Only a 3rd of the garden is ours to play with (nearest bit) as we share it with the people that live above. Some garden it better than no garden and it will be a good way to get to know our new neighbours.

It's great fun creating a new garden. We started with a blank canvas 3 years ago. At first it was overwhelming. We had 1/3 acre waist high in weeds with fruit trees and vines at one end. I felt better once we mowed the weeds and could see the space. Then we started doing things bit by bit and we are still developing new areas. So be encouraged and have fun. Do what you want not what the design books say.

Years ago, we shared a garden with the people above, as I am a keen gardener, they were not, we moved in around the same time, 1st thing I did was to cut the grass, made some borders, the couple above got out in force too, what looked like 2 gardens became one, the summer time was a great time, as both families were out enjoying the garden, we both had a child each, both girls, they played together and were close, until we out grew the house, we went our separate way. So I pray it will work out something similar for you. Well not necessarily the children part, but the garden.
