why are some of my leaves on my clematis brown? plenty of lovely flowers!

Answers

That usually indicated that the roots aren't getting enough moisture.
When you water it do you give it a good soaking, making sure the full depth of its roots (about 12") are getting soaked ?
A weekly drenching keeps them healthy, they're very thirsty plants so try not to let the rootball get too dry.
