Seed Collecting - practical

Well, the experiment has begun, I headed out (thankfully before the rain!) and went seed collecting! I gathered heads from crocosmia, evening primrose, astrantia, buddleja and cosmos.

I decided that I would make my own paper bags out of some old newspaper to hold the seeds…

placed the seed ‘head first’ into the paper bags and folded over the top. These are now stored in my garden shed for the time being but I may bring them into the house if I think it might be too damp down there.

The next step is trying to work out the best way to store them over the winter!

my seed collecting from my last garden got out of hand, now I'm going to throw a lot of it in pots and just see what comes up.
