TV GARDENERS' WORLD RETURNS

Gardeners’ World on television …

New series, starting this coming Friday evening :o)))

Snowdrops in my garden

Monty Don is at his Herefordshire home, Longmeadow, where he demonstrates how to plant bare-rooted raspberries and tries to rejuvenate an overgrown, winter-flowering honeysuckle.

Carol Klein visits an ancient woodland in Hertfordshire, which is the site of thriving wild hellebore species, and Joe Swift presents a guide to boundaries.

Rachel de Thame travels to Harold Hillier’s renowned garden in Hampshire to experience the sights and scents of blooming shrubs.

I’ll be at my computer a little less till my lower back injury feels better… grrrr …. so annoying when I have lots of planting to do in my garden !

3 Mar, 2012

Hi Grandmage ...
Yes, I usually record Gardeners' World in case I want to pay closer attention to any specific plant or advice.

I've only had the injury a day or so. I think it is mostly bad bruising/torn muscles... that type of thing...

Conker is doing a lot of fetching and carrying for me :o)

3 Mar, 2012

Hope your back's soon better TT - it's annoying when you've so much you want to do!

3 Mar, 2012

Truffle wants to know if randomly leaping all over the place is also a very big help ;o)

3 Mar, 2012

Sorry to hear about your back,Terra...hope you feel better soon..hot water bottle does wonders,or a wheat bag ?

3 Mar, 2012

Phew, thank you so much for the announcement Terratoonie I was beginning to feel terribly lost as I have been searching all channels looking for gardening programmes... I found none..not even repeats. This is very good news indeed! Hope your back gets better very soon. Thank you!

Yes, good news to have Gardeners' World back on our screens :o)

3 Mar, 2012

Hooray for GW! Must be spring! Thanks, TT. Your back sounds very painful - what WERE you doing? Maybe a stiff whiskey would help?

3 Mar, 2012

will be on hols so have put it on to record..hope you feel better soon....:o)

3 Mar, 2012

I was hoping it would have been on last night, Terra ... quite disappointed to have to wait another week! ... At least I have the GW magazine to read through ... I'm in favour of a hot water bottle on your lower back ... always seems to help me ... take it easy ... :o)

3 Mar, 2012

Thanks Shirley..
Hot water bottle seems to be the main vote :o)

3 Mar, 2012

Have you tried chinese balm TT? its very good & you can get a large plaster with it on to place where you need it, very soothing.
I love you snowdrops, one seems to be looking up at the camara, Smile!
I am going to Crufts Thursday to catch up with a few friends. I have a spare ticket if Truffle would like to come. Hope he has lots of pocket money saved up because theres lots to buy, toys, treats, coats, brushes, new collar!

3 Mar, 2012

Crufts ..Thursday... Toy and Utility ..
enjoy the Affenpinschers :o)

3 Mar, 2012

Sorry to hear you've back problems, TT, and hope it clears up quickly. I had spotted that Monty Don is coming back soon and will definitely be watching :)

3 Mar, 2012

Hi Gee ... Thanks ..
I have some unopened liqueur chocs. from Christmas ... methinks they might deaden the pain ;o)

It will be interesting to see what Monty does to improve his overgrown honeysuckle.

3 Mar, 2012

so sorry to hear about your back, TT - I've heard that one can wrap a hot water bottle in a towel and lie down for a while, but it does mean you have to lie quite still so it doesn't slip off. A wheat bag has the same effect, but being in a cloth bag, it conforms to your contours and hugs you. They have to be heated in the oven. Or a gel pack, can be microwaved in seconds for the required head.
The main prob with back pain is that you often can't reach to apply medication where it's most needed.

Just did a check, apparently wheat bags can be microwaved too: Amazon has pages of 'em, scented and unscented - I'd put the url in but it's about ten lines long! but if Amazon do them, others should.

*s* just remembered the object of your blog! GW sounds good, there's a BBC website, I'll have to check that out in lieu of actually watching - and they may do catchup

3 Mar, 2012

Sorry to hear about the back pain - I'd definitely go for the liqueur chocolates - purely medicinal of course. Don't forget iplayer!

3 Mar, 2012

Thanks for the memo about GW Terra! I'd been wondering when it would come back on.... + I'm sorry to hear about your back :( I hope you're feeling better soon! (+ glad your dogs are taking good care of you!)... the chocolates definitely sound like a good idea! ;)

3 Mar, 2012

Thanks everyone for advice ...
limited to what I can use as remedies, with two lively dogs very interested in my every move .. Lol.

I've promised myself liqueur chocs. later ..
on orders of Jenny and Penny ... :o)))

3 Mar, 2012

so long as the dogs don't expect a share!

3 Mar, 2012

No. Definitely no chocolate for dogs ...

3 Mar, 2012

thanks for the heads up Terra, lovely photo's too :-)

3 Mar, 2012

Hi Surreylad .. Thanks ...
Pleased to help :o)

3 Mar, 2012

Oh dear Terra, what have you been doing to yourself, backache and toothache are so debilitating, you are in the wars lately, I think the boys are going to have to look after you for a while, especially the picking up tasks.
Thanks for the info and take care, lovely pics...

3 Mar, 2012

Hi Sue ... Thanks. I'll perk up soon ...
I've just enjoyed a whisky liqueur chocalate ... purely for medicinal purposes ... ;o)

3 Mar, 2012

Thanks Terra for the reminder, Ill be watching!! sorry to hear about your back, hope it soon clears up, keep taking the medicine lol

3 Mar, 2012

TT, when I have aches and pains I use the 'deep heat' type spray when I go to bed and find that helps. I hate the smell though so am glad to wash it off in the mornings :) Glad the choc. is helping.

3 Mar, 2012

I tried Deep Heat once, it proved a bit too intense for me, maybe I used too much. Tiger Balm is a lot kinder, and the "red" variety smells lovely and is a bit wamer as it soaks in than the "white" - the only prob is self-applying it to one's own back! I don't know if the old White Horse Linament is still available, or how good it is, had no personal experience of it

3 Mar, 2012

Thanks folks for the good wishes...
I'm still on the Ibuprofen gel and liqueurs ...

3 Mar, 2012

Morning Nariz ...
You are so right ! Lol.
Our spines take a lot of strain !

4 Mar, 2012

Thanks for telling us about this TT. I wonder if we'll have it in Wales, or will we have to endure more hours of men rolling in the mud with a ball ? :o((((((((
I shall have to check if we get it at a different time - usually ten past four on a saturday afternoon, or some such daft time :o(((
I think I'll see it on the iplayer :o)
Thanks for the reminder.

4 Mar, 2012

Lol. Rose.
At least you haven't missed any of the new season's shows :o)

4 Mar, 2012

How are you getting on now,TT? I've suffered with my back for more years than I can remember now! I hardly ever know what it's like to be without pain! The best moment in the last 30 years was the day after my operation for a slipped disc in my lower back (nearly 12 years ago) - pure bliss - to be without any pain for a day!

I was going to ask you how you hurt yourself but someone above beat me to it - by a couple of days! Hope you are on the mend now. The garden & the dogs are beckoning!

Thanks so much for telling us abut GW this coming Friday! :-)) My brother, who is staying with us for a time, is as interested as I am in seeing it!

6 Mar, 2012

Just as I thought .... They're going to show us more men rolling in the mud with a ball
:o((
I will see it on the iplayer !

9 Mar, 2012

Well it was on tonight at 7.30 ... so we watched it :o)

10 Mar, 2012

My brother, who is staying with us for a while, watched it on Friday night. We thought it would be an hour long so we were both disappointed it was only 30mins! Nevertheless we both enjoyed it! :-)) Looking forward to next week's now!

11 Mar, 2012

Glad you were able to watch the show, even though only 30 minutes.

My back/hip pain easier now thanks Balcony...

Hi Dorjac ...
Yes, thanks. I'm feeling fit again now. Working far too hard on my gardens ... but it's fun.

I hope you feel better soon ... must be so irritating when there are garden tasks waiting to be done.

24 Mar, 2012

I'm getting there slowly TT and I'm glad you are now able to work in your garden. I do a bit at time. Done a bit more just now, but its a bit too warm at the moment, so just reading The Garden mag that came today.
