potted arum lily
We have an arum lily in a large ceramic pot - we want to save the pot but are having difficuly removing the lily from the pot .Any ideas ? It is approx 4 ft tall

It sounds as if you will have to cut the Lily up gradually with a sharp knife and therefore lose it to save the pot. I assume you've tried running a long blade round the rim down between the pot and the compost to loosen it? Is there a large drainage hole in the base? Try pushing the end of a broom in as well. I can't think of any tricks you could try. Difficult when it must be pot-bound.
