planted up an asparagus bed in march, nothing has happened, so we dug down to find all four appear dead.these were purchased in a packet from a good local nursery.is that my only chance this year or can i get already growing plants to put in.

I think this might be your last chance until next Spring. I planted 1-year old crowns in March this year, and they are tall and ferny now.
