THE NIGHT HAS A THOUSAND EYES

We have had a bit of warm weather for a while on the east coast of the USA. Today as of 14:00 hours the present temperature had reached 71F. I went out last night at about 23:00 hours and had the feeling that I was being watched. Directing my headlamp to the ponds near me I saw what you now see in the following photos…again remember it is DEC 13 and I am a little over an hour and a half’s drive south of New York City…

They say " A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush" Now what is a frog in the hand worth?

Note the heavy amount of filamentous algae AT THE TOP
of one of my ponds attesting to the length of the warm weather we are having. This pond temp is at 50 F. The fish are inactive still bit I expect that too change soon. Today the frogs are about and they are feeding on mealworms that I offer them, so their metabolism is starting to go into a higher gear.
My neighbor came over to me today like it was the end of the world…it told her to cool it(LOL) since we more likely share the same fate of being run over by a inattentive texting driver while we cross the street than to suffer doom from climate change.

Very strange. I guess at the moment it should be quite cold where you are? What is going on in the World?

Wow what a sight, were they singing as well, I am amazed at the amount of spring flowers showing here, no signs of my frogs though and the fish are no longer showing themselves in the pond so guess they are all tucked away safely ..Not going to worry about it L'strife, its a fact I cannot alter it even though I do try and do my bit in my own way for the sake of my grandchildren..

Let's be positive ( well let's try)
The Paris Agreement has been signed by all ; it may be too little too late , but hey ....
Loosestrife , its a full moon on Christmas night , so you will be able to go out into the garden to view all the "happenings" without the headlight on .
The frogs look plentiful and healthy .
I saw that someone here in Devon had seen frogspawn .

Last night I saw quite a few lacewings flying about. All of these will die in a freeze which makes me wonder about the inappropriate jump start effect this warm cycle will have on populations of destructive and useful insects in the coming year as well as the adverse effect of sap flow in trees this time of year. Yes this is something to ponder by the fireside during these cold winter nights :)...if it ever comes to that.

I've got it on a CD, and I press 'repeat' when it comes to 'The Night Has A Thousand Eyes' ... and I listen to it many times :D
