the willow is quite poisonas to fish but i dont know about lillies.as seaburn sais lift the planter up onto a couple of heavy blocks but if these are the leaves on the new pond they obviously can reach the top easy enough in there adult form.again as seaburn sais most lillies are from apserlutly still ponds so cant tolerate any movement .there are a couple of river veriaties but these arnt as the river ones are a lot brighter green.you know the lillies in the picture look almost like theyve got dust on the leaves like house plants get if you dont spray and wipe them.perhaps that is the answer as lillies normaly are pretty tough but look shiny.perhaps the lillies cant photosynthasize properly with that dust/scum on them as that is the reasen they are there.perhaps try wiping a few choice leaves regulerly and see if they fair better.lillies like lots of sunlight or most do .maybe the willow cuts out to much light.the pond is clear because of the lillies/shade as algi need lots of light.my ponds clear as a bell but its totaly coverd and i cant grow lillies or algi.

you cant especialy now youve put it in the ground.you could ofr kept it smaller bye bonzi, ing it ie keep it in a smaller container so as to stunt it.it mite and its a big mite grow a new shoot if you butcher the top of but probably not.i wonder why you want such a lovley plant shorter just out of curiosity excuse the spelling.some times the obvious answer to a puzzle isnt the only one.you just need another angle on looking at it.as my nan said r.i.p 2 heads are better than 1 even if there sheeps heads.

thanx milky take care bye for now x

On question - Growth of roots

do them all as they will all struggle and if you were to do one it should be the healthiest one as it is stressfull being moved especialy this time of year

i digress i think it would be possible if you could support the grow bag all the way round on its side giving them the depth they need.the most importent question is why would you want or need to grow them in a grow bag.if its room just poar the grow bag contents into a deep and possibly slim container as they need depth as aposed to width.

On question - growing leeks

sounds like what i said but better info

all plants have a place but your averadge garden isnt it .theres so many stunning trees and shrubs you could have.

here here

On question - holly trees

as a basic rule of thumb there will be about as much root bye volume as tree and bye nature the tap root will keep comming down till it hits the water table which can be very deep.other outward roots are for feeding and support .pine trees have quite small root balls as they rely on being in forests for support and there isnt much greenery above.being in a forest all the nutrients and water are at the surface.this is why cutting down jungles is so devistating as all your left with is lifeless sandy soil.trees that stand alone like a big oak weigh maybe upwards of 10-20 tons of wood to support in the wind to and rain

On question - Growth of roots

look on a professional grape vine site say for growing grapes for wine.you need to keep the vine small and spread out on wires so the plant doesnt need to use to much energy or water on the plant.its eaier to reach.the grapes are nearly all water so lots of it and not to much actual vine.theres more to it than that but thats the basics

On question - How to tend grapes?

also drill the cross members and put them to the wall rather than the uprights.plants need to grow and be helped up the outside of the trellis.not behind it betwen the wall and the trellis

On question - trellis

maybe water or lack of and or a feed.mite be worth digging over the dirt right round the base of the tree so the water runs more readily to the roots.a better idear if it is a watering issue is to bury a plastic pipe right down to the roots.you can then feed the tree vier this directly to the root ball.yopur water table mite be a very long way down and the picture looks like its quite a young small tree.

i dont realy know but what i do know bye nature is that a grow bag is quite thin and leeks bye nature are quite tall deep growing plants .i guess if you could support the grow bag on its side then you will definatly be able to.i wonder what makes it necceserry excuse my terrible spelling to need or want to grow leeks in a grow bag.the answer would be much easier with that little bit of information .im not sure im right as i dont grow vedge but im quite sure as leeks mature theres a fare praportion of leek under the ground ie the white part.
