Hi Guys,
Out in the garden much of the day, lots to get ready for summer, painting bird station today along with sundial and turkish lantern which also need a revamp.
The fish are doing well and i also have frogspawn in my pond which is great as i only changed the pond last year and my old one didnt get any.
Baz helped me dig out bog grass which we seem to have alot of with last years very wet summer and also lots of tangly grass around my acer tree and flamingo tree, so tidy again now.
Still alot to do, cleaning of the decking and my tables and chairs to be cleaned off and repainted, but not all today.
Took a few pics if i can upload them , i have done this blog once and deleted it as pics would upload, so here goes

So all happy days in my garden apart from naughty capser who i told off for bringing me a poor little bird today, sadly it died in my hand not long after i found it, very upsetting nature can be, im sure its not the last thing he will bring this year.
So on that sad note hope you all managed a nice day with sunshine and catching up with jobs about your gardens.

Brilliant pictures Sandra, Im so envious of your Frog Spawn, I had frogs last year but not seen them this year to date, I leave my plants in and lots of rocks so they get in and out, but wondring if my pond is too small it froze soid during the cold winter! anyway I will enjoy watching the progress of yours;0)

thanx carole, it maybe your right about the pond freezing, when i had my other pond the frogs didnt survive the icy snowy winters we had for them two years but alot milder this winter in comparison, maybe next year carole :o)

Naughty Caspar! I had a day like that yesterday San, but today I didn't manage to get out as it was cold. Still, it is spring...isn't it?! Lol. Your hard work has paid off...everything looks great, and the groggy too! Wonderful. hope I get one next year. Great to hear that your energy levels and enthusiasm are returning! :)

thanx karen sorry it was cold for you today, at least you managed yesterday, think we may have poor weather tomorrow.
I thought i wouldnt get that feeling back karen, wanting to get out there, but it was so nice and i didnt go overboard as i end up in pain with doing to much,, think we all do that when we get going after winter.
i hope you get a froggy next year, but there is time yet to get tenents even if you dont get frogspawn, dont give up hope :o))

What a lovely day we have had too today, for a change. We had to get out into the garden didnt we San, first opportunity this year! (well it is for me!) You have done some nice tidying up there everything is looking good. :)

That sounds really good for both of you ladies then! The frogs at the golf courses are rife just now, and it is only a mile from here, so one or two might find my pond this year. There is a stream at the back of our estate, which comes down from trout farm just a couple of fields away, but perhaps the trout eat all the frogspawn up there and they don't go wandering....who knows.

Gosh, what a difference a spot of sunshine makes!
Yes, garden furniture to clean here today too, lawn to mow and pond plants to divide before they swamp it. I think the barbecue will have its first airing this year too. Plug pelargoniums to pot up, greenhouse to overhawl and much digging and sowing in the veg patch. My poor old back will be wingeing tonight, lol.

Glad you had a nice day to Grandmage, its back to rain here today but did need some here :o)

karen i bet your right about the trout, mind you even if we get lots of frogspawn not many make adulthood, good job really as we would be overun with frogs, im sure you will get some one day karen :o)

Xela sounds like you have been busy to, i cant do the heavy digging anymore, have to get Baz to do that, envy you having a greenhouse though, wish i had room, love pelargoniums, hope your backs ok today :o)

Isn't it funny how we get that urge to spring clean and what a difference it makes too. It's all looking lovely again Sandra after your hard work. I've got frogspawn too ... and I don't mean to show off .... but I've got two newts as well yay \0/. Sadly no longer got fish though, but I'm happy with my wild life:-)

21 Apr, 2013

Newts!? Now I am really going green!! ;)

21 Apr, 2013

Yes Karen, I haven't had any for years and the one I did have packed his bags and moved next door. There is no pond there now so I have no idea where they came from. I also have waterboatmen:-))

21 Apr, 2013

:))

22 Apr, 2013

BA i envy you having the Newts, havent seen any round here but im sure there must be some, and water boatmen now you are showing off lol :o)))

Poor Karen :( x

22 Apr, 2013

Lol! Don't worry, I'm still smiling San!

22 Apr, 2013

thats Good Karen :o))

22 Apr, 2013

Sandra, if I mentioned a pair of swans would that be pushing it? ;-))

23 Apr, 2013

Yes it would BA haha, lucky you, sending a wooden spoon any more of it lol :o))

23 Apr, 2013

Lol Sandra, can't find my newts today either ...serve me right for bragging:-)

23 Apr, 2013

aww bet they arent far, probably laughing at you from under a stone or something to teach you haha :o))

24 Apr, 2013

Maybe the swans ate them:-)))

24 Apr, 2013

San, just to say that the frogspawn in our small pond has separated from one huge piece into three ... it's full of tiny bubbles and the little black dots are changing shape ... can you tell I'm checking it out each and every day ... lol!

24 Apr, 2013

LOL BA, maybe haha :o))

LOL Shirley, as bad as me i go out each day to making sure its still there and watching for any changes, wonder why yours has seperated into 3 now :o)

25 Apr, 2013

Amazingly, I've had tadpoles for a few days now, and I've spotted one of my newts:-) Next door to me are clearing their garden and have chopped down very large shrubs, now I'm worried in case some nests have been damaged and wondering where my little garden birds will sit:-(

25 Apr, 2013

San, possibly because the Tadpoles are escaping quickly now! I saw lots of them lined up at the edge of the pond where the sun was shining, and the 3 lots of Frogspawn are wiggling to and fro! ... :o)

25 Apr, 2013

Why do people cut large shrubs or trees down when its nesting time, its beyond me BA, they should do it earlier or later grrr, glad your newts are back :o)))

Shirley mine doesnt look much different though a bit more spread out, the black bits(tadpoles) dont look any bigger, shall keep checking, let me know if yours make it shirley :o)))

27 Apr, 2013

I have to agree about the trees/hedges/shrubs...Sandra.I keep getting people contacting me about overgrown shrubs, hedges and, in particular , Conifers and hey think I', awkward when I tell them that I do big trims before mid march or from end August! Some people just don't see things from the same perspective !!

27 Apr, 2013

Okey-dokey, San ... much colder this morning with a slight frost but warmed up later ... poor things won't know what to do! :o)

27 Apr, 2013

Glad you agree paul, hope they agree once you explain to them,Mind you some wouldnt give a damn anyway :o(( the farmers in our village always make sure to do all the hedgrows at the times you stated paul :o)

shirley i cant wait to go to Benidorm next sat, lazy no cooking and cleaning and total chill out holiday lol :o)) should be getting better here to surely :o)

27 Apr, 2013

Some people just don't get it Sandra! Most of us have become more aware of the needs of wildlife over recent years but not everyone, unfortunately!
A lady contacted me through Facebook last week(someone had recommended me on the Stanford le hope(that's our town) Facebook page. She asked me to come and give her a price for trimming two overgrown ferns?i replied that fens don't usually need much trimming, had she got te right plant name.I had to laugh when I went o. ace book after coming home from football tonight! I had a message...her neighbour informs her that they are conifers not ferns!!!

27 Apr, 2013

lol about the name mix up paul, so funny, but your right on wildlife issues, iv seen quite a few road kill, pheasants(2) chicken(1), quite a few rabbits already in our village lanes, normally outsiders who drive like its a race track and short cut to motorway, so upsetting.
