Hug whoever you wish ...
... whomever you wish ? ...

.. hug photos welcome for inclusion in the blog :o)))

18 Feb, 2012

I gave Molly a hug...it was a hug of relief...last night I dreamed that she had six puppies...all of them Spaniels! :))

18 Feb, 2012

i hug my home help and my befriender; i'd like to hug more people but am a bit worried about it being misinterpreted (especially if offered to the opposite sex) or is it appropriate (to people of either sex) - is it too much too soon, sort of thing.

we're a tactile species but "sensory deprivation" is a growng habit in our boxed-in cities and lifestyles.

I must look for other people to hug, and if they take it amiss, well ...

18 Feb, 2012

Lol. Karen ... where's the pic please ?

either you with Molly, or six Spaniel puppies .. or both ;o)

18 Feb, 2012

18 Feb, 2012

It's Borzicactus strausii :o)
I forgot there's already a pic of me hugging a tree on my photo page. I could have saved Beryl the trouble of taking this one lol.

18 Feb, 2012

Lol. A pity there isn't a pic. of Beryl hugging the tree.
Thanks for cactus ID.

18 Feb, 2012

18 Feb, 2012

18 Feb, 2012

Hi Poppylinda..
Sounds like some good hugging going on in Leics :o)

18 Feb, 2012

Lol Terra... I'm not brave like Hywel :o)

18 Feb, 2012

Lol. Franny.. too prickly ..
We do have Remi hugging Holly ...
... but not prickly Holly ;o)

18 Feb, 2012

Lol...

18 Feb, 2012

I'm not sure...it looks more of a 'cuddly/furry cacti' than a 'prickly cacti'.

18 Feb, 2012

I hugged the old gentleman I help look after on Saturdays he is a sweetie, then I send you a hug TT. and later on after reading this will give my OH an extra special hug for being so special. x

18 Feb, 2012

Be ware if you try to hug a Borzicactus. Under that soft wooly hair are some very nasty spines.
But to me all cacti are huggable - you've just got the nack, or you haven't :o)

18 Feb, 2012

Well I tried hugging Harry then Tipsy, both not cooperating and Harry even growled at me in cat talk, Brynner thinks I`m playing and won`t keep still so I`ve got lots of pics to delete, Caspar and Morgan have both gone to bed, so I`ll send hugs to all my Goy friends instead, I did succeed in giving my grandson a big hug before he went to bed, he`s a very handsome blue-eyed blonde but at 11yrs old now, hugs for him have to take him by surprise, lol.

18 Feb, 2012

Aw what a lovely blog, a huggable week sounds good to me, thank you for including Henri and I......one of my favourite huggables!! I'll check what other huggy photo's I have for you, loving all the pics :o)
Hywel you made me smile who else would have thought to hug a cactus :o))))

18 Feb, 2012

Hi Terra, this is a lovely theme for a blog, there aren't enough heartfelt hugs being given out. Can I give three? First one is a return squeeze for my lovely, daft, goy and personally great friend, wee Rose, with her heart of gold, and the second one is for another goy friend who's heart is sore at the moment, my good friend from overseas, Lil, she really needs a hug at the moment. The final one is really a hug and a bit, it's for my hilarious goy friend 230338, Tony, and his sidekick, Tiny... the irrepressible budgie!

18 Feb, 2012

Lovely blog TT....hugs to everyone!
I've uploaded a picture of Kooki cozying into Oscar...not quite a hug but it's cute :)

18 Feb, 2012

Great blog Terra...really heart warming....Thank you for the lovely comment Karen, sending you a hug....:>)

19 Feb, 2012

Would my photo "me and Kaa" count as a pic of a hug??

19 Feb, 2012

hi TT how do i get the picture to you ?? :)))
love this blog BBFB :__)

19 Feb, 2012

I'd like to hug 'Peg-leg' - the one-legged blackbird we saw during last Summer. You should have heard us cheer when we noticed him on the meadow a few days ago! Bless him! He's survived the frost and snow and has been bathing - in a very wobbly way - in my bird bath and also hunts for insects in a very 'passive' way - stands on one leg and waits for them to come to him, which they seem to do! Here's a hug Peg-leg (((>)))

19 Feb, 2012

Hi Grandmage ..
thanks for your hugs and I'm pleased the old gentleman and your OH enjoyed their hugs too :o) x

Hello Lincslass ...
Hugs photos for this blog are welcome for many days to come, so if those photo opportunities occur, please send a pic for the blog.. Thanks.. Surely beautiful Brynner will pose for the cameras ? ;o)

Neena ...

Fran ... With your creative abilities, I'm relying on you to upload a very original and special hug pic... Come on Fran... you can do it ;o)

Mark ... I'll send you a message. x. BBFF

Hi Nariz ... Peg-leg sounds super ! Do you have a photo, so that we can all send this brave blackbird some special virtual hugs ? :o)

19 Feb, 2012

19 Feb, 2012

Ah, thanks Moti, needed that! :)

19 Feb, 2012

Last night I dreamed that Molly was a white cat. I'm not kidding you here...my dreams are absolutely fascinating!...anyway, I dreamed that when we were out walking she ran across the road to get to us and was knocked down and seemed dead. :(((( But a stranger came and picked her up and sort of ruffled her a bit and she suddenly shook herself and came back to life! :)))))....so this morning, I hugged her again! :)

19 Feb, 2012

OMG Karen ...
Molly certainly deserves some hugs after that dream !
.. and a hug for the dream stranger too ...

Are you eating too much cheese before bedtime ?
You certainly have some amazing dreams !

19 Feb, 2012

sory, TT, I deleted that photo and put another up. didn't see you'd already seen it till it was too late. x

to everyone else: check out me and my inflatable man???

19 Feb, 2012

I,ve only got koi carp as pets now....and they are more difficult to hug than Hywels cacti (I,d like a hug Hywel...well you did offer....:0)
((((o)))) so theres one for you and a double one for ourfriends Conker and Truffle ((((((oo))))))
I,m getting in the mood now and will go and hug willow and chestnut.....my trees....

19 Feb, 2012

Hi Fran... your pic is great.. Thanks :o))

Hello Pam ..
Conker and Truffle say thanks for hugs.
Crocus waiting and hoping ;o) ...

Lucky trees to have cuddles from you...
.. yes a carp cuddle not quite so easy !

I'm about to add some more great pics...:o)))))))

19 Feb, 2012

Loving all these hugs winging through the computer and the super huggy photos - gem of a blog TT, a pity we couldn't get world leaders to have one too!!! thinks........

19 Feb, 2012

Hi Neena..
Glad you're enjoying this !
..new pics being included all the time.
Thanks for your photos :o) x

19 Feb, 2012

Sorry Crocus....I wasn,t sure if you liked hugs so have a virtual one....just in case....{{{¤}}}

19 Feb, 2012

Crocus tweets "Thanks, Pam ..
... that hug was light as a feather duster" ;o)

19 Feb, 2012

Hi TT. No, sorry - no photo as I can't get close enough and my camera is a 90s wind-up version! It's not always possible to get close to birds in this region as they are not like your 'back garden birds' - they still retain a great fear of us huge two-legged creatures. I maintain their bird bath but I never put food out for them as there's so much good hunting on the meadow and in my garden. I actually thought of attempting a photo this morning when I saw him on the meadow, but all you'd see would be a tiny black blob and lots of grass! :o(

19 Feb, 2012

Hi Nariz ..
Makes sense that the birds are wary ...
Sending lots of hugs to you and the brave blackbird :o)

19 Feb, 2012

19 Feb, 2012

Another well illustrated blog TT - How do you dream them up?

19 Feb, 2012

Thanks Tracey ...
I'm not sure where the ideas come from.. Lol.

19 Feb, 2012

Nice to see everyone joining in :)

19 Feb, 2012

Hi Scottish...
Yes the GoYers are great aren't they !
such a smashing mix of pics. including yours of the lovely Kooki and Oscar :o)

19 Feb, 2012

getting ideas is one thing, acting on them is another, and keeping it going is yet another! Great blog TT, and lovely photos (with one exception" *s*) and look forward to seeing mroe.

Hugs to TT and to everyone who contributed, and another one to TT and one for everyone in GoY and another one to TT for luck!

20 Feb, 2012

Oh Fran, I've lost count now lol :o)

20 Feb, 2012

lol after "hug a hamster" can we have "bop a banker" or "punch a politician"???

20 Feb, 2012

Lol. Hywel .. and Fran ..
Can anyone guess the "mystery lady" GoY member in the last pic... ?
.. it's not me... and not my cat ! Lol.

20 Feb, 2012

not guilty, m'lud!

20 Feb, 2012

Is it Cristina?

20 Feb, 2012

No, Grandmage, but that's a good guess :o)

20 Feb, 2012

Is it Sanbaz?

20 Feb, 2012

He He He ... no...
but it is a member who owns a cat now :o)

20 Feb, 2012

lol that narrows it down a bit!

20 Feb, 2012

And, these days, her skirts are just a little bit longer ...
Lol.

20 Feb, 2012

I am thinking very hard,Terra..but no inspiration as yet...now,how many members have a cat ? !!...so,I gather this lady is more mature now..(trying to find a tactful way to describe her..)...Is she a regular contributor on GoY? .....oh,and btw,why ISN'T there a pic of you yet ?????

20 Feb, 2012

I've put a pic of Conker and Sylvester on, representing me.
Maybe one day I'll dig out a photo from years ago. Lol.

Yes, this lady is very well-liked... would not object to being described as slightly more mature now ... often on GoY ...

20 Feb, 2012

So thats a lot of us that this would fit,Terra...still thinking ! Lol....got to go and get spruced up now..meeting Yorkshire for lunch :o)..will check this afternoon...I'm sure someone will have guessed by then...or more clues maybe...enjoy your day..xx

20 Feb, 2012

Lol.
If nobody can guess, I'll give some clues later :o)

20 Feb, 2012

lol the name would be a brilliant clue!

20 Feb, 2012

Clues please!

20 Feb, 2012

Clue ... the name is on this blog ;o)

20 Feb, 2012

Some lovely new hugs..pointers with Lulu and lots of lovely babies....still havn,t guessed the mystery girl unless its our Yorkshire.......

20 Feb, 2012

Hi Pam..
Yes, some wonderful new photos added to the blog ..
Mystery lady is not our Yorkshire ...

20 Feb, 2012

lol I'll do a Poirot, wait till everyone else has guessed and got it wrong, then leap in with a "dazzling display of deductive reasoning"!

20 Feb, 2012

Well.....it's not Hywel or mark.....

20 Feb, 2012

Lol. Fran ... little grey cells working ?

Lol. Lulu ... no, not Hywel or Mark :o)

20 Feb, 2012

more or less, TT, tending somewhat towards the "less"!

now I know what they mean about "surly in the morning"!

20 Feb, 2012

Is that like the song ?
"Surly one morning, just as the sun was rising" ? Lol.

20 Feb, 2012

just had a thought its not someone who loves Stickitoffee pudding is it?

20 Feb, 2012

spot on, TT!

20 Feb, 2012

It is a lady who has visited this blog, so not Stickitoffee

20 Feb, 2012

hmmm, ze liddle grey cells are starting work ...

20 Feb, 2012

Is it Karensusan Terra???

20 Feb, 2012

My guess is Sanbaz, because they are both cuddling cats :)

20 Feb, 2012

Lots of good guesses, but no....
Would you like more clues ? :o)

20 Feb, 2012

Lincslass....she's got cats....?

20 Feb, 2012

Lincslass does have cats,

but no ...

but it is a lady who has visited this blog ...

20 Feb, 2012

possible clues ... ?

how many words in the name?

does the name contain numbers??

lol "sounds like ..."

20 Feb, 2012

Doesn't rhyme with Fran or Pam. LOL

20 Feb, 2012

thanks, I can cross me off the list as well as Pam, even though I don't have cats (sounds nasty, would think medical intervention would be called for!)

20 Feb, 2012

Great blog some smashing photo,s mine to follow hopefully later, so virtual hug's to all specially Spritzhenry, and is it Lulu ? :-))

20 Feb, 2012

Hi Mavis... Thanks.
If you have a hug photo that would be wonderful please.

No, the mystery pic is not Lulu...
but the mystery lady's name is on this page...

She'll have fun reading all the guesses :o)

20 Feb, 2012

I don't have cats either Fran....only fish.....how about Libet?? don't think its Lulu as she's asked for clues unless its a double bluff......

20 Feb, 2012

How about our Libet, I`m going quite dizzy here, lol, plus nearly cremated my Toad in the Hole, good job hubby likes his dinner well done..

20 Feb, 2012

Snap

20 Feb, 2012

It is someone who has given the blog a "like"...
... there's a big clue ... :o)

so, not the lovely Libet ...

20 Feb, 2012

Driad ?????

20 Feb, 2012

Lol.. No.... :o)

20 Feb, 2012

lol Lincslass, when I read that you'd nearly cremated your Toad it conjured up some very vivid mental images until I read the next bit!

I thi nk TT should be TTT - Teasing Terratoonie - or even T4 - Terratoonie The Teaser

20 Feb, 2012

or for Lincslass's cooking ...
TTT = Thoroughly Toasted Toad ;o)

20 Feb, 2012

Neellan, LOL,

20 Feb, 2012

No.... please don't burn any more food. Lol.

20 Feb, 2012

LOL, Hubby said" that was particularly nice, what have you done different?"

20 Feb, 2012

Moral of the story...

... spend a lot of time reading GoY blogs ..

and as the dinner sends out smoke signals
the flavour will improve amazingly... ;o)

20 Feb, 2012

I've just sent a GoY message to the mystery lady.

Asked her to look at all your name guesses :o)))

20 Feb, 2012

Kasy? Shirley tulip?

20 Feb, 2012

And the PRIZE GOES TO MAVIS !!!

YES... the lady with the mini-mini-skirt is ..

our own stunning Shirley tulip :o)))

20 Feb, 2012

LOL, Lilcrawford, do you realise how long its taking scrolling up and down..

20 Feb, 2012

Oh, well done Mavis, better go load the dishwasher now...
Got one pic Terra, trying to sort another but hubby `s looking at the football..

20 Feb, 2012

Thanks Sue...
is the pic. going to be "hug a toasted toad" ? ;o)

20 Feb, 2012

lol, now if you`d asked earlier I could have taken one..

20 Feb, 2012

Lol. ... such a missed opportunity ;o)

20 Feb, 2012

I think there is something that you can do to get you from top to bottom really quick but I can't remember how ?

20 Feb, 2012

On right side of your keyboard, press End to shoot to the base of the page, and then press Home to shoot up to the top again...

Is that what you meant Mavis ?

20 Feb, 2012

I'm back! ...so,it's our Shirley....it did cross my mind, but for some reason I discounted it...didn't think she would flash her pins..:o) but a good pair ,I must say......trendy young fashion icon of the day...I wonder what mum used to say to her ? Same as a lot,I suppose.."you're not going out dressed like that, are you ? "or" you'll regret it when your older, and catch your death of cold " ...ha ha..It's been great playing the guessing game,Terra..hope to see more pics..keep em coming..:o)

20 Feb, 2012

Ahhh didn't think of Shirley!!!

well done Mavis !

20 Feb, 2012

Yes Terratoonie that's what I meant :-))

20 Feb, 2012

Hi Bloomer ..
Yes, I wonder what Shirley's parents thought of her fashionable attire ? ;o)

... I think a few more hug-pics in the pipeline :o)

Agree with you Pam... well done to Mavis :o)

20 Feb, 2012

thanks for that tip, TT! I'm in the habit of CTRL-Page down - one key is always better than a combo! and of course, Home takes you to the top of the pagea gain - again, better than CTRL-page up.

lol has anyone counted how many wrong guesses there were?

20 Feb, 2012

These are the names which were ruled out along the way to guessing the mystery mini-skirt lady ...

Cristina, Sanbaz, Yorkshire, Hywel, Mark, Stoffee, Karensusan, Lincslass, Fran, Pamg, Lulu33, Libet, Driad, Neellan, Kasy ...

Correct answer ... Shirley tulip :o)))

Have I missed any names ?
Some were suggested twice.. Lol.

20 Feb, 2012

hi TT i missed it but, and i new the answer lol :)))

20 Feb, 2012

lol Mark, just say your letter was delayed in the post!

20 Feb, 2012

Hi Mark...
I knew that wasn't you in the mini-skirt ;o)

20 Feb, 2012

Terra, over 150 comments on this blog now ... well done to Mavis for guessing correctly! ...

I found that ancient photo (early 70's I think) whilst sorting drawers and cupboards at Mums ... she reminded me that my Dad was disgusted with the length of my skirt ... and would not walk down the road with me ... lol! ... Fluffy was my very favourite cat of the three we had over the years ... he was always happy to be cuddled ... lol! ... My legs are nearly always covered by trousers these days ... ;o)

20 Feb, 2012

Hi Shirley... Thanks for the photo ..

It seems many who wore mini-skirts are now gardening in trousers .. Lol.
Fluffy looks a lovely cat .. cuddly ..
... very appropriate for this hug blog .. :o)

20 Feb, 2012

very well done Mavis you beat me by a hour or 2 lol :))
lol TT :)))

20 Feb, 2012

One of our feral cats who disappeared and we thought had died about a year ago, Mrs Saggytummy, has turned up in the cellar to feed: I was soooo happy to see her I got all emotional and tried to hug her. I have a scratched nose for my pains. So I shall send big sloppy hugs to all my GoY friends instead, who I'm sure don't have such sharp claws.
Lovely, lovely idea, TT!
P.S. I wore one of the first miniskirts ever towards the beginning of the 60's (very daring - my father nearly threw me out) but there's no way any of you are going to see what I wear now! (Clue- it's NOT a mini)

20 Feb, 2012

Hi Gattina.
How lovely that the feral cat returned. Nice to know that Mrs. Saggytummy is back, and that you did try to give her a hug, even if your scratched nose is the evidence !

You say you're NOT wearing a mini-skirt ...
... in all that snow ? ;o)

20 Feb, 2012

going to school and turning your waistband over.....:0))

20 Feb, 2012

Lol. Pam.. too much information...
.. and too good a memory it seems ;o) x

20 Feb, 2012

TT I didn't say I don't OWN a mini any more - I just don't get to wear it very often. (Makes OH feel a bit queasy)

20 Feb, 2012

Lol Gattina...
Distract OH by wearing the mini skirt ...
... and then you can switch the TV from the rugby to the gardening programmes :o)

20 Feb, 2012

My dad was terrible with his insults, luckily I was already married when I started wearing them so he had to keep quiet as regards me, didn`t shut him up as regards others though, it was very embarrassing at times him being deaf he`d often shout without realising and we`d squirm ..

20 Feb, 2012

Hi Sue ..
I can imagine your Dad voicing his opinions on the short skirts, unaware that everyone could hear his comments...Lol.

20 Feb, 2012

Wow what a an amazing blog, wonderful pictures, full of wit ,banter laughter and fun. Many thanks to Terra for all her work, patience and skills in coordinating this very entertaining blog Hip Hip Hooray;0)))

20 Feb, 2012

lol I remember doing that, Pam - when minis came in, I was the only girl in the school whi had to wear below-knee skirts; i turned the waistband over so much i didn't have a waist, i went straight up and down!

and my first miniskirts; shee, they were more hip-pelmets - the younger generation think they discovered minis - they'd be loooon skirts by comparison!

lol still got a couple of minis, but now I tend to wear them over leggings

20 Feb, 2012

Hello Pansypotter.
Thanks for your lovely photo with the wonderful Polly :o)
I'm glad you enjoyed the blog ... more 'hug' photos still to come this week :o)

Hi Fran ..
yes, some of those mini-skirts were just pelmets weren't they. Lol. ;o)

20 Feb, 2012

Hi BB ... Thanks ..
All hugs sent and gratefully received on this blog :o)

20 Feb, 2012

Glad to see your pic of you and Polly,Carole..I hoped it would be on before long..just going to check your email :o)

20 Feb, 2012

Why can't John Prescott hug his sons (Very out of touch over here.....)?
TT, I think if I got the mini on, OH would turn straight to the Rugby to punish me, or rather to take his mind off the dreadful spectacle.....

20 Feb, 2012

lol TT, there's your next challenge - the GoY mini-skirt parade! as we're non-sexist, open to blokes as well ....

20 Feb, 2012

Lol. Gattina..
I'm glad everyone is joining in keeping this as a happy hug blog... too much sadness and bad weather around lately ...

20 Feb, 2012

Oh please NO MORE made up photos of me in a skirt - very embarrassing :o((

20 Feb, 2012

"no more"?? you mean there is some already?? who's got the negatives??

20 Feb, 2012

Someone took a photo off my page, and drew a skirt on it lol, ..... I didn't mind that once, but NO MORE pleeeease :o(

20 Feb, 2012

A bit late with the remarks regarding mini-skirts and fathers' comments but ..... I remember the days (and the cold knees!!!) and also remember that the 'Maxi' came in hot on the hem of the 'mini.' As it was Winter, it was a very (I thought) sensible fashion, but I remember standing in a bakers shop and another (lady of a certain age) customer poked fun at a girl walking past in a fashionable maxi coat. You just can't win, can you!

21 Feb, 2012

Oh Nariz..I had forgotten about the Maxi...I loved my coat..wore it with those black shiny stretch knee boots ..plasticy things !Lol...my coat was what they called bottle green...lovely and warm, but must have looked like a conifer :o)

21 Feb, 2012

This is a big hug for Ba.....((((((0))))))

21 Feb, 2012

Hywel has someone been. playing tricks?

21 Feb, 2012

I have a rather nice Bottle green winter coat, which I wear with trousers, and I DEFINITELY look like a Christmas tree in it - I just need a string or two of tinsel and a few lights.......

21 Feb, 2012

You folks are all giving a whole new meaning to
"hug a tree" ;o)

21 Feb, 2012

Lol,Gattina..well,this is the right blog for our comments about our green coats....anyone want to hug two trees ? :o)..and I'm not even going to suggest where you adorn your person, with the tinsel..or lights !!

Haha Terra..we just crossed there ..great minds eh ? :o)

21 Feb, 2012

lol Nariz, I remember when Maxis first came out, there was a cartoon by Sally Artz - two street sweepers looking at a street full of women earing maxis, and one was saying, "it's great, it cuts my job in half"

But those were incredible times - every six months you had to change your entire wardrobe, because the fashion had suddenly changed, or you were wearing the "wrong" colour or something. Thank goodness for nowadays, when one can wear what one likes. Or is that just a sign of getting old?

21 Feb, 2012

Thanks Pam...I needed that.... (((((((((0))))))))) and a bigger one back:-))) Radio 4 this morning...going on about John Prescott and his lack of sonhugs....bet they've all had a sneaky look at Tt's blog...:-))))

21 Feb, 2012

Lovely to see so many hugs going to and fro ...:o)))

21 Feb, 2012

I think it's just us,Gattina..the young trendies do the same as we did..cheap and cheerful ,and not done, to go to the same dance two weeks running in the same dress..I used to got to C&A or a shop called Paiges ..do you recall that chain store ? . ..all those 'in your face'colours in figure hugging Crimplene,in old money £59/11d..or if you were lucky..£49/11d..(that doesn't look right ,does it ?)..happy days Lol.

21 Feb, 2012

Lol. Bloomer .. Don't need the £ signs...

£59 for a dress ? ;o)

maybe 59s 11d ?

or ... £2. 9s 11d ?

or 59/11 ?

21 Feb, 2012

I can remember ha'pennies, and the prices were usually something like £9.19/11 1/2 so they could still say "under ten pounds!". They probably did the same wth farthings, but I do'nt remember those.

They did that kind of thing with with furniture suites, £199.99 and even cars - a penny under £30,000 to make it seem "cheaper"!

oh, crimplene! the first "non-iron" material, as I recall? "wash and wear", wasn't it? I had a bright yellow trouser suit and sleeveless jerkin - the recollection of the photo, at least, is pretty vivid!

21 Feb, 2012

good morning hugs (((o)))

we used to have a really big C&A in the town..... its Primark now.....:o((

a few years ago we went to Bruges in Belgium and there was C&A !!

I miss Littlewoods as well, used to get some nice things from there...

21 Feb, 2012

Morning Pam ... (((o)))
Maybe all those missing stores are now in Belgium ?

We could take a trip there to find out, and even if we can't find the stores, we might come across some nice chocolates ;o)

21 Feb, 2012

Thats sad Bilbo.....

Some very nice chocolates Terra if a tad expensive, the ones I liked best were giant chocolate buttons from the chocolate factory tour(free tasting...)
The first time I went most be dozen or two years ago the old ladies still sat at their doors making lace

21 Feb, 2012

I find it strange how people vary - neither of my parents, nor any of my grandparents were 'huggy' people, and neither is my brother. I don't remember any 'huggy' aunts, or uncles, or cousins either. And Beryl isn't 'huggy' either. And Blodyn hates it lol
But I love being hugged, and I love giving them too :o) I am the odd one out lol :D

I hope you are feeling better today TT

Pam - that thing about a skirt was a bit of fun from one member, and I didn't mind it. But I don't want it to go on.

Can't be on GoY much today - too much to do lol :o)

21 Feb, 2012

Ah TT, what a lovely thought that Bonsai and June are both cuddled up and hugging each other in Four-Legged Heaven XXXXXX

21 Feb, 2012

(((o))) hugs for you, Hywel and for Pam ..

I'm feeling better today, thanks.

21 Feb, 2012

Hi Terry60 ...
I hope you're feeling perkier this week.
Don't worry.. Bonsai and June are cuddled and safe in 4-legged heaven. xxxxxxx

21 Feb, 2012

sadly, it's more than genes that are passed down families; habits can be hereditary, too.

lol shall we start organising a meet-up and trip to Belgium???

21 Feb, 2012

i've added 2 pics for your blog...i think im taking hugging a bit far on one...lol

21 Feb, 2012

Keep on hugging folks ...
... and eating chocolate ;o)
... works wonders !

Thanks, Sandra.
I've just returned home ..
Your fantastic photos are now on this blog :o)

21 Feb, 2012

Ahh that's nice, thanks TT. I'm sending hugs to you, Conker, Truffle and a gentle one for Crocus :O)))
I love the pic of Shirley, that outfit would go down well now.

21 Feb, 2012

Thanks for all the hugs, Annella .. xxx

Your two photos are great additions to this blog...

yes, Shirley's photo is fab. isn't it ..
Fluffy the cat didn't seem to mind the short skirt ..
just wanted a lovely cuddle :o)

21 Feb, 2012

Oh .good lots more hugs today..:o) Thanks for putting the 'old money' in order for me,Terra....I can't believe I'd forgotten how to do it ! .So it's off to Amsterdam then ?
C & A was still there in 2005,as I bought a jacket there..still wearing it.!If you fancy going to Palma,Majorca, there is one there too..could be a bit warmer there ..anyone up for that instead ?..

21 Feb, 2012

Wait for meeeeeeeee!!

21 Feb, 2012

Just seen the latest huggy pics! Love them..:o) aw ,our Annella and lovely children..and huggy tree Sandra ...just brilliant :o)))

21 Feb, 2012

Hi Sandra ..
Yes, super new blog pics.
GoYers are great aren't they :o)))

But why are you heading for Holland when we are going to Belgium ? Lol. Was it something we said, or have I misread the comments ? ;o)

... wherever we go, of course Annie and others can come along too :o) x

21 Feb, 2012

Point 1. Who would WANT to hug John Prescott?

Point 2. I know the C&A branch in Bruges - it's no better than the tacky ones in the UK were.

Point 3. I remember shoe prices - 39/11 were reasonable, 49/11 if you felt flush, 59/11 if there was a REALLY special occasion in the offing, 69/11 & 79/11 were for people with more money than sense.

Point 4. My mum was a dressmaker, and made all my clothes for me until I was old enough to make my own, so I never got the pretty, cheap, fun rubbish clothes that all my friends wore - mine took a year to make, had all the seams meticulously bound, and by the time they were ready for me to wear, I didn't want them any more. I once kicked over the traces and bought a really snazzy little fluorescent green number from John Lewis in Sloane Square. My mother nearly burst an artery when she saw it and I though World War 3 was about to break out. If I hadn't worn it home from the shop she'd have made me take it back! I had to leave home in order to buy the psychedelic prints of the mid sixties.

21 Feb, 2012

lol my mum wasn't a dressmaker but still made all our clothes - I dreaded going to school sometimes and having to take my coat off ... her attitude was, when I pay for it, I can choose what I wear - hence the calf-length skirts in the mini age - and the 6 inches extra around the waist where I tucked it over, lol

21 Feb, 2012

Cos I never saw one when we went to Bruges..Terra,and I need to resist all those Chocolates :o) ..not that I would be buying other things available in Amsterdam..!! ..Let me know if you are going by ferry,or plane..and we will meet up for a group hug..:o)

21 Feb, 2012

Lol. Sandra... I thought perhaps you were determined to avoid the Brussels Sprouts ;o)

DEFINITELY a group hug on the European mainland...
could include Gattina, and Terry60 ... very international ;o)

Fran, it's a pity your mother couldn't have been persuaded that it would have been cheaper to make a skirt with less material... Lol.

21 Feb, 2012

That was another factor,Terra..don't like them.. I would much prefer the Tulips ! ..not for eating I may add..:o)

Lol,about Fran's mums dressmaking..sorry Fran.. but it made me smile..those were the days when you were supposed to 'grow' into your clothes...:o))

21 Feb, 2012

Wow so much to catch up on, on here TT. brilliant. love all the new pics! ((((((((((((0)))))))))))
I know the reason why things cost ie. £1.19.11d, and today £5.99 it is to stop theft! yes, thats right, if something was £2. or £5. then there is no reason to open the till, the money could be put on the side and then later on pocketed, now by paying £5.99 or £1.19.11, the till had to be opened to give the customer one penny change and the item purchased was then logged in the till! Clever eh? Obviously with modern tills now that have stock control and special coding this doesnt happen, also £5.99 is cheaper than £6!! Lol

21 Feb, 2012

lol TT that never occured to me as an arguement in them days!

I read that when early shops started to employ non-family members, GM, they made it 99p so that it would have to rung up on the till to give the customer the change, wheras £1 could go straight into the pocket. but nowadays there's no reason for it - other than to claim that a three-piece suite is "under £900" or a car "under £6,000"!

Irritates me on market stalls, they have the £x.99 label, but you have to ask for the change! I do it to be awkward.

And on eBay - when I used to sell on there, I wanted to set my base price at £1, but it cost about thirty bob extra to ster a penny higher. dunno what it'd cost these days.

I've seen a couple of shops, online and real, that have their pices at round pounds or fifty pences, rather than £x.99 or £x.49 - they get my vote - and my cash!

lol I still use old money terms now and then, as can be told by the "thirty bob"! - I'll go into a supermarket, and exclaim, "Twelve bob for a Mars bar!!" and some people grin and others look totally baffled - you can guess the age groups of each.

21 Feb, 2012

Lovely photos you've added TT. That one of Annie in her Mum's tum is very special! :)

21 Feb, 2012

I never thought of it like that,Grandmage, and thank goodness it is very rare now..but still happens occasionally..they are just too dumb to realise how good the new systems are..

21 Feb, 2012

Thats why I like M&S, Fran, so much easier isnt it! You sound like my dear old gran, she used to say 30p for a donut, thats six shillings!! She would be upset even more now they are almost a £1 each.
B. do you think it still happens nowadays??

21 Feb, 2012

Hi Karen..
Yes .. lots of lovely new pics added to the fabulous photos from members already here...

My eyes are rather tired so I'll catch up with other comments later. I'm pleased so many people are enjoying the blog :o)))

21 Feb, 2012

214 comments now TT. you must be exhausted! Take care. x

21 Feb, 2012

Thanks, Grandmage, I will.
I'm so glad that members have kept this as a happy, chatty blog which was the intention...

... and in fact, typical of GoY ... with your wonderful photos etc , you're making the blog far better than I could have imagined. :o))) Thank you...

21 Feb, 2012

It is such a happy blog TT. You are the one to be thanked.xx

21 Feb, 2012

Thanks for the Hug Dear Sandra, I have sent one to you via our lovely hostess Terra. My first job when I left school was at C&a Mode as a trainee Window Dresser, got fed up though as all I was given to do was hold handfuls of pins o pass to my senior and pick up Dropped pins with a magnet, so I soon moved onto better things. Hey I loved wearing the Mini skirts as much as the Lads liked looking lol Those were the days, dont get many looks now in my regulation trousers lol

21 Feb, 2012

lovely new photo's Terra, what lovely children Anella....x

21 Feb, 2012

we may have supplied the straw, TT, but you made the bricks all on your own - and built a Great Wall out of them!

21 Feb, 2012

It does,Grandmage..all sorts of fiddles are tried by staff, thankfully in the minority now...my daughter is an Admin manager for the Supermarket that I used to work for..and one of her jobs is checking that the takings balance..you wouldn't believe what they THINK they are getting away with...sometimes cameras are well worth their 'big brother' image ..and very necessary these days, for the tempted..!..Of course, most losses are by shoplifters..we used to have to have a 'Turkey Patrol' at Christmas Lol....some of them looked as though they were fattened up like the Turkey's :o))

21 Feb, 2012

You are welcome,Carole..thanks for yours:o) we have the advantage that we can hug in person, don't we ? ..know what you mean about regulation trousers..my legs don't see much daylight either, these days Lol.

Fran..that is a brilliant way of putting it..I agree :o))

21 Feb, 2012

21 Feb, 2012

remember the time I bought lizzie a lovely little white hamster, came in put hamster on kitchen top and got the cage out, must have taken ten seconds came back and suki was licking her lips, poor thing hadnt been in the house 10mins,after that every time we brought a box in the house she was there as if to say"did you bring me another snack then",we never got another hamster as the teen was traumatized

21 Feb, 2012

Hi Ladybug.
Sorry I confused you with the blog title.. !

21 Feb, 2012

As regards C&A - the shops are alive and well and living in Spain! (And just as tacky!) ;o)

22 Feb, 2012

Hi Nariz...
Hoping you'll join us in the GoY Group Hug on the European mainland ... not necessarily in C & A ;o) Lol.

22 Feb, 2012

You mustn't forget all our friends on other continents - we're an international phenomenon! A Worldwide hug!

22 Feb, 2012

Well said Gattina .. :o)))

22 Feb, 2012

smiles, maybe people in countries tha don't have English as their main language could tell us the word for "hug" in that country's languaege?

*s* educational as well as fun!

22 Feb, 2012

You're right, Fran ... GoY is very educational.

By the way, two lovely new photos added above .. :o)))

22 Feb, 2012

double thumbs up to GoY for that, Pam!!

In fact, if anyone deserves a global hug .....

22 Feb, 2012

Today I mentioned I'd added an extra photo of Hywel, but I'm having slight "technical difficulties" with that one, so the pic isn't on here yet ...will add it later...

22 Feb, 2012

22 Feb, 2012

and maybe some "overseas" pics to come soon .. :o)

22 Feb, 2012

lol I think we're going for the "longest blop posts" world record here ... or at least we're in with a chance.

22 Feb, 2012

Hi Fran ... for a long time, my GoY Wellie Olympics blogs held the records... LOL.

I've seen some TV today..
This morning on Channel 5, Matthew Wright introduced a discussion about hugging ...
.. and now, on BBC1 Bargain Hunt, Tim Wonnacott is hugging trees ..

but we did it first on GoY... LOL.

22 Feb, 2012

I must have blinked and missed those, TT, but will soon make up that lack

lol can you sue them for breach of copyright?

22 Feb, 2012

Here's another blog with lots of comments from a very supportive GoY readership :o)

http://www.growsonyou.com/terratoonie/blog/6771--waggy-tails-into-winter-conker-s-chemo-completed

22 Feb, 2012

Just had a look at 'Wellie Olympics' Terra..that is some lengthy blog and pics..but great stuff.:o))....a long way to go to catch up to that one ! .Lol.

22 Feb, 2012

Hi Bloomer ...
I just replied to you there, my very first blog ! Lol.

22 Feb, 2012

We`ve had some grand blogs over the years Terra, a lot of them all down to you, lots of hugs over the years as well, they all helped us when we needed them, I was astounded at the lovely comments and hugs sent my way when I lost Malik, then through the bad times with mum and more recently my dad, things like that mean a lot.
I know also how much love and support you received whilst going through Conkers illness, he`s famous bless him, without Goy we would never have known most of these lovely people..
So the biggest hug is coming your way,xx

22 Feb, 2012

Nearly forgot, I`ve had a big hug and a wash from a much bigger Brynner..Lol..Uploaded on my page...

22 Feb, 2012

Thanks so much, Sue...
yes, GoY is there for the good times and the difficult times... a wonderful worldwide group of friends... for our gardening, pets and hugs, and lots more :o))) xxx

I'll check out your photo very soon !

I'm going to copy a comment in a moment which I've just written today on my very first blog, which Fran and Bloomer discovered. It explains how different the GoY format for blogs was back then.....

22 Feb, 2012

Back in 2008 when I joined GoY, the format for blog writing was very different ...
...no opportunity to save a draft...
...you had to get it right first time ... !!!

...and also no photos could be included... I added the pics. to my early blogs a little later, when the format of GoY was changed to allow pictures in blogs :o)

Those were good times, and also challenging times...

But, with each experience, Peter and Ajay made GoY better and better, into the user-friendly site we know today :o)

Hi Terry60 ...
In the end I was so confused, I was expecting to see a pic. of your daughter with a grizzly bear... !!

Terry, your daughters guinea pig looks for all the world like a very cute rat:-)

There must be something in the air regarding hugs and cuddles - the Valentine's Card I gave to Partner said "BIG CUDDLES coming your way."

23 Feb, 2012

Hi Nariz .. Lol.
You were ahead of all of us with your cuddles :o)
A photo of the card would have been good for this blog !

23 Feb, 2012

Nooooo Bornagain - eeeeh don't tell me that's a rat - I was confused enough as it was....

We were at a friend's and she picked it up to cuddle it. Couldn't we possibly PLEASE pretend it's either a big hamster or mutated guinea pig .... not too keen on the thought of it being a pet rat .... (will I be done for animal prejudice??!!!). Whatever, I suppose it's the hug that counts!

23 Feb, 2012

Hi Terry60 ...
I did wonder whether the Italian hamsters and guinea pigs had become mutations of the more usual types seen in England... ;o)

23 Feb, 2012

Clever thought TT - perhaps they change in translation!

23 Feb, 2012

Never mind... it is still a super photo...

Definitely a rat, you can see it's tail hanging down under very pretty daughter's arm! They make wonderful pets and are very, very huggable :)

23 Feb, 2012

Yes .. cute rat... and I noticed that curly white tail !

23 Feb, 2012

I admit defeat you two, but I still don't like the thought of it being rat, tail or no tail! (well never since I read "La Peste" by Camus many many moons ago ....).

Why is it I wonder do we have aversions to some animals and not to others ?? I wouldn't touch a snake with a barge pole yet would think nothing of holding a spider, my friend on t'other hand is the complete opposite .... nowt so queer as folk, as they say :)

23 Feb, 2012

24 Feb, 2012

I didn't think they used rats in school labs anymore Bornagain ...

I know I'm not too keen on them but the thought of what goes (or hopefully went) on during lab experiments makes me cringe ...

24 Feb, 2012

No Terry, I don't think they do any more, hopefully. Yogi belonged to one of my son's first girlfiends, sometime in the mists of antiquity. Rats are rather intelligent animals and, if you just look at their little faces, very cute:-)

Lol. Pam ...

Yesterday evening, very sleepy, I decided to complete a crossword before going to bed...

I was tired ...
the first clue Across was "Popular cage pet" (7 letters) .

I thought of budgie and canary (both six letters)

Then I realised ... Lol.

When my son chris was a very young sprog, he loved watching the record player turntable go round (what was that about???) He also had some favourite songs. One day he asked me to put on the "candle song" His dad and I wracked our brains for ages, but couldn't think which song he was asking for. I went through all the record titles and when I read out the title of a Hank Williams (country and western) song his little face lit up, that's it he said joyfully....it was called 'I just don't like this kind o' livin' !!!!:-)

My next door neighbour in a previous house enjoyed the garden, and she always used to talk about 'those piano flowers' ... and I didn't like to ask her what she meant. Well I found out one day, they were peonies lol

I used to take my young daughters across to a sweet shop on a Saturday afternoon as a treat and they were allowed to pick something each. My youngest said she wanted "Awutz." She kept repeating this every time we asked her and couldn't give any other description until she suddenly saw bottles of it at the other end of the shop. "There" she said "Awutz!" (R.Whites Lemonade!!!!!! "I'm a secret lemonade drinker, Awutz, Awutz.")

You're going to start me on some of the hilarious versions of dialogue that come up on television subtitles. One of my favourites is "The pine earring women" (The pioneering women) and "Fuzz and Asian" (Fascination) Any others?

I wouldn`t dare put up some of the versions that do spring to mind.
New hug pic on my page Terra, spotted this morning, I guess they were waiting for me to clean the debris out of the pond, trouble is I hadn`t really finished the job..
