***WE DID IT.....AND THE WEATHER WAS PERFECT***update ***

How lucky was that? the weather had been absolutely terrible the day before we were due to open the garden for the NGS so bad, we thought we might have to cancel, but, what would we do with 10 cakes? and 40 scones?

The next morning started off quite fresh, with a short sharp shower, but in the afternoon the sun came out, and that was that. and the next day was even better…..so here are some very random photographs taken on the day, and the following day of various parts of the garden, you may need a drink on the side…..

Today it is back to normal, chucking it down and windy, just right for Cowes Week!!…even our water butt is full!

Thanks to Siris for supporting us yet again, and bringing her OH….who is not really into gardening bless him!!

We raised over £700.00 so it was worth all the hard work, mostly done by my OH due to me being so poorly in the Spring, I do know someone was on our side!!
We are already making plans for the garden, a few improvements here and there…….
Thank you for taking the time to read this blog, and plough through all the photographs…..
Angela
Update when we totted up all the monies and donations it came to just over £900.00, so it was worth the effort!! will we be up for it next year?…..who knows, as the saying goes if the good Lord spares us!

I really enjoyed that Angela, especially having visited in the past I can recognise where the photos were taken, and can see a few changes. Well worth all the work as you say. Love it. Well done.

Well done, Angela & OH! That's a terrific looking garden! What's with the 3 blue fish? I had to look closer as on first look I couldn't make out what it was I was supposed to be seeing!

You made a fantastic amount of money for the charity! Well done again! I hope you are much recovered from your previous "ordeal".

Dd...Your garden looks fabulous...wish i could have been there....what is the beautiful copper coloured plant 4th pic from the top please?

2 Aug, 2017

What a great result - especially taking account of the setbacks earlier in the year. £700 is mind blowing amout to have raised in just two days - you must be thrilled!
Did you make all those perfect looking cakes?

Your garden looks fantastic, your OH did well while you where recovering. Talking of which, you "sound" great and I hope that you continue, it's nice to have you back. Well done for raising all that money. Looking at all that baking made me hungry :-).

You have a fabulous garden and I wish I lived closer so that I could wander round it too. You did so well and raised a wonderful amount.....as for the cakes, they look truly delicious!

Thank you all so much for your kindness......we were amazed so many people attended.... answering some of your questions......I am doing well health wise, and hopefully will continue to do so....God willing!
Stera I made the majority of cakes, with help from family and neighbour, but not the scones, because my scones are rubbish!!
Motty this plant was really popular at Chelsea last year and Hampton Court this year.......it is a Coleus, we found it in our local nursery two years ago, OH takes cuttings to keep it going....
Balcony they are hand made glass fish, they are supposed to be in with our grasses, but we could not get them past the first foot of pebbles, a job to be done this week, I will put another pic on, and hopefully you will see the effect lol!!
Shirley we are very pleased with the new fencing, and now the roses and Clematis have somewhere to climb and cling on to....
Amy it is hard work.....and this year even more tricky, but, we got there in the end!
Cinders pleased you enjoyed the tour, we have made a few changes since you last visited!
Jenlewis, being as the majority of the money goes to Macmillan and Marie Curie....it is only fitting we open for the NGS.....I am pleased to be back again on this great site again....
Thanks for your comments, much appreciated....Angela

Looking round your garden makes me want loads!!! A pergola, some lollipop trees, mend our dovecote and put up again, some of the black succulents (forget the name) and to definitely grow some Coleus next year, yours are so striking. Wonderful photo's and the sun shone for you too.

The cakes look gorgeous and are those chocolate brownies?

8 Aug, 2017

Eirlys so kind.......it was hard work, but we were so pleased it went well, lucky with the weather, has been awful since then....
They are brownies made by our youngest daughter, they smelled delicious!! pity I am not eating chocolate!

8 Aug, 2017

Lovely garden and cakes too!

9 Aug, 2017

Well done to you both, that's a fantastic result for all your hard work!
Your garden certainly has the WOW factor - it's just stunning. I don't know how you've done it all especially as the weeks before were pretty dismal weatherwise. Just looking after all those pots is task enough, as for those cakes ... well yummy.
So pleased you are doing well after the rotten time you've had.
I really like those glass fish, I can just see them hovering over a little pond, :)

9 Aug, 2017

Annalise thank you, I hope you're well, haven't seen you for ages..xx
Green finger how kind you are, the Gods were certainly on our side, the weather now is horrendous! wet and very very cold!
As for the fish they have been moved waiting for a couple more to make a shoal,l I agree they would look good over a pond, but not possible at the moment, may get some orange/red ones at a later date for the pond!! watch this space......

9 Aug, 2017

I believe the rain has settled over E Anglia so you may get some respite - I always think of August being a wet month but this one is surpassing itself.

10 Aug, 2017

After all the rain we had on Wednesday the weather has settled down & we have had a really lovely weekend - especially today, Sunday!

13 Aug, 2017

Long may it last, the nights are already chilly.

13 Aug, 2017

Balcony we did have a lovely warm weekend, Green finger they are I am sitting in a fleece this evening.....

19 Aug, 2017

Look forward to seeing you then!!

19 Aug, 2017

Lovely garden, yummy looking cakes too, everything looks so well cared for and under control DD. I am so pleased to see you are able to open the garden to visitors and raised so much money for good causes. Your husband must have worked so hard. Sorry to be tail end Charlie but my OH keeps getting carted off to hospital quite a lot, very distracting on all fronts. Keep up the good work.

11 Sep, 2017
