Arbutus unedo.......

From Crocus....It arrived yesterday, packed beautifully and I am amazed at the size too....You wouldnt get a shrub this big inb a garden centre without paying a fortune for it.....

Shirley.its just in the cold greenhouse for now, maybe til the spring then I shall plant it out. Delonix......I dont think its uncommon, but not very widely grown.......I have only ever seen one....thats what made me purchase it....Meanie.....from the shape, it looks like I could make it a standard, but I shall just see how it grows before I decide...Thanks Amy, its really healthy looking....Im well impressed with Crocus......

I guess the information I read a while back was incorrect. It said A. unedo was widely grown in the U.K. It does grow pretty widely here in CA. It also grows to be a fairly large tree eventually, with a thick trunk.

Maybe it was referring to southern Cornwall, England. I assume that's probably the mildest part of England?
