Happy to read that your plants have stayed with you, Spritz. We've had no rain at all for over 2 weeks - until this morning, so am here in the library again. I discovered that our neighbour's guttering has a bad leak, which has totally flooded some pots of lilies in my new alley garden - washed them clean out of the pots onto the ground - aargh!!

Glad to see that your plantings did very well Spritz. All your hard work and precautions has paid off. We just had a series of thunderstorms come through here this afternoon. Three of them and the rain each time was torrential. Thank God, no damage. Everything sure got a good soaking. Best of luck with the next heavy rains.

Help me out here Spritz or am I having a senior moment? Is this a follow up from your last period of rain or you sending Grenville more plants? Did you post blog about stream and we discussed skunk cabbage or am I psychic
experiencing Deja Vu or plain nuts ? My therapist thinks Im watching too many re -runs .

Hi Spitzhenry, in reply to your message about our willow - the one that's going - do you know whether one of these could be grown in a pot?
Ours is so large and the garden so tiny but, as you say, it is a lovely feature. So if we could take a cutting and grow a mini version it would be fab!

They are both beautiful whatever they're called. When I get my new camera I'll take a picture of my New Dawn and we can compare them. I often find wrongly labelled plants.

Hi Spritzhenry, Yes french marigolds grown in pots alongside tomatoes, cucumbers and Peppers will keep whitefly and greenfly at bay. Apparently it is the aroma from the scent which the aphids do not like. It has certainly worked for me so give it a go.
On question - Keeping whitefly away from the g...
The rose I have called New Dawn is paler than this. It has a lovely scent and it climbes. Maybe it was wrongly labelled when I bought it, but the pictures of New Dawn that I've seen in books all look pale pink. You didn't say if the other one is a climber.

I think this is what they call woolly thyme. Good name isn't it?
