Good morning!

I was just happy as can be when my husband sent me the link to Growsonyou. He saw it on one of his usual haunts, and thought it would interest me. It does!
This summer, after so many crazy weather changes, I finally gave up on having our usual garden, and decided to just put the tomato and broccoli plants that I’d started from seed into containers on our patio. They’re actually doing well, and we can pull them under the car port when there’s a severe thunderstorm alert containing hail.
This was supposed to be a ‘day off’, but as usual, there were just some things that needed to be done before it was time to relax – and relax I did. It was great to just sit down outside, enjoy the morning breeze before the heat sets in, and listen to the birds sing.
I’ve got some Dahlias in my brick planter on the patio, and am looking forward to getting some helpful information on their care and success. I think I blew it when I dead-headed them the first time.
We’ve had one hummer come by – but haven’t seen him for a few days. They’ve been very scarce this summer. May be due to all the wild fires and extreme heat. Who knows?
Well, this was a start for day one. Be back tomorrow.

Nice to hear from you, abrayton. We have just had an influx of American gardeners onto the site due to it being recommended on an American web site. We are looking forward to hearing more from you all and seeing how our gardens and growing environments differ. Any chance of some pictures of your garden?

And welcome from me - photos, as the others say, are always a treat, specially in gardens overseas. I, too, am wondering what 'hummers' are...

I just looked back at all these wonderful, friendly comments. Thanks so much. My computer is really short on power tonight, but wanted to quickly say thanks before I have to shut down and plug it in. Will take time first thing tomorrow to check all your sites and photos to get more acquainted with you and your gardens.
Hope you have a wonderful day tomorrow!!!!
