This was a while ago, the rare moment when you can see the mountain from town. This is it in the distance over Fairbanks.

I wish I had my digital that day. Nice colors but the zoom fizzes the pic out. This Mount is 21,000ft and about 200 miles away.

twenty-one THOUSAND feet. that sure is no hill.... out there all by itself is it volcanic, like Mt. Baker and Mt. St. Helens?

It probably was Lori. The fault the Alaska range is on is sliding so there isn't as much deep activity. This is the highest mountain in North America I believe. It's just so much bigger than the rest that you don't see them at this distance. So this is just the top showing! I'll have to load up a photo from inside the park. Its astounding in size.
