'Twisted Mint Julep'

'Twisted Mint Julep'

I ran across an interesting tip on how to pollenate daylilies with very long and droopy pistils. It takes a long time for pollen to travel down to the ovaries, so the pistil should be lightly tied into an erect position and that lets gravity help.

I am going to put into favourites, for that bit of info, least I should forget, not that I breed Daylilies, except as an experiment.

I am trying this method using Vertigo as the pollen parent. None of my really big spiders have set seed, so I am hoping this works.

So this is hear say at the moment? Will be interesting to see if it works!

It came from the AHS Daylily Journal. I should have a result very soon as any attempts to use Twisted Mint Julep have never been successful, so it will remain tied up for at least 2 days.

Interesting info.

I was going to do it again, today, but there was a brief rain very early that washed away the pollen. I'm hoping yesterday try took.
