"Taking a view" Part 3 and final!

We’ve finally achieved what we were aiming for in the back-of-garage border.
Here’s what we were up against:

The site has been cleared, raised boards painted ( but not yet filled) and this is the result:

Because it is difficult shape, the edges were bare soil so I have planted various lengths of cranesbill geranium to fill the gaps between boards and paths. I hope they will eventually meet up and give potential weeds a run for their money!
Meanwhile, OH decided to completely clear ‘Wildy Corner’ near the compost heaps, so the Madonna’ elderberry, large berberis and cotoneater have been swept away and the fence panels repainted. He still has a bit to do, but it is looking better:

The soil is virtually modelling clay in that corner so it has been no easy task.
This weekend I took the bit between the teeth with the greenhouse which was full of plants, grot and many false widow spiders. It seems everywhere we go in the garden at the moment we fall foul of webs. Distinctly unpleasant!
I discarded pots of clematis, potentillas, various pots of this and that as I am sick of feeling overwhelmed by mess and muddle. This is the result:

Our trusty overseers are enjoying their new beds in the greenhouse and watch us with bemusement, not for them the wind, weather and mud:

While, after all the effort, I continue to look like something the cat dragged in!!

oh Ange I love the 'dragged in' photo. You look more startled as if you were not expecting the photo to be taken. The work you and hubby have put in has certainly paid off. the garden looks amazing.

I have enjoyed watching your garden makeover.

Great work Ange … you should be smiling! But you do now have a very inviting greenhouse for pottering in 🙂.

Goodness what a lot of heavy work and what a reward, those raised beds just waiting to be planned for and filled. Wildly corner looking nicely tamed, ready for more ideas and plants, and your greenhouse cleaned and brushed items stacked, pusscats bedded, I need a lie down after reading it all!
Well done both of you, what an achievement in a short space of time.

A brilliant result! I do wish someone would make a human sized cat bed that I could curl up in.

Great blog & work. All looks good & very noble of you to put in ‘after pic ’ of yourself! I’m sure that cats think we are a bit mad, they are always so laid back whilst we are hard at it. You’ll enjoy your nice tidy greenhouse now & also planting up your new raised bed, keep us posted.

You've been working hard. Those raised beds look well-made. What are you going to grow in them ?
That greenhouse looks too empty for me though. What's the point of an empty greenhouse ? Are you going to get rid of it ?

Thank you all for your comments.

Sbg, how people manage to garden and remain looking elegant I have no idea. I always end up looking like a bag lady. (Not that I have ever been known for my elegance!)

Yes, Sheila, the g'house was really getting to me so I am happy with the result.

Well, we've both lost some weight, Janey, so that is a plus!

Me, too, Loosestrife. Our girls have quite a cosy life, really. I'm sure it's the same with your little canines..

The cats keep a beady eye on what we're doing and quite often get underfoot, Ff. We need someone to make sure our noses are kept to the grindstone!

We won't do anything with them this year, Meadow, but intend to put our named snowdrops in them and in the spring some wigwams for sweet peas. I have never been able to find space before. They're not likely to be for veggies. Yes, we will add grit.

See above for what they will be used for, Hywel. Mostly for cut flowers I expect. No chance of the g'house remaining empty for long. Lots of pots to overwiner and seeds in the spring. I just couldn't get round in there - it was so overflowing it was a tripping hazard!

You two deserve a pat (or two) on the back for completing so much work. I love the cats looking so smug in your greenhouse and those raised beds are going to be so much easier to manage than one large flowerbed.
Your photos have actually inspired me to move a couple of shrubs, hopefully making it easier for me to maintain the garden.

Easier management is the plan, Shirley. Good luck with your plant moves.

I meant to say that the cranesbill geraniums are a very good idea 🙂.

Well Ange, all that hard work was definitely worth it!
Now you can hopefully relax a bit until next spring!
Maybe not..knowing you!
I do like the corner with the raised beds and wigwams are a great idea.
Great to see a picture of you too!

Thanks, Sheila.

Not my best side, Paul!

Glad you approve, Rose. Still lots to do before eveything disappears back under ground.

Ange, I did actually dig out and dispose of a Kniphofia yesterday. It was just a mass of shabby foliage with very few flowers so it had to go. Next task is to re-site a small Pittosporum.

It’s just great at the moment to be getting out there, making changes, collecting seed and taking cuttings. (Sadly I’ve yet to have the new raised bed as our lovely landscaper is stuck while his van is being repaired!). Still plenty to be getting on with though …

I don't have a good side Ange lol

I wish I had your energy Ange!!

Just catching up, Ange. You’ve really achieved a heck of a lot here, such a lot of hard work and the outcome looks more than worth all the toil! I can’t wait to see this project of yours planted up! Love how the pusscats are overseeing the job in hand! Best seats in the ‘house’. 😻😻

Paul, that goes for many of us!

I don't have much most of the time, Rose, that's the problem!

Thanks, Kate. I hope the outcome will be worth it in the future - couldn't bare to have to contemplate doing it all again!
