Hello From Dawn

Hello :-)
I’ve not been around for a while but here I am now :-)
I’ve been busy in the garden all year as per usual but this week we’ve had terrible weather, well rain resulting in a lot of local roads being closed so no gardening for me this week. This is usually my babbling brook! All back to normal now, thankfully.

My neighbours willow tree decided to uproot and hover precariously over our garden in late summer resulting in it being felled, always sad to see a tree go but it did cast a lot of shade, so happy it’s gone as it was huge.

The worst news of all has been the loss of my dog Bonnie. We had to have her put to sleep in September, she was 15 years old, 1 month and 1 day, what a devastating time it has been. She had been struggling for a long time and I did my best for her. I know a lot of you have been there, heart breaking to say the least.

Some good news, we have hedgehogs visiting for the first time in years :-). Really happy about that and we have set up a feeding station for them.

I’ve been trying to get out on my bike but the weather these last few weeks has been awful, here I am :-)

I end with a few photos of the garden and I look forward to chatting with you, my gardening family x

Hi Dawn, I was wondering where you were. Lovely views of your garden. I'm glad there hasn't been much damage after the heavy rains.
Nice that you have hedgehogs visiting :)

I am sorry to hear about Bonnie. She was with you for many years. You have all my sympathy. It's a heart breaking experience.

You look as if you're enjoying your bike riding, you are keeping fit and healthy. I could never balance on a bike, always ended up toppling over lol

Hello Hywel, I hope you’re keeping well. Thanks for your kind words. It’s probably best for you stay off a bike haha

Yes I'm fine Dawn thanks :) It would be no good anyone saying "on your bike" to me :D

Photos of your garden are always a joy. Perhaps you can grow watercress now, lol. Hope the stream soon recovers its proper size without having done too much damage. My goodness you do look young and fit! Must be all that gardening you do...

So sorry to hear about the loss of Bonnie. You've made a very brave decision, but the right decision though a difficult one. Yes, I've been there more times than I care to remember. I've rescued a little kitten from the shelter and that helped big time! Glad you're back on your bike and in 'gear'. Nice to see you back.

Hi Stera, thank you.The brook does this every 5 years or so, it soon returns to normal.
Hello Bathgate, yes it's tough losing a pet, I probably kept her longer than I should have but in the end it was time.

What a lovely garden you have, like the way you have dotted the trees through it, so much of interest going on, and that babbling brook, must be so therapeutic sat by the waters edge on a summers evening, sorry to hear of your dog bonnie, and to have a hedgehog in the garden is wonderful.

Oh Dawn I'm so sorry to hear the sad news about Bonnie it's always a heart breaking time when you lose a family pet , I thought about you often during these horrendous floods knowing you have streams and lakes ,hopefully you haven't had to much damage in the garden, its nice that you have hedgehogs back , we haven't seen any since our move , you are looking disgustingly healthy and so young , I thought it was Charlotte , :o)) I must get a bicycle Haha ..

Its always heartbreaking to lose a beloved pet but Bonnie lived a full and happy life with you Dawn, was able to enjoy and share your wonderful garden, I remember teasing you many years ago about the fact you could take her for a walk without leaving home....Lovely photograph of you on your bike, think you need a kayak /boat at the moment though, lol....

What a lovely blog Dawn! The first photo just sums up this Autumn perfectly. Water gushing, mud and soggy leaves! Thankfully today has been good here and I've been outdoors and even planted a few tulips in the ground. Your garden is absolutely beautiful all year around. You must be so proud. And what a lovely photo of you too! I used to love cycling, and when a student, i would cycle all around London. I even took on Hyde Park Corner (but got a puncture and was late for work!). But in Scotland you really need a bike with an engine for the uphill stretches. I gave away my pushbike earlier this year (swapped it actually for a session with my PT!) and now my cycling is restricted to the exercise bike. But it does me just a much good and isn't weather dependent! Love the final photo of the woodland area from the border. Gorgeous. :)

Thank you Julien for your kind words.
Hello Amy, one minute Bonnie was an eight week old pup and the next a very old lady, it's been tough. I hope you and Tony are well and your garden developing nicely. We've not had any real trouble with the flooding.
Hi Sue, how are you doing? I hope your new dogs are settling in.
Hi Karen, I remember you cycling, didn't you take Mollie with you in the basket? Thank you, the garden is looking very wet and soggy at the moment, it's nice to be back on GOY, with my friends.

Yeah....I had to stop the FB groups. They are just too time consuming but also quite shallow and sometimes really annoying! ;)

Yes Karen, 99% are fair weather friends.

Lovely blog, Dawn. Nice to see you back, looks like you’ve had a lot to tend to over the past months. Sorry to hear of Bonnie’s passing, it’s always a very sad time, as the others have said.
Your pics are fab! Your garden looks really beautiful as always! You have some really pretty colour well into November, lots still blooming nicely too.
You look. Very well and happy in you pic! It’s very therapeutic getting out and cycling. I enjoy it when I can,
Keep up the good work! ;0)

If I had cycled a lot maybe I too could look like you! However, I don't think so!!!

Your garden looks so green and luscious in every photo and you obviously work very hard out there.

I am sorry you had the deep sadness of losing Bonnie, a very hard time for you.

It was good to see you back on GoY.

Lovely to catch up Dawn, as usual your garden is fabulous, so beautiful and large enough to get lost in...I used to say I'd come and camp for my holiday...:))

I'm so sorry about Bonnie, such a heartbreaking time. She would've had a wonderful life with you and that fabulous garden to enjoy. The four of you with very dark hair, you and Bonnie and Roxy and Ronnie...and there you are looking so young and fit...X

Sorry to hear about Bonnie what a loss she must be to you.
The rain has been terrible in so many parts of England.
We have the reverse here in Scotland.....very little rain but very cold nights.
Your garden is looking wonderful as usual.

Thanks for your sympathies Linda, yes it's been a horrible time.
It's been cold this week but the ground is so wet.

Just catching up with your blogs etc.......first of all let me say how sorry I was to read about your lovely Bonnie, isn't it difficult trying to come to terms with losing our furry babies, we lost Colin our daughters Daxie a few months ago, so I know how you feel......(。•́︿•̀。) sending you a big hug.....(灬º‿º灬)♡
The garden as usual looks fantastic, you have obviously been very busy.......
Love your bicycle photo, you look about 20!!!!! perhaps I need to get a bike.....(. ❛ ᴗ ❛.) though I think I am too long in the tooth now!!
Great to see you back on here, I dip in and out on FB but it gets on my nerves every now and then!! welcome back Dawn...xxx

Thanks Dotty, yes its been a terrible time and I'm sorry to hear about Colin. I wish I felt in my 20's haha, I've not been out on it lately, it seems to rain most days :-( Frustrating not being able to garden too!
