The CONIFER KING :o)

During a chat with Bluespruce, we decided it would be fun if I made a blog about his garden “Foxhollow”.

…I’ve put poetry with his stunning photos….
……..I hope he enjoys it …

…………………………………………………………….

Oh, Wow ! I’m let loose,
In the land of Bluespruce….

…………………………………………………………….

A fairyland scene,
In purple and green.

…………………………………………………………….

So pretty to see …
White shoots on the tree.

……………………………………………………………..

And this witches’ broom,
Is pictured … with whom ?

……………………………………………………………..

While here we unveil,
The boatbed – full sail….

……………………………………………………………..

And Foxhollow owns
Remarkable cones.

……………………………………………………………..

Re-planted quite small…
Those won’t grow too tall.

……………………………………………………………..

Soft colours and shapes,
In lovely landscapes.

……………………………………………………………..

These grasses aren’t drab -
They look really fab !

……………………………………………………………..

A stunner, I think.
So pretty in pink.

……………………………………………………………..

The conifers glow,
In sun and in snow.

……………………………………………………………..

A magical place,
With glamour and grace.

……………………………………………………………..

The Conifer King,
His praises we sing. Lol.

3 Feb, 2010

wellies required... Lol.

3 Feb, 2010

Sorry Tt, you can't do any serious gardening wearing a pair of wellies...:0)))

3 Feb, 2010

That's reassuring... because I do most of my gardening in flip-flop slippers..Lol.

3 Feb, 2010

Need I say more...:0)

3 Feb, 2010

Lol.. :o)

3 Feb, 2010

Tt, the boots I'm wearing in pic No.6, are special boots made for broom hunting...as soon as I put them on I get a real feeling of where I might be able to find some new brooms out in the woods and forests.....wellies not much use for climbing trees....;o)

3 Feb, 2010

In that case I'll put the pic on GoYpedia Wellies and Garden Footwear.Lol.

3 Feb, 2010

I have just realised you only live up the road from me, maybe one day I'll come for a visit. I hadn't got a glue about conifers and seeing that fantastic variety of colour, shapes and layout of the plants and trees is just simply stunning. Inherited a few conifers when moving into this house, less then 2 years ago, I am all the more fasinated by your knowledge and especially your website. Thank you you are an eye opener and it's a pleasure just to gaze at all the pictures

Beautiful pics from Foxhollows bed, lend poetical words to Terratoons head.

5 Feb, 2010

Thanks for this great blog - just what we need to cheer us up at the moment when most gardens are so lacking in colour.

This is definitely on my list of gardens to visit when I retire!

5 Feb, 2010

Rachelsmum - depends how long it is till you retire...I might have moved on by then, and the garden could be history :o)

6 Feb, 2010

Glad you enjoyed this blog, Rachelsmum...
Stephen... Foxhollow should be preserved for the benefit of the nation. ;o)

6 Feb, 2010

Fat chance of that ever happening Tt.

6 Feb, 2010

:o)

6 Feb, 2010

It's taken me ages to get here Terra and everyone has written what I would like to say, what is it about your blogs? Maybe it's all the hard work you put in to them:-)))

6 Feb, 2010

What an amazing blog - I am humbled; must work harder in mine, you have spurred me on. Maybe I will dig up the moss infested lawn and plant more conifers.

6 Feb, 2010

Blogs - they always get the better of me!! I truly admire TT for all the hard work, loving effort and time she puts into her creations - It takes me a month of Sundays just to chose which photo and THEN put it where I want it to go!!!

7 Feb, 2010

Thanks, Bornagain, Gardenmad1 and Terry60 ~
Writing a blog is hard work, but I enjoy it.... easier when inspired by such a pretty garden as Foxhollow... those photos have certainly made me more aware of the beauty of conifers, grasses and heathers...!

7 Feb, 2010

I must admit Foxhollow has made think more kindly of conifers and heathers:-)

7 Feb, 2010

Thought I didn't remember 'liking' this blog and went to rectify matters...... couldn't find it!!!! It's been moved....or have I lost my marbles????? :-)

7 Feb, 2010

Hello Bornagain...
If you click top right "Gardening Blogs"..... this blog heading should currently be under headings of This Week and This Month and All Time... does that help ?

...no I don't think you've lost your marbles, but we really could do with some warmer weather before all sorts of bits freeze..lol.

7 Feb, 2010

I mean I couldn't find 'I like this blog' lol :-) it's at the bottom and I'm sure it used to be on the top right????

7 Feb, 2010

Oh, I see...Lol.
"I like this blog" should be top right and also on the left, below the blog photos, just above where the comments begin....

...does that help ? lol.

7 Feb, 2010

Have a look Terra, someone has run off with your top right 'I like this blog' It just isn't there.......who could it be? ...who would play such a dastardly trick?

7 Feb, 2010

Hi again Bornagain...:o)...
I think, once you've put a "like" on a blog, the words change to "You like this blog"....
..Is that what you mean...?.....if not, I blame those devious Flower Pot People....... :o(

7 Feb, 2010

Super Blog by GOY's Poet Laureate

7 Feb, 2010

Wow...what a compliment....
...thanks so much Poaannua...
Foxhollow is fab, isn't it :o)

7 Feb, 2010

Terra, it must be them 'cos your 'I like this blog' is only at the bottom of your blog where I did find it .......ah.....unless they have just run off with the one on my computer lol ????

7 Feb, 2010

Hi Bornagain...
It seems your computer has been sabotaged by the FPP ... Lol.

8 Feb, 2010

Ooooooh Nooooooo:-(

8 Feb, 2010

Wonderful blog, garden , poets and comedians, what more can one ask . Thanks all for the entertainment ! ;o))

8 Feb, 2010

Bluespruce - I will retire in August 2010! Yipee.......!

I only work part time these days but its still work! :(

8 Feb, 2010

Still plenty of time then ..;o)

8 Feb, 2010

Greta blog again, TT. The photos you have chosen are very, very good! I loved almost all of them.

Your skills as a poetess have been put to good use!

Bluespruce, your garden is really marvellous, I love it & only wish I could see it with my own two eyes & spend a few hours wandering around it! Congratulations of making up such a fabulous garden! :-)

9 Feb, 2010

Thanks Balcony....
...and I like your latest avatar pic :o)
Fabulous garden, isn't it !

9 Feb, 2010

I'd forgotten I'd changed my pic! I hadn't noticed even though I've already made a dozen posts!!! My wife took that one of me some years ago - the flag was for the last world cup!

9 Feb, 2010

Lol...
You are smiling nicely...
...and your wife is a good photographer ! :o)

9 Feb, 2010

Balcony - nothing stopping you driving down to sunny Dorset and paying us a visit sometime in the near future...is there..?

9 Feb, 2010

what a lovley garden i love peoples diversity . im not realy a conifer spruce lover but credit wear its due this is a real great balance of colour and shapes quite stunning .

9 Feb, 2010

BS There is something very important stopping me driving down to Dorset - well, two really, one, I have no car & two, I've never learnt to drive!!!

11 Feb, 2010

ever since I saw this blog last week I have been suffering from a severe case of garden envy. How many hours do you spend on the garden - I bet you will say a couple of hours a week!!!!

13 Feb, 2010

Maybe some of us could hire a GoY coach and visit Foxhollow....Lol.

Bluespruce could answer all our questions.... such as how long it takes to keep his garden looking so beautiful :o)

14 Feb, 2010

Gardenmad - depends on the time of year really...in the growing season, I'm out there nearly all my spare time, evenings and weekends. Just keeping the garden maintained takes up most of my spare time, that's why I look forward to the winter a bit more than most, because everything slows right down which gives me more time to devote to all the garden projects I constantly seem to have on the go.....a couple of hours a week ?...not a chance!!! :0)

14 Feb, 2010

Actually that would be a good idea TT, I'm sure there will be quite a few members who live within a couple of hours drive of BS would love to go.

14 Feb, 2010

Maybe we should hire a red double decker London bus...Lol.

14 Feb, 2010

And have Cliff as bus driver!!

14 Feb, 2010

Yay... Summer Holiday ....
.... with some warm, sunny weather.... pleeease :o)

14 Feb, 2010

Great fun.....make sure you pick up at North Lincs....I shall be waiting...:o))))

14 Feb, 2010

well- if the bus is doing a tour it could pick up me and Alz!

14 Feb, 2010

Of course Skillen....Hey Cliff, Glasgow it is.....just make sure you go there first...Lol!!

14 Feb, 2010

And while you're making a detour round the Alps, don't forget me !!

14 Feb, 2010

We're all going on a GoY holiday.
No more working for a week or two.
Fun and Conifers on a GoY holiday.
No more worries for me and you.
For a week or two.

We're going where the sun shines brightly.
We're going to Rome to collect you...
We've read about Foxhollow in the poems...
Now let's see if it's true...

all together now...

14 Feb, 2010

Wait for meeeeee :-)

14 Feb, 2010

Thoroughly enjoyable blog.......11 out of 10, nothing more to add, everyone else has said it for me.

15 Feb, 2010

Thank you Dotty... xxx

15 Feb, 2010

outstanding TT, now weers my microphome?

15 Feb, 2010

Hello Derek...
Yes, you drive the bus, and we'll sing :o) Lol.

15 Feb, 2010

You can definately book me a seat TT, I'm not usually a huge fan of conifers etc, but this is a "Work of Art"! Tell the driver that he'll find me in the Jungle at Jen's Gardyn, it's easy find me just be careful of the lions. ;o) lol

16 Feb, 2010

Hi Jen...
The London Bus can visit you at Junglejen's en route...
...an extra stop on our garden tour...
... we'll look out for tigers and chimpanzees...;o) Lol.

16 Feb, 2010

Great idea TT, a tropical detour!
I'll get maps of the garden ready for you all, we lost a couple of NGS guests last year, somewhere down in the Fern Gully I think, I expect they'll turn up sooner or later. ;o)
Now where shall we park the bus?

16 Feb, 2010

London Bus... park near a little patch of London Pride ? ;o)

16 Feb, 2010

Very gooooood!!!
Funny you should say that though...I was at the local garden waste recycling site the other day and someone had chucked a load of that down by the side.
It looked fresh and was rooted so I've recycled it to our front garden! I'll put the red-bus stop sign right in the middle x

16 Feb, 2010

London Pride has been handed down to us.
London Pride is a flower that's free.
London Pride means our own dear town to us,
And our pride it for ever will be. xxx

16 Feb, 2010

Noel Coward wasn't it? You've got me singing in my head now...
We're going where the sun shines brightly,
We're going where the Spruce is blue.... arrrgh!

16 Feb, 2010

Great blog Terra :o))))
