Oh dear, you've had some rain Sandra :-(

the valley floods most winters..but it usualy takes weeks/months for it to happen. the rain last night was of biblical proportions.....i nearly didnt make it home as so many roads were flooded. we got off very lightly all things concidered...the only damage was a window blew in, in the livingroom but we managed to get it back in place and now we have 8 concrete blocks and a punch bag holding it in place till the winds calm and we can do something about it.

Good gracious Sandra - how awful it has been for you. Thank goodness you have a punch bag to hand, ha ha.

it was the heaviest thing i could find...living this close to the sea we do get some wild weather. but we stayed dry and only one window damged. having seen the welsh news we got off very lightly. and the benefits are, i've been watching the ducks on our new lake through the binoculars today...;-))

Pleased to hear you missed the worst Sandra.
It doesnt take ducks long to find water, how lovely.

Ooooer...looks a bit damp your way! It was like that over the fields from us too.

Oh dear ! Well it wasn't too bad here in this bit of Carmarthenshire Sandra

Reminds me how it was earlier this year when we received record monsoonal rain and cyclonic winds. Hope it calms down for you soon.

Our East coast has been tortured by this same storm system I think..Sandra. My friend in Virginia has been having to deal with 9 inches rain in one night and flooding and 50 mph winds as well...big storm I think..We have had some high winds and now today it is in the 30's farenheight mind you.. :o) and they are saying possible snow in the lower elevations..seems more wintery all the time!

Sorry to hear about the damage Sandra; these storms are fun to watch on the telly but not so if its you property being damaged.Putting my gardeners hat on, any damage to your nursery stock?

15 Nov, 2009

it was not to bad up here yesterday there was no wind like you had and no heavy rain.

15 Nov, 2009

OMG i bet you are glad your up from that sandra ;o(

Get down there with a bucket and bottle it. 'Pure valley water' Well, every other area seems to do it!!!!!

well you will all be glad to here the window is now fixed firmly into place. cant open it as Julian used some big screws just to make it safe. but the tinsel will hide those till the new year when funds will hopefully allow a new one...;-))

San yes im glad i live halfway up the hill...lol

Paul our farm is called Corseside-meaning side of a corse(a small stream at the bottom) along both sides of the valley there are underground streams feeding the corse. most of the houses on both sides have their own water supply we share one with next door. it tastes lovely but in heavy rain it turns 'green'......

Rbtkew I put my gardeners hat on this morning and went outside to check the damage...i am delighted to report just a few pots over and two plug trays of anthemis cuttings blown over. couldnt find the trays but managed to replug most of them. i was amazed and spent the rest of the day in the polytunel sorting out the remaining tomato plants. managed to pick a nice bowl full and cleared away a few spent plants. shirley and ildi still producing and ripening.....hopeing for a few for christmas fingers crossed...
