So sorry to be missing for so long, but have been very poorly with my legs and banned by the Doc from spending too much time on the computer.

I am only allowed half hour morning and night even now but I’ve started to sneak in the odd half hour in middle of the night lol! Sooo…taking advantage, I have returned hoping all the good friends I made still remember me.

It hasn’t been the best of times as I have lost some friends and family also this year, but the sun has arrived at last and gardening is allowed as a “must do” activity along with more interesting walks than the local parks, so was able to visit Shugborough and Little Moreton Hall. I do have to make overnight stays for longer trips due to driving restrictions but thats okay as it is now more tiring. But ohh..the gardening is a life-saver and I’ve missed all your doings so much.

I have a lot of your blogs and news to catch up on so I had better get started…

Welcome back Tetra, I've also missed you and wondered if you were ok, I'm really sorry to hear of your health problems, also sad to hear of your losses, the good bit is that you are on the mend BUT!!!! that I guess means listening to the doc and not sneaking on in the middle of the night, don't blame you really and if you are bored and raring to go thats gotta be a good sign.....lol.

Thank you all dear gardeners for your kind words..that has lifted my spirits no end. Its nice to know Ive been missed enough to make BA jealous...now BA..IS there another garden site??? I only go for the best you know (chuckle).
Thank you for thinking of me Hywel..must have picked up your thought-wave!!
Scotsgran I hope the weather is being kind to you also. Cinders, Im grinning from ear to ear with the prospect of a mud-wrestle with BA, I see she is as incorrigible as ever.
Bloomer, Seaburn, Sheilabub, Annella, Gee, Im looking forward to several leisurely overnight trips over the next couple of months. Will be reading all your blogs but I guess they will last me all year lol!
Kathy, I hope your daylilies are doing as my iris have done this year. Quite a few pics in the pipeline. Some of your daylilies (now happily settled here) will be flowering soon. Looking forward to seeing them.
I will post a couple more pics then my half hour is up for today grrrr..

Nearly missed you Lincslass, the mind is definitely willing...pity about the rest lol! and well, he did say half hour morning and evening..never said anything about after midnight!!! Still there are many worse off. Just frustrating not being able to do all I want. I guess we all hate getting older. Wiser is all well and good but it doesnt prune the roses ha ha!

Hi Pamg, nice to see you. Was that a holiday or just a "must do the gardening break"? Hope it wasn't cos you poorly

I went to Jersey with a friend, it was lovely, just the right temp for sitting or walking around, they have had it as bad as us though
Some of the plants were flowering but not 'filled out' if you know whst I mean, the roses were the best, saw a hedge beautifully pruned completly covered in roses.....stunning.....

30 Jun, 2013

Glad you had a nice time Pam, havent been to Jersey for donkey's 'ears!
Do you know they say you can happily use your hedge trimmer on a rose hedge? Now that's what I call a time saving device that's health and safety too lol!

Hello Tet... It's so nice to see you back in print! Missed you! No computer? you poor thing! We had a long depressing winter here..and a very slow to start spring...not really complaining about the spring tho..it was cool enough that I could work at the drudgery without sweating myself into a wafer! Still mining stones and sifting gravel! BUT...this spring it looks like a garden instead of an open-pit mine! Been planting roses and iris...bought some for the stream and lost them in a flood. ( I.pseudacorus) and the roses are being devoured by a plague of rose chafers! ...other than that...life's a peach. Have enjoyed your blogs...wish I could visit some of those lovely castle gardens...sigh. Have fun but take care!

I blench when I think of the mammoth task you have Lori but your determination shines thru despite floods and plagues..that has a familiar ring?
I really look forward to the day (and I'm sure, so do you) when you have to think, "where can I plant these new plants" that you weren't able to resist but don't have the right space for and your greenhouse is full to bursting and you have time to sit on the porch and gaze at your achievement..
There are very few "stately" gardens I would swap for mine now, but Powis has to be tempting..especially those overflowing pots!

30 Jun, 2013

Kinda biblical..when you put it that way! lol...xo..oh yes, Powis Castle was lovely...and all those levels..how did you manage? That's the one with the almost 90 degree gardens? like a wall garden. Those vertical gardens are getting really popular over here...there was one in the atrium of the library where we used to live. Was walking in the door one day when I heard a HISSSSSS....thought to myself...Ohhhh nooooo....not the snake in the garden of eden! turned out it was the plumbing that was gurgling ...good for a red face. X-0 It was like the produce isle at the supermarket...all rigged to mist itself when the humidity fell below a certain sensor range!
