THE MIDGES ARE COMING!

Yes the midges are coming in full force and I seem to be no.1 on their menu at the moment. I normally don’t have any trouble with bites but this year the midges have taken a shine to me and won’t leave me alone. They are leaving their marks all over the place. Still I am an intrepid gardener and won’t let them stop me working on my little patch.

Went to Morrisons today on the way home from work to get a few bits and came out with nothing but plants. If you want something cheap and very cheerful the shop is selling some really nice plants at a bargain price, i.e. perennials of a good size at 2 for 3 pounds and small clematis and passion flower for 1.99 each. All look in great condition too. So of course I forgot we needed to eat and came home with 3 bags of plants! At least I managed to fill quite a few gaps for little outlay.

I tried to take photos of the clematis tonight and my neighbours probably thought I was a bit mental, seeing me climbing on top of the seating in back of garden to get a view of the top of the arbor since my favourite clematis rapidly climbs to the very top and blooms up there where the man over the back gets a great view from his bedroom window. Still the picture looks great. see below.

Better make the most of these evenings now as the nights will begin to draw in again soon. Hope everyone had a good day.

Thank you Elsiemay, glad you like it. The flowers are hugh aren't they. We had thought of moving it nearer the house in a more open space but are frightened of killing it off. It seems to live it where it is.

Just been out and measured Angie and they are about 6" across. It"sone of the biggest bloomers I've seen on a clematis and the white is so pure in colour. Thanks for the nice comments.
