Is this going to get as huge as some of the other magellanica?

one of my favorites , as long as it gets good thick mulch of bark around the roots gives it added protection over winter plus only prune in late April which helps as well , but you know all that Simbad but others may find it useful ?

Gnarly, I lost mine one winter but it wasnt established, my others are now and going well. I will try and remember your advice.

Not sure how big it gets Siris but it does have a lot of room so hope it does :-)
I knew not to cut back till April Gg but not the mulch so thanks for that:-)

I find this one needs favourable conditions (sun and a moist soil) to grow well. But I wouldn't be without it.

So graceful it almost looks as if it will dance away :o)

Think I've planted in the perfect spot then Andrew:-)
These hardy fuchsias are really growing on me Any so good for late colour :-)

I like them too, I have a few that are quite big and established now, I know the flowers on the hardy ones arent that big but there are losts of them. Love my F Magellanica Variegata.

I love them too, i would have them all if only I had room. Made another 2 of variegata, just stuck a couple of prunings in the ground in spring and voila. Will remove the original, sometime, (shame) but it is soooo big now.

They are easy to take cuttings from arent they.
29 Oct, 2015
Yes, indeed Dawnsaunt. I am going thro' next doors collection, taking cuttings, but many of hers are too similar in colour.

I love your variegated one Dawn remember the pictures :-)

I will try and get you a cutting going Kathy (its Fuchsia Magellancica Versicolor)

Thankyou Dawn that's very kind of you but just had a pm from Siris and she's found a rooted piece in her garden, can't wait :-)

Oh lovely. I have the dark leaved one too with red flowers, if you require a cutting :-)
I really like fuschia, they flower for ages, just when we need colour, I have Army Nurse too, that has nice big flowers (for a hardy one).

Grows about 90cm both ways....lovely
3 Nov, 2015
Are you referring to Army Nurse Mot? I've had mine in a pot for a couple of years and its only been in the ground this year about a foot tall at the mo

This has grown brilliantly since planting Mori its around 2.5 ft tall not that wide yet though.
I don't have the dark leaved one Dawn so that's ve good next year , I 'll take some cuttings of this in spring for you, I googled Army Nurse and thought it was the same as one I had but mines called Mrs Popple, so maybe a bit to similar do you think ? Thanks for the offer though :-)
4 Nov, 2015
It will grow huge! Strangely, unlike Andrew I found it best in some shade but deffo kept moist.
5 Nov, 2015
Thanks Kathy, that would be good of you. The red one I referred too isnt Army Nurse, its another one very similar to Versicolour - I've googled and I think its: Fuchsia magellanica 'gracilis' - have a look and let me know if you'd like a cutting. I have Mrs Popple too, I love them all.
5 Nov, 2015
Good Meanie I like huge :-), its funny you should say that I noticed yesterday our neighbor has a lovely one growing in part shade under some trees.
Ooo yes please to 'Gracilis' Dawn I don't have that one just googled it ;-)
