Funny Old Winter

I have been hibernating, no, not in the deepest dark
Just wrapped up cosy in my home, not kicking up a lark
A rare case of depression, dont know why cos winter mild
Feeling sorry for myself I guess, a silly grown up child!

But spring has crept upon me, my plants are showing green
And I in turn am waking up from this lethargy so mean
My withered brain awakens to snowdrops, daffodils,
How did they just appear like that? Anticipatory chills
Running down my spine and colour gladdening my eyes
My fingers itching soil to feel and ears to hear bird cries
Tis mating time and soon Ill see those little baby chicks Hopping in my garden and getting up to tricks
The sap is rising in me like the plants I love so much
So sorry Ive not been neighbourly and being out of touch
I hope you all forgive me for deserting you dear friends
I will now try my hardest to really make amends
And bore you with my poetry and silly trite remarks
Now spring is really coming Im firing up..cant you see the sparks??

Welcome back Tet. I have only just returned too. I just seemed to lose interest a bit, plus a nasty virus to boot. Hopefully with warmer weather we shall soon be firing on all cylinders.

Look forward to more sparks!

Please don't appologise. We all need a break now and then.
Winter is for hibernating, like night is for sleeping :o) Nobody can keep going all the time. We wake up in the morning, and we wake up in the spring :o) It's a natural cycle.
Glad to see you back and feeling better !

A little note I received from Born Again..very worthy opponent!

Quote:-
I bet you could too:-)) Genius poem Tet, you're right back on form. Those polypses?? must have been draining your creative juices...

I wonder if I have some? My muse has left me too.
Perhaps an operation would sort me out, like you
But hospitals are scary and the food is made of plastic
So I'll buy a book of rhyming words, an op is far too drastic!
How very dare you Tetrarch suggest I get a pension
A womans age is secret, it's so rude of you to mention.
So what if in my handbag there's a card (always to hand)?
That gives me leave to travel free throughout our pleasant land.
And as for little catnaps, if I know you dear recouper
with wine a-dribble down your chin, you're in a drunken stupor!

Tet...Now they're in the wrong order, you've not put your missive on to which mine was a reply. Dear reader if you can imagine.....she accused me ..splutter.... of being old!! My poem was in answer to Tets cattiness. Judge for yourselves, how would you like to find this in your pms?:-)

Quote:
Your epistle has inspired me to pick up pen and rhyme
Im not like Flori , talented, cant do it all the time
But your aspertions on my memory hah! Rosie I recalled
But I couldnt name just one, not t'other - you would have been appalled!
And as to little cat naps and things that come with age
Well you should know darn well how tis, for you're there too I gauge!
Yes polyps does sound ugly, and look it too, agreed
But Im rid of them in one fell swoop so I wont go to seed!
And as for being generous who else would send you verse?
And dont sit there mouthing off at me or I'll think of something worse!!

3 Mar, 2012

Well you left out the bit where you hinted my memory was going, I was sleeping half the day the my poor polyps were ugly and you almost said right out that I was mean with my kisses! Well with friends like you......
I was actually being generous by not printing the whole and magnanimus with my praise of your verse..but well, you cant help being like it BA and one doesnt ditch ones friends cos the have gone a bit doo lally so I will forgive you dear one, you're not sooo bad really LOL!

3 Mar, 2012

And I wont mention the drinking bit..I still have a pretty full cellar...went shopping last week....

3 Mar, 2012

Thanks for the entertainment, you talented duo! Brilliant. :))

3 Mar, 2012

Good to hear you back on form. I was worried I had not seen or heard of you (my fault for not favouriting people) but here you are as chirpy as ever. Hope the garden has now sprung back in to life and keeping you very busy. We were down at my daughters and we went to Dyrham Park for a picnic. I meant to go back before we came home because I missed out on taking photos of the bank of primroses at the front of the house and the formal pots of deep blue hyacinths in the courtyard.

Just been reading the poetical exchanges between yourself and Bornagain......fascinating. Glad the op was a success and you are ready for the garden and GOY. Vive la sunshine....but 30 degrees was a bit over the top, in the shade on, our patio yesterday.

28 May, 2012

Im not a "heat" lover Dorjac, just love sunshine with a gentle breeze..we were close to 30 deg yesterday too..had to stop for drinkies every half hour! Water tho, not wine :-(
