Helleborus is this a disease?

I see my Helleborus are a little slower coming out than some of yours, and notice the leaves are looking very unhealthy, I thought it was due to the wet weather we are having, but seeing my neighbours looking quite different I wondered if mine are suffering from a disease. All the leaves are looking like the one in my photograph. I have removed a lot of them but left some as I thought it would reduce the food to the plants as there are a lot of buds.

Fairly normal leaf condition for this time of year. We remove all old leaves from H. x orientalis around now. On the other types you should only remove ones which look like that in the ratio of one new leaf for each old leaf removed.

I would remove all leaves like that. The plants are not taking up much food at the moment and will soon replace these old leaves.

Great as soon as it stops raining and blowing and squelshing across the lawn it will be done. Many thanks.

I have been doing ours for the last 2 weeks or so, only done about 1/3 of them and that is perhaps 10 barrows full of leaves.

How do I say thanks?
