Once the plant has flowered do I cut the flowerhead off? I would normally assume so but the fact that there are new leaves growing above it detered me!!! Can anyone help please?

On plant Callistemon citrinus

Best to cut the flowers at their bases, despite the new leaves - you get a bit of an untidy bush if you don't, cos those new leaves you can see grow on, leaving a bare bit where the flower was.

Kooks, bottlebrush is a rangy grower anyway, to even though it isn't really necessary, as Bamboo says, it's a good opportunity to keep it compact.
