Really glad to hear it, Elle! It's so much easier to ID a plant with a latin name, especially if someone is looking for one to buy - then they can get the EXACT one they want!

Agree! :-))

I think that's what's confusing me, Bscott. Elle - if it's a climber, you'd know, as the shoots are very long and floppy if not tied on to wires or a trellis. The bush roses might be a bit spindly, but they don't send out long, long stems.

In the spring (after frosts finish) you cut the heads off, then cut each stem back to a pair of healthy buds, about half-way down the stem. Easy-peasy!

Have you cut them down to the ground, Elle? Watch out in the spring when the new shoots appear - they are slug and snail magnets!

It really is. Elle will know now, and she can deal with the seedlings ASAP!!

You're right, Jacque. We lost my husband's parents in Oct/November and it's always a time for looking back and remembering that sadness. All we can do is try to think of the happy times, and your children have helped a lot as well.

How could you eat these beauties? LOL.

OK - Jacque's welcome to join us (you) round the cold frame! She can bring some more pots of Campanula in case mine don't 'take'!!!

I said 'Welcome' somewhere else - but there's no harm in saying it again, is there? Of course you will look after it. You wouldn't have bought it if you didn't already know that!
Leave all the planting until you know what you've got, then you can start to make changes. There may well be bulbs and so on to come up! :-))

It looks big! what's the size of the garden, Elle?

You can take close-ups of leaves and flowers and post them as questions. Someone will ID them for you, I'm sure. :-))

You've got plenty of space to do things with!

You'll have fun with this! :-))

Could be, but as you say, a distant view!

See that tallish small pink flower to the left? That's a WEED and it spreads everywhere by seeding itself... it's a willowherb. Pull them out when you see them!

I reckon that the blue spike to the left is a Delphinium.....:-))

I think that's Campanula portenschlagiana. Such a mouthful of a name! It's a spreader - I love it! You can dig bits up and plant them elsewhere in your garden, if you want to.
On photo - Campanula!
She likes it, obviously! Is her name really 'Puppy'?

You can see my Lab on my icon. Elle. His name is 'Henry'. I don't think he'd answer to 'Kitty' or 'Pussy'!!!!! LOL.
