Garden visitors

I thought I would share with you one or two pics of visitors to our garden.
First we have a squirrel in the apple tree. He is very clever at pinching the birds’ food

then we have a blue tit fledgeling. They fledged into our greenhouse and I found 5 of them them sitting in a row on the staging! I wish I could have taken a photo of them. We had a problem keeping Phoebe the cat away from them. In the end we kept her in the house until I could shoo them back into the apple tree the next morning at 6.00am.

This is a picture of our visiting heron having a stroll on the lawn.

!He sits on our neighbour’s roof quite often. We cover the pond now since he (or a friend) helped himself to several goldfish about 2 years ago.

Finally I would like to find a picture of our visiting hedgehog, but no luck so far. He leaves his “message” on the lawn at least we think its a hedgehog, even though no one can explain the cherry stones in the little black turd.

Sorry the photography leaves a bit to be desired – I think I need a better camera from Father Christmas.

How lovely shame you could nt get a snap of the little ones on the stageing, your photos to me are fine, yes I too have a squirrel eats all the bird seed and nuts, I have found a squirrel proof cage for the nuts, it sticks its little paws through so much for squirrel proof

Loved the heron and the squirrel.

I bought a coconut for my tits and finch, cut it half and hung them out and the squirrel has taken both halves!
What camera do you use?

Great pics Rachelsmum, your camera seems ok to me.
That heron seems to think its an ornament up on the roof like that, but what a good view he must have of the pond. He must be so frustrated.
Isn't it lovely to have wildlife in the garden? What a bonus.

bobq - I have a small FUJI 480.Its not bad but I would like something with a decent zoom lens!

Ok yes a decent enough camera. My wife has a Canon A650 compact and mine is the full Canon DSLR and her camera can do the same as mine, and it has twice as much megapixels, (the only thing different is I can change lenses.) It also has a very good zoom on it too, so you may have to shop around a bit.

I have just been talking to another GoY member, 'Lily', and she has just said that a Panasonic Lumix TZ6 is an excllent camera and has a very good review and personal recommendations and also has a reasonably large lens.
Perhaps you could P.M. her to see what she has to say?

Thanks Bobq - I certainly will!

I can take reasonable close ups from a metre away, , but not good on distance pics.

Hope the weather hasnt been too bad in Lancashire this weekend!

The weather is bl@@dy terrible and we are having our c/heating boiler replaced this week, typical all that nice weather we just had and we had to pick this week hehe still better when its done.
Lily said it was GoY member 'Grannysue' that has a lumix so if you go have a look at some of her pics you may get an idea on its capabilities.

Your photos are great, thanks for sharing them. I wish I had larger trees in my garden but I`ll have to make do with my magnolia.
