Ten years ago, we……well I ……purchased a tulip tree (Liriodendron) for the back garden…when our county organiser For the NGS vetted the garden, she remarked …..you do realise they get very large……welll she was right.
Last year we said if it doesnโ€™t flower then it will have to come out…we were hoping it would flower this year, but no such luck…

You can see how tall it is…..and despite OH having a safety ladder…he will not be doing it…a job for the tree ๐ŸŒฒ surgeons methinks….
Oh well……we live and learn, donโ€™t we.?

Crikey, itโ€™s a big one Dd! Youโ€™ve been very patient all these years! I didnโ€™t realise there was such a thing..googled it now and it does look like a very pretty tree.

How disappointing. I've only seen two but they were both bigger, ie wider than that one,so you have made the right decision. Sending sympathy.

We have a tulip tree and it is out growing its space!! My husband keeps trimming it but one day, quite soon, it will have to go, which is a shame as it is very pretty. We have never had flowers on ours either!

But you've had 10 years to enjoy it, DD. Will this be part of the redesign?

We do live and learn Angela! I think its best to get it out now....it will be too big by the time it flowers. Good decision. :)

Lol Karen......we took out our Parrotia a few months ago...atm the Eucalyptus is at a manageable stage! But our Cercidiphyllum is growing at a rate of knots!
Anget I absolutely loved the leaves, so unusual, it was worth growing for the leaves alone...
Wildrose it is a lovely tree, and I shall be very sad to see it go....
Stera they can reach 200 ft.......so I have been told...
Kate I really wanted it to flower....it is quite spectacular......we should have put it at the very back of the garden in hindsight .........
