Carrots in Cloches

Hurrah. Have finally ordered my PoshCloche on good ole ebay but need some advice on growing under cloches.
Do I have to close / block off the ends of the cloche or will it generate enough heat to get seeds going if i leave the ends open. I was going to start with carrot seeds.? We are in south of UK.
All advice appreciated
Many thanks

An open ended cloche can create a wind tunnel effect, so if it has no 'ends' thread some wind-break or shade netting onto sticks and push them into the ground at each end to soften the breeze.Or staple plastic round a couple of canes for more protection. Put the cloche in place a week before you plant up to warm the soil.
