The RHS Great Autumn Show held at Horticultural Halls, Westminster was titled ‘Harvest Market’ as it followed their ‘Grow Your Own’ campaign and looked at all things fruit and veg with a splash of autumn colour.
As usual with RHS shows, there where display stands put up by Nurseries, associations and growers. I picked up a heap of fantastic recipes from the National Vegetable Society – 6 sheets for £1 which was definitely a bargain – with various chutneys, jams, stews and starters.
The Halls are a fantastic setting giving plenty of light and some of the harvest festival type installations were fantastic to see.
I really love these different pumpkin and squash varieties and the Wisley Garden Trials team display was great with an expert on hand to answer any questions.
This was generally an interesting show, with plenty of produce from the UK and organic growers and definitely worth a trip if you live reasonably locally. Most stands were selling plants and there was a great used book stall – my bag was much heavier on the way home than going there!
