Hi Everyone

Today I met up with 2 goy friends at a garden centre near Burnham on sea, we had a great time chatting and laughing and of course making a few purchases along the way.

We spent a couple of hours together then we said our goodbyes and went on our way home.

BUT as I turned into the road to eventually take me home which was just a minutes drive from the garden centre I discovered a drive way with some plants out the front and a sign saying plants for sale, I naturally turned round and went to investigate.

I discovered a true plant heaven and I was in my element, there was everything you could imagine and the prices were so good I just had to buy a good box full of plants, The people were so nice, it was such a ramshackle place all higgledy piggledy but full or character, charm and great plants!

I left £30 odd pound lighter and tootled along the road music blaring out and windows open feeling very happy, about 10 minutes later I noticed another sign for plants for sale, I had to turn round again and go back, again another plant heaven! this was great, I bought some pinks, 3 primula vialli, a red lychnis and some others I can’t remember, I even bought a dozen large free range eggs for £2.10, Fantastic.

I tootled home through Cheddar gorge back home enjoying the afternoon sunshine.

What a fantastic day, meeting friends and finding bargains, my perfect day,
but my what a naughty boy i’ve been…lol

Here’s some pictures

Regards, Mick

24 Apr, 2010

HEY!! I shall want to know exactly where this 'plant heaven' is, and so will Louise!

We had a great session at the GC, didn't we - poking around amongst all those plants in the sun..lovely. :-)))

24 Apr, 2010

Of course I shall let you know Barbara!

A great time yes, 3 goyers in a garden centre is a formidable sight!

I got a bit of heat stroke I reckon, I felt quite nauseus when i got home, my neck and face are red roe! but great fun nonetheless!

24 Apr, 2010

What a great lot of plants there! Well done you!

24 Apr, 2010

Especially at the check-out, Mick, with three trolleys in a row. Poor check-out lady! Bet her heart sank when she saw us coming...LOL.

It 'was' hot there - I had to go back in for some water before I set off home. Are you OK now?

24 Apr, 2010

Ha ha, it was the check out lady that needed the water!

Yes it was really hot, I don't think we realised how hot!

i'm fine now thanks, the nausea didn't last too long, it is very unpleasant though, there you are, for 6 miserable months we've craved the heat and then when it comes we make ourselves i'll with it! lol.

24 Apr, 2010

perhaps all the excitment... day out.... bargain plants..... has been to much for you ! ! lovely blog

24 Apr, 2010

24 Apr, 2010

Hi Seaburn

It was a great laugh!

I'm coming up tomorrow to stay with dad and sheena for couple of days in finkle street.

I'm going to design my neices new garden, they got a place in barrington ave.

24 Apr, 2010

oh what a shame I'm in sunderland at my brothers. we could have met up otherwise. Barrington Ave as in off cottingham road? I used to live near there in my student das. ah what fun.

24 Apr, 2010

Wow, you've got a lovely lot of goodies there Mick !
Your pusscat will have to give those plants a 'once-over' .... 'my' cats do anyway .... they can smell allsorts on them, i'm sure !!!

25 Apr, 2010

A lovely healthy looking "haul" there......I can just imagine the look on the face of the lady in the GC......she'll be used to Louise and Spritz.......but three of you !!!!...lol

25 Apr, 2010

Tsk !
It looked like a convoy Alice ;-)
A convoy of trolleys stacked with plants :-)))

25 Apr, 2010

Micky, 'Didn't you do well' they're going to be a challenge when it comes to finding space for them. Acorns grow into very big trees, perennials not so big but they do it quicker !! I recon with the 'Credit crunch' perhaps we'll see a lot more plant sale signs.

25 Apr, 2010

Hi Louise

I'd totted it all up, I spent £74 but I have 35 plants plus 6 nemisia plugs, I can't believe it! I have a catmint and perovskia in there so it's a pretty pungent smell, also the nicest pelergonium you've ever seen, very attractive thing, delicate white flowers on it!

25 Apr, 2010

Hi Alice and Louise

Yeah the lady was a bit phazed to be honest, no credit crunch in that convoy!

25 Apr, 2010

Hi Heron

I'm so pleased with it all!, wow £74 for 35 odd plants, but I think that's amazing!
A tootle round the countryside can be a dangerous occupation lol!

25 Apr, 2010

That is a shame Seaburn, it would have been nice to meet you, no garden centres though, I think That stash is quite enough now, lol.

25 Apr, 2010

Well Chris didnt you do well. I have to buy plants on line, living in London. I can see that your garden will be a mass of colour come summer, Please put a picture up when you find homes for them, all it will be fantastic I'm sure. Well done you!!

25 Apr, 2010

Thank you Great!

I'm sort of dreading it as I think some older tired stuff will have to go as the new stuff is probably better suited and more low growing!

Well see.

Regards, Mick

25 Apr, 2010

Oh my goodness Mickey, didn`t you do well! I`m a sucker for a bargain too and when faced with the chance of some more great plants I would have done the same...lol! :o)
