Markhamia is an absolutely beautiful tree with yellow-trumpet flowers that have a sweet fragrance. It becomes a fairly large tree to 45 feet. It is occasionally used a as street tree in San Diego...however, used more commonly as a lawn tree because it needs lots of water. It is native to The Congo region of Western Africa and therefore extremely tender to cold...generally defoliating around 36 degrees F. (3 degrees C.)
even for a very short period of time.
