Can carrots be sown now for Autumn pulling.?

according to my packet of early nantes 5 seeds you can sow up to end of July which I have done. Whether other varieties can be sown later will be displayed on the packet. However I did see a warning that if you sow late carrot seeds remember to protect from the second hatchings of carrot fly

Thanks .I was hoping to find something in veg. that I can sow now...I will have to wait for next spring !

Hi Belladee, I recommend you read 4 season harvest by Eliot Coleman. His book covers a lot of normally considered out of season growth. You don't indicate what zone you are in but I can tell you that here in zone 7 we grow cabbage, carrots, kale, spinach and other root crops on into Nov and some times even later. Your garden doesn't have to quit producing at the end of summer.
