END OF SEPTEMBER GARDEN.

I decided to record what is still flowering in my garden, but at 7pm the light wasnt so great. Still they came out interestingly well..most of them.

My new alstroemeria “Ginger” is a real beauty..followed by Penstemon “Laura” who took a year’s sabbatical last season. She looks good with my new Calmagrotis.

“Goldsturm”..everyone’s favourite but not a large clump for 3 years..and Rose “Lady Hillingdon” has produced a whole rash of new buds.

Kniphofia “Nancy’s Red”, new this year, rewarding me well, and Erysimum “Winter Joy” (I think) and Coreopsis “Baby Gold” again both new this year.

My lovely Pennisetum Rubra has been a joy (must remember to lift and protect it) and Nerine Bowdenii, tho neglected, still is kind to me

All my Alstroes, including “Golden Delight” are still flowering their socks off, as is Fuchsia "Delta’s Sarah, for the 4th year, a second show of Phlox “Laura” and Astrantia “Shaggy”

Our Rose “Chandos Beauty” was the colour of the clouds in the evening sky, Clematis “Josephine” has more flowers and we have five primroses (a pressy from a kind Goyer) already.

And finally, my Repeating Iris Germanica “Rosalie Figge” has presented me with two second stalks of buds..I just hope we dont get an early frost and spoil the flowers when they bloom!

Its been a long, long time, from April til September..as the song (sort of) goes..and I have loved every minute!
Hope you enjoyed a few too.

Lovely photo`s Tetra, its a real cheery sight even as the sun is going down. I like the Alstromeria`s`especially the new one and love the shade of that Fuschia, we might have been a bit lacking in June as regards the flowers, due to those weeks without rain but more than making up now....

Thanks everyone. Ive been enjoying all your plants and gardens too, although Ive been dipping in and out (busy week).
These last few weeks of precious sunshine are not to be sneezed at (tho guess its pretty grotty up north Karen, I do hope you get some good sunshine to end the season).
I sit on my "terrace dahling" pretending its somewhere in the Med..well, on the good days, and in and out depending on showers.

Lots of lovely plants there Tet. Is Delta Sarah a hardy fuchsia? I think it is one of the loveliest ones.

Ginellie, it has been in my garden for four years. Planted another out front. Sheltered spot. Mulch for first year. Should be okay. Especially down your way.

Hopefully Grandmage, and I do hope we dont have a 4/5 month winter like 2010/11.

Terrific photos Tet - thanks. And I felt I could inhale the fragrance of Lady Hillingdon - she's gorgeous!

23 Sep, 2011

She's a real Lady...always flowers prolifically, trys hard not to get blackspot..doesnt moan when I forget to water and feed her, and doesnt mind my sometimes ragged hair cuts!

Tet some wonderful photos there, so much going on, isn't it wonderful, another month of this weather would suit me just fine, have all the plants potted (well OH has lol) they look good, thanks again.

Thanks DD. And it looks set fair next week too. Hope so, its our 30th WA in early Oct so we are going to have a nice day out somewhere.
Glad the plants recovered, I do so hate lobbing out offcuts that can grow into nice healthy specimens..its criminal when so many people cant afford to buy plants for their gardens. Im sometimes tempted to knock on a few doors where gardens are a mess and offer to stick a bit in the ground..I often wonder if that will get them to take an interest. Praps I should try it lol!

Just gorgeous Tet! My garden is sorely in need of a good prune, as it has been a bit neglected recently, as we have been busy decorating at home... Lovely blog my friend...so nice to see your garden again..\0/x

Have you been enjoying your pretty arbour Flori?

24 Sep, 2011

You have reminded me to bring a Wild Primrose home from the allotment and put it in a pot, in the shade.
thank you for that. So much to think about with a container garden. I am so happy now, havent had a proper flower garden for 26 years, but seeing the many photographs of Containers on the Blogs has inspired me to collect them and I feel much better, learning more about plants every day.

I always think growing veg must give you a great feeling of satisfaction and pride, whereas growing flowers feeds the soul!

lost my pentermon , even tho i kept it in the house ........... my rudbeckias too so bought a clump again .................... every thing else seems ok ............ yours is still looking very gud hun ............. jealous of your pentermon hehe o well !!!

Cristina, I leave my penstemons out all year..and apparently (so they say) if you break off some of the new growth in spring and stick it in the ground, it will grow! Not sure if it works mind..havent tried it. My Rud. Goldsturm also stays out all year..and what I have tried with this (and it works), if I see a bit come up a little away from the plant, I chop it in between new shoot and main plant and dig up the piece and stick it in a pot..grows away, no problem!

My OH has decided to store all my solar lights in my new arbour, Tet, so I can't even sit in it now!! It has become a glorified shelf!!! As you can imagine, OH is threatened with being buried under the again!!!! LOL!\0/x

Our Flori is truly frustrated, for the words she
lets fly are x-rated
Poor Andy must fly or he'll get one in the eye
And expire while being berated

The arbour it not longer shines; the gift given
no longer defines
the way Flori is feeling for she'll send Andy reeling
And she wont care if what she says rhymes!

So dear Andy you must move them quickly
Those solar lights making Flo sickly
With rage, she wont stop
She'll scream til you pop
To the garden and hide them directly!

For heavens sake - do it right now!
To avoid a terrible row
You can then both sit and cuddle
Without all that muddle
While she wipes the sweat from your brow.
