Beautiful plant once established no matter how big it gets it will die back and disappear each year.Grows like swags of little bright red flowers then blue berries never had much luck with it think it was too warm and dry.thrives in cool moist areas.Ps re your eleganus I have a photo of one more severely affected is it possible to send to you or do I need to put on my own photos?

Hello Spritzhenry,
I have seen similar in E. ebbingii and believe in that case a viral infection was diagnosed. Elaeagnus do respond well to being pruned hard back to healthy wood and I would suggest if no other offers are made you should seek to prune out all the infected wood back to a healthy dormant bud zone about 3 to 4 inches into the healthy wood. Only make cuts on healthy wood to avoid any potential cross contamination and burn the removed branches. Hope this works for you.

Hi Spritxhenry, thanks for naming my mistory plant. Looking through your photos I noticed astr novi-belgii "Blue Lagoon", I THINK I have this plant but it grows very tall about l2" to l8". Let me know what you think. Flowers in autumn.
