IS IT NEARLY MID JANUARY???

Sorry Ive not been around for a while folks, but have been subject to the BRI (locally known as the Bristol Ruddy Inquisition Chamber) where they torture you unmercifully!

I have to do a little gentle exercise, so out came the camera to take some astounding pictures in the garden.

Now who said Lobelia Blue Cascade was an annual? Not true..it blooms in January!!

Im afraid they lied about Alyssum too!

Moreover…

Alstroemeria is NOT exactly just a summer plant!

And finally,

I know some of my iris are twice a year bloomers..but in JANUARY????
I dread to think what kind of summer were are going to have…

Its happening here as well but so enjoyable, I don`t care if it snows in August, I`ll cross that bridge when I come to it, lol.

I don't care either and if it snows in August.... so be it!
I have loads if Lobelia seedlings popping up everwhere, think there would be any point in potting them up?

Are you feeling better now Tet?

Blimey, I went to answer this half hour ago and got distracted (actually I dozed off in front of the puter lol!). There was only 4 of you..
Thanks Lulu!
Sticki, I was fighting my corner like a good un' till this Hattie Jacques of a matron came along. Her one, me nil lol! Another week before I get the all clear (Im banking on that mind) but in meantime, Im sore, starved to death, but fine!
Brian, thank you for the thought but I have this implant..a secret homing device....lol!
Stroller, insular never! Reclusive? mmm when Im in gardening mode...Thanks Im getting there.
Cristina, Sheilar, Amy, Rogi..crazy isnt it..but in 30 years Ive never seen an iris try to bloom in January!!
Lincslass, think we might emigrate if it snows in August!

9 Jan, 2012

Bloomer what i cant get over is all the lush green stalks I have on all my alstroes with new buds...yet my Chelone has all gone black! And poppies and crocosmia daylilies all starting growth (one never stopped and is in bud!), yet blank patches and most of the roses have dropped leaves yet still trying to flower. I just hope winter, when it does come, doesnt kill things off.
Sanbaz, Sticki, Homebird - thanks for you well wishes, feeling brighter already chatting to you lot lol! Will PM you later Sticki.
Anyone Ive missed, my thanks.

My Dad always used to gloomily say of warm unseasonal weather ... "Oh, we'll have to pay for this ......!!!!" And he was always right!

10 Jan, 2012

Now that's a conundrum..heart or head? Bampy, I really wish for a glorious summer, but my head says it could be a real bummer like Nariz says.
Well, there is only one way to go...hope for the best and prepare for the worst lol!

Good to see you back Tetrarch we've missed you, hope you feel better soon.
Still so much colour in your garden, I have the odd flower but nothing like this, lovely.
Have my first seedling emerging from the Isoplexis seed, was told they're slow to germinate and don't like bottom heat also best sown fresh so thought I'd try a few on the windowsill and hey presto after 4 weeks I can see ones green and a few more just starting to germinate :-), I'll sow the rest in spring.

10 Jan, 2012

The sun was out this morning and the birds are singing, like everyone I can,t believe its only january....I,m a bit like your Dad Nariz...if the wind changes..... still lets enjoy it while wecan.
Nice to see you Tet xxx

Get well soon x

Hi Tet well it feels like January now... -3.2 last night but at least the sun is warm.... take care dear xxx

14 Jan, 2012

Hi Gee, Scottish..hi Pamg, nice to hear from you all. Im fine but sleepy..stay in and the warmth makes me drowsy..go out for a walk and I find myself dozing gently after..oh for some nice spring air to spend all day in..too right Pam, our first real frost of winter this morning! Still a lovely day, hardly a whisper of wind..so mustnt grumble. I just need to scrub a few floors, clean the bath, polish the furniture to get my zing back but will have to wait til after next week's op! I can then look forward to spring with no interruptions lol!
Hope you are all well and not suffering from the usual winter "lurgies" that Ive seen going around. Hope you had a good Christmas and wish you all a Happy New Year.

14 Jan, 2012

Hi TT - only just found this blog. I too suffer from occasional attacks of BRI - dam' place! But your thought of spring air - *that*'ll get rid of the cobwebs!
Bests for next week

15 Jan, 2012

Hi Pete, thanks for your good wishes. Nice to meet a fellow resident from Bristol. I obviously missed out on your posts some way or another! We probably missed each other going in and out of the BRI LOL!

15 Jan, 2012

Wish my garden as tidy as yours Tet. Hope the BRI treats you kindly at your next visit, and you come out fighting fit. Unfortunately us slightly mature persons can't do without our local versions of BRI. All my potted perlargoniums are alive and well outdoors..... so far. Otherwise none of my plants are a surprise here in Essex. The summer will be gorgeous, or blame it on El nino. In 1958/9 we had a winter like this and the summer was blazing.....I came from Cheshire to London in February on a scooter. I didn't need my heavy coat, as it was so mild.

So...sneaking on here without a word.. harrumph...but as you see, I've found you ha! Good to see you're getting out and about again Tet...even if you're nodding off on the computer. I find it odd that your roses have dropped their leaves...mine all claiming to be evergreen...what a weird winter we're having. Lovely pics:-)
