๐Ÿ๐Ÿ–๐ŸŒฑOur Jungle๐Ÿ๐Ÿ–๐ŸŒฑ

When we moved here 20 years ago..this was the concreted side entrance to a ridiculously small garage, with a horrible breeze block wall on our neighbours side.(.on reflection we really should have enlarged the kitchen another mistake
)….in time we took down the garage, the breeze block wall and removed the concrete and fenced the area and put in a gate…..which gave us a decent sized space to play with….so we built a jungle……doesnโ€™t everyone?
This is what it looks like today….we have three sentry style sheds……our compost bin ( new this year) and the bins…also our award winning ๐Ÿ’ง water butt! and a window box…..several pots…..bags of compost and a stack of garden chairs…..
The planting consists of a large yellow bamboo, a trachycarpus fortunei another palm and several bananas also several large Cannas, despite the heat and the wind the bananas have gone bananas!!…..at the bottom where the garage was our enormous Tetrapanax Rex ….a Gunnera and a tree fern another Trachycarpus Wagnerianus are all fighting for supremacy……

The tree fern…..and the Gunnera will be moved in the Autumn to the top of the garden…..the shed will have to be moved about two ft to give the bananas more room, excuse the chairs, we really need a large summer house ๐Ÿ  to keep all our rubbish in…lol basically this is fairly easy to maintain…..we remove the lower leaves of the trachys and the tetrapanax and keep an eye on the bamboo!the Cannas we leave in the ground….simple..
So thatโ€™s the jungle folks……should you be feeling adventurous…and fancy having a go…..thanks for reading my ramblings…..

Love it! Looks so lush and green, Dd. We had a trachycarpus before we built our snug extension. Why did we skip it? Goodness knows...I think it would be a lovely big specimen now..๐Ÿ™
I always fancied a banana plant, but I donโ€™t have the room now. I had a patient many years ago, who had a few and he moved them into one of his greenhouses during the cold seasons. We were talking about bamboo the other day on here, and I was advised if I was potting it - itโ€™d be a big one. I like the idea of a jungle style corner with lush, verdant, tall planting to add some privacy and to evoke holidays abroad.

I love your jungle Dd but wouldn't have a clue how to look after any of them, plus I don't think they would survive in our type of soil.....
