Yes it is a Red Squirrel, such a cute little guy and he provides endless entertainment as he takes great pleasure in teasing the cat from a safe distance. Have updated his proper name and species. Glad everyone enjoyed the pic!

This one is out on an adventure, whilst his siblings and momma behave themselves in the woodpile. What a good shot this is! Lovely creature. Do they do damage to gardens? Or are they harmless?

They dont damage the garden at all...they do make some mess when they start collecting pine cones. Last fall I enjoyed watching them as they plucked pine cones from my Spruce Tree and threw them down on the ground.. one guy hung upside down to get some particularly juicy big cones.. had to laugh as he looked so crazy! They finish throwing them on the ground and then spend the rest of the time gathering and stocking up the pantry!
But beware ** if they manage to get in the house they would rip up everything in sight !
