Carrots

Hello my green fingered people. I grow some carrots in large containers this year as iam short on space. Grow them in doors at first then transplanted them outside in big containers. They grow to a good size however, many of them seem to have two or three fingers attached. It just would have been nice to have more ordinary shaped rather than three large fingers. Why and how can I rectify this problem for the future.

hi, its partly because you transplanted them. sow them in the big pot right from the off. use a fine soil that is not too richly fed as that also causes forking. they will still tatse ok, just not too pretty to look at :o)
