I have decided I need to remove the plants, but this is exactly what I'm worried will happen when I do.

Such a shame you broke the pot . Your new Rosa ‘Lady of Shalott looks much nicer.
