Almost three weeks ago, this was how I described my photo of my back garden,…’ healthy but boring..’.

Glad to say things have improved somewhat..
First trailing Begonia..

Delphiniums, and Roses reaching for the sky..

Annuals in pots, still to reach their potential..but at least last years Dahlia has made the effort..

One lonely Lily…only one out yet :o(

Geraniums been flowering well, and Lavender almost there..

Ah well,at least it’s a start..:o)

That dahlia is lovely, I expect it's changing before your eyes!
Love the White delphinium.

Wow, what a difference Sandra. It looks fabulous. Well done you.

30 Jun, 2012

Thanks Sticki..It was only an annual from seed, but it had made so many tubers at the end of last year,I decided to store it..glad I did...There is another white Delphinium next to that one,but it hasn't opened yet..it has a black centre, both grown from seed about 4 years ago,,I was hoping for a blue one,but I do like the white..:o)

30 Jun, 2012

Thank you,Cinders..the rain has certainly made everything grow, hasn't it? ..with odd bursts of sunshine in between ! Lol.

30 Jun, 2012

Quite stunning, looking forward to seeing the next one.

30 Jun, 2012

Amazing Bloomer . . . what a difference in a few weeks. I think that's the first white Delphinium I've ever seen!

30 Jun, 2012

wow what a difference a few weeks make....

i have some delphiums but i scared to plant them because of the slugs. they are this years seed..maybe i should wait till their bigger.

30 Jun, 2012

It shouldn't be long now,Sticki..plenty of stems..it always flowers later than the other one,for some reason..
....................
Thank you,Sheila..I was surprised when they both turned out to be white..seeds were from Chelsea ,but a mixed packet..I do love them :o)
..................
Sandra,I worried about the slugs,so the first year,I grew them in pots,so I could keep a look out..but just risked it the 2nd year.I can honestly say,I get no slug damage at all..but I do use an organic product which is also a fertiliser..based on sheep manure..quite expensive, but I think it's worth it :o)

30 Jun, 2012

i think i'll follow you and keep to pots...

30 Jun, 2012

Lifts ones spirits so much when our flowers are blooming for us and we`ve had a long wait for some of them this year, I also like the white Delphinium, I planted white at the same time as my blue ones but sadly I lost it, seeing yours I think I better try again, lol....

30 Jun, 2012

It looks a different place in almost no time Bloomer. Too impatient you are !! ;) Glad someone gets no slugs or snails, my Dhalia's are the sacrifice plant....Stripped of every leaf and bud.

30 Jun, 2012

I did have two more Sue,which never really got going, for some reason..and were also planted in a pot..maybe I was just meant to have white ones :o).

30 Jun, 2012

I am agreeing with you for once,Pimms..very impatient sometimes..I still have slugs and snails, but not much damage ...
I find them under the rims of the Dahlia pots, and they are stood on a gravel area..so that is no detriment to them at all...I have learnt to remember to wear gloves now, when feeling for snails .and off they go,free falling over the fence :o)

30 Jun, 2012

my slugs and snails are very fond of strawberrys and marigolds. so maybe they will leave the delphs alone..lol

30 Jun, 2012

Oh dear,Sandra..I think I might be tempting fate,as I have french Marigolds planted in with that yellow Dahlia..!
yikes..might have to have a night watchman Lol..

30 Jun, 2012

i get more trouble from the flock of hedge sparrows nesting near my tunnel.....they seem to love my succulents and are waiting with me for my tomatoes to ripen..lol

30 Jun, 2012

So pretty B. see they were all in there somewhere and they all just needed a drop of vitamin D. Like we do Lol.

30 Jun, 2012

its all looking great Bloomer :) Love your blue fence.
My lavender isnt flowering yet. Jacob's ladder still alive but not growing much ..been keeping an eye on it! :)

30 Jun, 2012

Love your White Dlephium Sandra but darent risk it with my _ _ _ _ Probs, I m on patrol 3xdaily! my poor Salvias nurtured frome Simbads seeds, will have to get my knitting needles out to mend the holes;0(
But great to see so much colour in your garden now, you will have to go for a break more often1 [dont mean that have missed you;0)]

30 Jun, 2012

Must be the word'Succulent' Sandra..and who wouldn't hang about for a lovely ripe tomato? ..you must admit, they have their priorities right ! Lol.
..........
Thanks,you are right,G.mage..especially the Vitamin D !:o)A bit of overdosing wouldn't go amiss,would it ? ................
Thanks Pixi..Mine is only just starting.and a small piece of my Jacob's ladder is like yours..it will be fine..just needs time to get going sometimes.. like us ! Lol.

30 Jun, 2012

Haha! Maybe I should give it a little miracle grow..wonder if that would work on me lol..well up the way not out! Or maybe some porridge!

30 Jun, 2012

Thank you,Carole..sorry to hear you are having so much damage to your plants..so disheartening when you have grown them yourself,..I suppose my gravel bed does help,as I haven't the amount of garden,or borders for hiding places, like you,so I soon spot them..I know what you meant, about going on holiday..:o) x

30 Jun, 2012

Wow, what a difference! Looking gorgeous!
Can't blame you for being impatient. It feels like we wait forever and then bang, it's all over!

1 Jul, 2012

Nice to see things blooming. Even the first photo is lovely. I don't know why you said it was boring.

1 Jul, 2012

Thanks Lil..and here we are on 1st July..with still lots to flower yet! Only one Fuchsia in bloom, and all the rest in pots with only a few buds on !I have never known them to be as late...hoping for an Indian summer :o)

Thanks Hywel...I think it was more like me being bored, than the garden..I do like it,just got fed up of nothing happening ,colour wise..anyway it's on the move now :o)

1 Jul, 2012

Green is a lovely colour :o)

1 Jul, 2012

Beautiful Bloomer. I cannot grow delphs in my clay, never thought to try in pots maybe I will after seeing yours. Any tips?

1 Jul, 2012

Looking great Bloomer. Snails have been such a pain this year with all this rain. I went out to look at my coriander seedlings yesterday...gone...I said loudly something like "Oh no! Blasted Slugs" and poor Sluggypup looked very hurt and confused!

1 Jul, 2012

Thank you,Denise,
I still have the packet of seeds,in the fridge..recommended place for them..sadly just noticed they are past their sell by date,or I would have sent you some to try..This is what it reads....They can be sown anytime from early spring to late summer.Sow in seed compost, cover lightly..keep moist and shaded from strong sunshine until they germinate. aím at maintaining temps of 15-20 degrees.,but not more..excessive heat will result in failure...should take two to three weeks to show..Prick out into pots when first true leaves have developed ,and grow on till ready for planting in open ground.....
so,pretty bog standard really..but I would still have a go using pots,Denise..but as they get bigger,I would only have one to a large one,as I think the root system will be a decent size....I know they like a good mulch for the winter, lots of water in the growing period.,and feeding too, like most things.. sometimes it's just a challenge to try....or maybe buy an established plant,if you don't want to try seed..I'm sure if you found a smallish one,to grow on,it should be fine..:o)

1 Jul, 2012

Thanks Lulu...been so many with the damp conditions this year..just perfect for the little *******! hope this isn't what you said in front Sluggy pup..she might repeat it ..I blame the parents ! :o)))).
