READY TO CELEBRATE .. heucherellas and other fellas.

Our gardens are at the ready … everyone waiting …

……………………………………………………………

Feeling festive … Tulip ‘Carnaval de Nice’ …

……………………………………………………………

Looking luscious … Erysimum ‘Apricot Delight’ …

……………………………………………………………

… and Tweety Pie … away with the fairies …

……………………………………………………………

Everyone was waiting for Budgie the Helicopter,

bringing Gromit back from his winter in the city …

Shaun and Young Crock were ready to rock …

……………………………………………………………

But … OUCH ! … WATCH OUT BUDGIE ! …

… crash landed on the Obelisk ! Mind the lilac !

……………………………………………………………

Budgie tried again, but got caught on the Clematis !

“This isn’t flying .. this is falling with style”… Lol …

……………………………………………………………

Careful, Budgie …

… you’ll get hooked on the Chocolate Vine !

……………………………………………………………

“Don’t worry” said Conker … “I’ve found Budgie here”

“Safe landing on the grass by the hot border”

……………………………………………………………

For the final part of the journey

Wallace and Gromit rode on the motorbike …

down the path past the aubrieta …

……………………………………………………………

turned right at the bluebells …

……………………………………………………………

straight on via the violas …

……………………………………………………………

veered left, under the pink Chaenomeles …

……………………………………………………………

… and safe arrival at the Gravel Gardens …

“Looks a bit crowded, Gromit” said Wallace …

“Not much room for you amongst these new pots.

Lots of primroses, heucherellas, and other fellas" …

……………………………………………………………

Suddenly a breeze sprang up … flags everywhere ..

……………………………………………………………

Seems like Truffle and Dougal got FLAGGED. Lol.

……………………………………………………………

Finally, calm was restored around the Gravel Gardens.

… enough space for the ducks and moles …

Skimmia Magic Marlot and Heucherella Tapestry …

……………………………………………………………

Everyone has a place .. Dougal, tortoises, bunnies …

aubrieta, ophiopogon, Heuchera ‘Gypsy Dancer,’

hardy geranium … and Athyrium ’Ursula’s Red;

……………………………………………………………

As dusk fell, Gromit took up his wheelbarrow…

Omphalodes "Starry Eyes’ twinkled in the half-light.

……………………………………………………………

Conker did a final check …

… ajuga and aucuba all shipshape …

… and … just in case Gromit is thirsty …

… Heuchera ‘Ginger Ale’ … Lol.

……………………………………………………………

The scent from the lilac has never smelt so sweet …

……………………………………………………………

Lots of celebrations going on around the U.K. … :o)

Conker is ready with his flag ! :o))

…………………………………………………………….

Enjoy ! :o)))

love those Omphalodes “Starry Eyes"
i do hope conker doesnt really get flagged ~ he is much too beautiful!

absolutly brilliant Terra, gave me the best laugh and smile in ages, conker looks like he is laughing in the first pic of him with budgie, so funny, great pictures and captions, enjoyed every min, enjoy the special day, the boys look exctited flags and all ;o)) xx

26 Apr, 2011

Nice to see Conker's ready for Friday! I hope to spend it in the garden, grafting away but I'll probably stop for a cuppa between 10.45 and 11.30 .... can't be bothered with all the faffing about before that :)

26 Apr, 2011

Everyone and everything looking great Terratoonie, brought a smile on a cool breezy Tuesday ☼☼ :-))

26 Apr, 2011

Your garden is looking as gorgeous as ever! So much colour, those pansies don't look real! Can I ask, how big is your garden? We're moving house soon and will have a 35'x25' garden to play with :)

26 Apr, 2011

Thanks for a big smile . . . and Conker seems to be smiling too! Love the photo of lilac in dappled sunshine.
Btw, recently someone asked me if my Omphalodes was 'Starry Eyes' - how can I tell?? Thanks TT :))

Brilliant, do you write adult books for those who are children at heart. If not you should.

26 Apr, 2011

Thanks Bjs ...
your comment interested me because I had been tempted to put a sub-heading on this blog "for the young at heart" ...
I don't write books, but I did once send a story I created to a magazine and it was published... ironically, about a cat and a canary !

Hi Sheila..
The lilac is gorgeous this year.. I grew the whole shrub from a twig I was permitted to take off a bush en route to the co-op store ..Lol.

I think your Omphalodes would be Starry Eyes if the flowers are same as mine... i.e. blue and white.. not solid blue... that's about as much as I can offer... I hope that helps !

Thank you Emma..
good luck in your new home... I'll ask Conker and Truffle to measure my gardens some time :o)

Hello Mavis...
I find that the "pretend world" is often a nicer place to be than the "real world".. I'm sure you know what I mean ;o) Yes, breezier today...

Hi Donna ...
good idea to take a gardening break to see the TV for the most memorable moments of Friday :o)

Thanks, Sandra ..
Conker is so obliging with posing for filming LOL... but, of course, both of my dogs want to be in every photo, so they have to sometimes take turns ;o)

Thank you Sticki... we're all trying hard not to get flagged ;o)

26 Apr, 2011

What a great blog TT, conker & truffle are a pair of stars.. along with the rest of the cast, last but by no means least (imagine a fanfare as I can't write one) the film producer.. take a bow TT! lol!

26 Apr, 2011

Hi Helenium...
Thanks ..
I couldn't have done it without my actors and crew ;o)

26 Apr, 2011

what a gorgeous garden.. mine definatly needs some more work done. but yours along with your humorous blog have made more determined to get up and get to work on some more of the garden.

26 Apr, 2011

yes they certainly enjoy the camera Terra, casper the same when i get the camera out he thinks its to take pics of him hahaa, dont you just love em lol

26 Apr, 2011

that carnaval de nice tulip is amazing and i love the white clematis ~ is it a montana variety?
i think you should write some more TT if you got the first one accepted thats incredibly rare!!

26 Apr, 2011

Hi Hchristy .. thank you, and please don't forget your camera to take photos of your work in progress !

Sandra ... I guess Casper is same as my dogs, very disappointed if I have the camera out just to photograph my flowers etc... Lol.

Sticki ... I'm not sure on the clematis... do you mean the one near Conker, or the one on which Budgie crash-lands ? I'll try to look up the names..

26 Apr, 2011

i love the one with conker and the flag, the one budgie has luckily landed on safely and the one by the lilac ~ i like them all ~ so any one name will do ~ dont worry!

26 Apr, 2011

what a wonderful blog, and such an incredible garden, so much help from all your little friends, I think maybe Budgie needs some more flying lessons, well done Conker hope you have not got to hold the flag until friday,

26 Apr, 2011

Everyone has turned up for the big event in your garden Terra and have to say they all look spruced up and raring to go, can`t blame then in such lovely surroundings, Conker has done a grand job guiding budgie to his landing runway, Truffle is obviously keeping Dougal in line, guess he thinks he looks a wee bit absentminded, its great to see Wallace and Gromit arriving in time and getting to grips for the big occasion. All looking very patriotic, a pleasure to see.....
Lovely blog with your usual smashing photo`s......

26 Apr, 2011

Thanks Yorks and Lincs ...

Great to have so much support from the Eastern counties of England...LOL..

Conker was in charge of props and Truffle's job was "continuity" ..lol...

Crocus has volunteered to give Budgie the flying lessons ;o)

26 Apr, 2011

Just wonderful TT and crew and rent-a-crowd Lol. !! You could make a movie TT. Thanks great blog.

26 Apr, 2011

26 Apr, 2011

Thanks Cinderella and Pansypotter ..

I enjoy my imaginary world and I'm lucky that my pets are happy to have fun with me there...lol..

My gardens have been growing like crazy this year...
and you're right ...

... and cast of "extras" seems to get bigger by the minute !

26 Apr, 2011

TT, your garden is definitely ready and waiting for us visitors to stroll round, and what a show it`s putting on,
from the beautiful Tulip through to the Clematis and Lilac. I`ve felt thoroughly entertained by all of your cast, and I think that secretly you`re that fairy at play.
Thanks for a very delightful and entertaining blog.

26 Apr, 2011

26 Apr, 2011

26 Apr, 2011

26 Apr, 2011

Lovely as always TT, the woods in Sussex were crowded with bluebells at the weekend, unfortunately they are already going over. Love all your varied sections in the garden.

26 Apr, 2011

Thanks, Bob...
I guess the early warm weather has brought the bluebells into flower sooner than usual ...

26 Apr, 2011

Your garden is looking gorgeous as usual TT! I see your imagination has run riot again, I'd love to live in your head for a while, and have a wee respite from the outside world!
By the way, your lovely garden is such an inspiration to me, that I sowed a packet of Aubretia seeds called: 'Cheeky Mix' (couldn't resist the name!)...and now I have 56 transplanted seedlings! Eeeek!! And there are more popping up every day! ((Hugs!)) to you and the glamorous guys!! Waving my flag for Friday from way over here! Can't wait! I love a good wedding!

26 Apr, 2011

Thanks Libet... well done with your aubrieta seeds :o)

Beautyful plants. Beautyful Conker and Truffle. Nice expressions on Gromit and Dougle but alas Tiny jealous you have a more handsome Tweety pie . Very pleasing blog thankyou.

26 Apr, 2011

Wonderful blog, TT, your plants and ornaments seem as well behaved as Conker and Truffle! I had to laugh at poor Truffle being 'flagged', bless him, butter wouldn't melt. I must admit I am a bit peeved that your ducklings have hatched before mine :)

27 Apr, 2011

Hello Gee ... Thank you ..
I hope you have some lovely ducklings ...

... at least Dougal and Truffle were "flagged" with the Union Flags the correct way up ... Lol.

27 Apr, 2011

Very kind words ...

This blog is a follow-on to my last year's Gravel Gardens blogs, especially http://www.growsonyou.com/terratoonie/blog/12304-gravel-gardens-latest-news-from-gromit-o

...where Wallace and Gromit had to leave the Gravel Gardens to go to the city for a photo-shoot because they were invited to feature on the Christmas postage stamps... ;o)

29 Apr, 2011

what a fantastic garden, I love little animals too I will post some pictures, somebody stuck chewing gum on my teddy, and smashed down my chrysanths which were all staked and ready to rock, they pulled out the stakes and broke them in too. I do feel sometimes like giving up, then I see your garden, and off we go again. xxx

2 May, 2011

Thanks Bill :o)))

3 May, 2011

Terra...you've done it again! :) You must have such fun planning and plotting your story line with all your "helpers" and it's so much fun to read your blogs and see your beautiful garden.

There also must be no end to your patience at getting all these photos on GoY....it always frustrates me so much as it seems to take such a long time. So well done to you.

I wish I could smell the lilac too...it looks so pretty and is a fond childhood memory of mine as many of my family had those in their gardens.

3 May, 2011

Hi Whistonlass...
Thanks for your lovely comments ... I'm sending you the aroma of the lilac through your computer screen ..lol.

Yes, for my blogs, it is time-consuming sorting out all my photos etc. but it is fun too, because it means that at least for a while, I'm in a make-believe world, which is a safer place, and where there are always happy endings ! ;o)

3 May, 2011

Hi TT. Wonderful blog and pics, as usual. Wish I had so many colourful plants in my garden at the moment. I've had a nice show of Dicentra, the old pansies are flowering well, and my gold rose has a number of buds on it, and thats about it. Lovely to see the boys looking so handsome and patriotic. Bet they had a wonderful day. ;o))

3 May, 2011

Hi Linda ...

7 May, 2011

Funny thing is the "Fairies at Play" sign was a gift from one friend, and then another friend who hadn't seen my sign, by coincidence, bought me the fairy... so I put the two together :o)))

Hi Cristina ..
I'm also trying to catch up ..
... not easy, is it !!!

31 May, 2011

Hi Terra, I know this comment is VERY late ... I've only just seen it, being a relatively new member. Some lovely photos and extremely funny. Obviously from the response, many others enjoyed it too. You have quite a fan club (and great sense of humour). I guess this was prior to the last Royal Wedding, was it really almost 3 years ago ?... Frightening. PS Don't worry about replying ... I know you have a lot of other catching up to do. Best wishes Alan.

21 Apr, 2014

Hi Alan ..
Thanks for visiting my blogs and for your kind words ...

Over the past 5 or 6 years I've written lots of 'story' blogs ... here's another you might like, when you have a few spare minutes on GoY ...

http://www.growsonyou.com/terratoonie/blog/16552--the-queue-for-the-loo

Terra.

21 Apr, 2014

Look forward to it. I'll take a look later, must go and get the tools out and "get cracking" ... a lot to do today.

27 Apr, 2014

Yes ... I meant for a rainy or snowy day !
