Here Come The Hummers......

Now that the Monarda is in full bloom the hummingbirds have arrived to get the nectar needed to keep those wing muscles going at the needed speed. Insects fill in the rest of their diet. The Monarda are in the right side of the garden on the left side my Cardinal Flowers are growing well and will be in bloom in a month at the time the Monarda has spent itself out providing the hummers with needed nectar until its time to head south. Using this successional method I have never had to use a hummingbird feeder to attract them.
My Nasturtium is now going at full speed and the pollinators are loving it. This low maintenance plant will continue to flower until the first killing frost. My hollyhock which was planted by nature is about nine feet tall and seems to be very happy in its location. Here are a few photos as things stand now in the garden

In a few of the photos you will see a garden hose. The weather pattern has been long hot dry spells with intermittent drenching downpours which do nothing to keep the garden and containers at a good moist level on a daily basis.

Wow!!! Lots of colour in your garden, Loosestrife! Hot and zingy..very welcoming too.
Your garden looks so magical and filled with so much variety and it’s jam packed with every plant imaginable! Your pond and water features are lovely too - lot of thought has gone into the designs. Bet it’s just wonderful seeing those hummingbirds visit your Monarda!
